Wow really? You saw like 2 minutes of a game that has not been released and you are saying he will be recognized enough to become a mascot? Cows gonna cow.

Nintendo_Ownes7

No, smart ass. Look at who the Director of the game is. The same guy who was behind Crash Bandicoot, Sonic the Hedgehog, Jak and Daxter, and many more PlayStation classics.

He didn't create Sonic the Hedgehog the only Sonic game he worked on was Sonic 2.

He worked on the original Sonic, yes.

It looks like a fun game but I doubt it's going to be a huge hit. It'll probably end up like Kameo, a well received launched title but nothing more.

The good thing about Knack is, it has a chance of selling well  to kids and parents if the box art just has screenshots (from some of the cinematic stuff we saw) and it's rated E . . . But I will probably pick up a copy.

More ironically, many of the people in this thread masturbating over it, would be making fun of this game and using it as ammo against the 360 if it were on that platform  :)

No other faction but Cows would hype something like this.

You spend an awful lot of time thinking of cows touching themselves...

I'll keep an eye on it. A playstation platformer that is refreshing for a change would be a godsend at this point. The character certainly has potential, but we'll just have to see about the gameplay.

LMAO in your dreams. you're implying games aren't what they're used to be, yet you're saying it as if he somehow made worse games and "fell off really hard".

Falling off really hard = Molyneux working on Populous to working on Fable Kinect. Rare working on Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country, to working on Kinect Sports.

LEARN THE DIFFERENCE.

Well, considering that current Rare =/= SNES/N64 Rare because most of those guys left when Microsoft bought the studio, and Molyneux produced (not directed) F:TJ, while Cerny is credited as a designer or design consultant on those awful games... yeah, that's not a double standard. considering that every game, there's a staff personnel change, your point is totally irrelevant. how much of the God Of War 1 team worked on God Of War 2, and GOW2 team to GOW3? Actually, I'm doing this thing called trolling because it's fun. :D I have no beef with this guy. Until he presented the PS4, I had no idea who he was. But hey, he designed a Sony console that is actually developer and consumer-centric, so he gets props for that. Not feeling the robot game, though.

I wont even respond to that. I will just shake my head at you and pretend to stare blankly at you through my moniter. :\

Anyways, I will play this bc of two reasons,

  1. Based on his speech, the producer of Knack seems like a guy who can take a super complex concept and package it in a neat way people can digest. It's a skill I think will come in handy when game mechnics and level design come into play.
  2. Also, this is an SCEJ game, When I noticed that this was SCEJ, I immediatly thought of Ape Escape. And I know you will "lulz all days" but AE is a freaking fun game. :B

For sure, I am buying The Witness (day 1!). Man, I can't wait to play that feaking game. Open world+that art direction+dynamic puzzle elements? Ahhhh!! It's gunna freaking rock. =)

But, I can already tell what normal people will play:

Watch_Dogs

KZ:SF

If R* ports GTA5, I am guessing people will definitely buy that.

etc etc etc

Honestly, I do not like a lot of the next gen games ppl on SW wana play. And that's not me being a snob, I am just being uber specific.

Old school gamers who grew up in the N64/PlayStation days, and even the PS2 days will really appreciate a platformer like this. Just reading off Mark Cerny's portfolio of games brings back nostalgia.

Ohyeah, and notice how similar Knack looks to Crash? Same hair. Blocky head. Long arms. Pointy ears.

[QUOTE="drakekratos"][QUOTE="AntiType"][QUOTE="drakekratos"] The Director of this game was also the lead architect of the PS4. Here is his resume: Marble Madness (1984, arcade) Programmer, Designer Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992, Genesis) Producer Disruptor (1996, PlayStation) Executive Producer, Designer Crash Bandicoot (1996, PlayStation) Executive Producer Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (1997, PlayStation) Producer, Designer Spyro the Dragon (1998, PlayStation) Executive Producer, Designer Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (1998, PlayStation) Executive Producer, Designer Spyro the Dragon 2: Ripto's Rage! KNACK reminds me of the 90's mascot days. It's been described as a mixed of Crash Bandicoot and God of War in terms of gameplay.

Nice long list of failed mascots. It's too late to have a mascot, Nintendo couldn't invent a new one if they tried. Mario and Sonic worked out because they were in games that were THE game to get on the system. New systems have a much more broad audience so there is no one game that everyone gets.

You are a troll. Crash Bandicoot sold over 15 million. Ratchet and Clank sold a sh*tload. Same with Jak and Daxter. Ditto for Sonic. Oh.... he worked on God of War and Uncharted too. You sound like a bitter little hater.

... Oh... which one ended up being Sony's mascot? I was confused because Sony still doesn't have one.

Gonna be the sleeper hit of the PS4 launch probably. Everyone will be hyping the new Killzone at launch and whatever big BANG BANG BANG games Sony unveil at E3, but the real killer app is going to be be this platformer. The games this guy has worked on fills me with confidence. Looks really cool. With that said the BANG BANG BANG games are probably going to sell better than this.

lol no. trust me, this game will be forgotten within a year of the PS4 release. it just looks like one of those mediocre launch games just to show off the PS4 capabilitys.

[QUOTE="drakekratos"][QUOTE="AntiType"] Nice long list of failed mascots. It's too late to have a mascot, Nintendo couldn't invent a new one if they tried. Mario and Sonic worked out because they were in games that were THE game to get on the system. New systems have a much more broad audience so there is no one game that everyone gets.AntiType

Crash Bandicoot was a Playstation Mascot. When Sony purchased Naughty Dog they had to give up Crash Bandicoot to their previous owner Vivendi Universal.

A mascot cannot be forced, it must chosen by the audience. It's why Sony has never had one.

Wrong. Sony did have one. Then they sold it. Crash was basically Sony's mascot in the PS1 era. Then they sold Crash and they never really got a mascot to replace Crash, though they did have several popular mascot like characters over the years. Nor do they need a single mascot for the PS brand.

Wow really? You saw like 2 minutes of a game that has not been released and you are saying he will be recognized enough to become a mascot? Cows gonna cow.

CanYouDiglt
Actually, they showed some gameplay of the game throughout the conference while demoing other aspects of PS4. You'd know that if you weren't a blinded fanboy. The game designer is an industry luminary. I feel sorry for you.

They did sell Crash; Naughty Dog was at Vivendi Universal and even though Sony published Naughty Dog's titles on the PS1 just like they did with Insomniac; When Sony purchased Naughty Dog Vivendi wanted to keep Crash that is the only way Vivendi would let Sony purchase Naughty Dog.

Same with Insomniac when they left Vivendi Universal to be independent Insomniac had to give up Spyro.

I do not like the graphics for ps4. Looks like it could be a ps3 game.

I don't think it could be on the PS3 based on how the physics are used; Knack gets destroyed and he then changes form.

The pieces of Knack fly everywhere. It might be possible but the game was just designed to show off the physics that the PS4 could handle.
