Kojima - Natal will start a Revolution

Microsoft organized a panel with some of the biggest japanese game creators to talk about Project Natal. Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima gave high praise to the technology saying that" we are going to see the same sort of revolution of going from 2D games to 3D games with the move to Natal ".

Here's what Kojima had to say about Project Natal :
"Kojima was absolutely blown away when he saw it. Takahashi claimed that he thought Kojima almost fainted when he saw it"
"Kojima said that he really wanted to be here because he believe in the possibilities of the controller -- he said it has the potential to really change the life****of gamers. he said he wants to use natal in his games, but he's really more excited about seeing how Natal changes the life****habits of gamers"
"Kojima said that Natal is going to raise the bar for game development"
"Kojima said we are going to see the same sort of revolution of going from 2D games to 3D games with the move to Natal"
"Kojima is now talking about how this is going to be a transitional stage -- for example, some gamers might not be able to accept trying to control a driving game with a pretend steering wheel in their hands"
"Kojima said that he wants to do stuff that incorporates all aspects of the Natal -- the camera, the voice, the motion control. He especially loves the face recognition possibilities. he said he would like to make a game kind of like AI"

I'm not going to get hyped using my own imagination on what I THINK Natal games will be. So far, that's the only steam people are running around on.

I wish they would show us some Killer Games that would make us want it, it's just a bunch of words right now.

I am going to hold off any judgement until I see some games working with Natal and then actually get to play them aswell. It could very well be a gimmick or it could be great, but we don't know until we try it out.

Natal will probably be a lot of fun, but it's crippled in the way that it will mostly only work for party type games. This is something that a lot of people don't realize here on System Wars. Thee's no way this game will work for FPS games for example. No one want's to act like they're running, crouching and so on. You could use it in the way that you dodge ullets by moving your head or your body to a certain direction, but that's just something that would feel so unnecessary. I used FPS just as an example. All this applies to pretty much every genre except party games.

One thing that I'm interested in seeing is how accurate Natal really will be. Will it see me moving my fingers? Will it se my mouth move? That's something that's interesting, and if it really will be that accurate, party games can be really fun.

He's been saying the same thing about the Wii and so far hasn't made anything for it. If he thinks so about Natal then show us how revolutionary it can't be and finally make a game with it, I'd be interested in seeing this.Dystopian-X

The industry should take them seriously since they've never tried it and have no industry inside information and they will never try it out themselves.

yes and the Wii sold millions and help usher in many new people into playing games and has caused it's rivals to follow suite.

Yes Hideo was correct in his assesment.

But then we people here know better since we are the creative types and know more about the industry then people who work in it.

Oh and we see up close first hand new technology before them.

What seems to fly in the face of logic here in System Wars is that people still deny the success of Nintendo's Wii.

Just because Hardcore fanboys here keep saying it sucks and the games don't appeal to them isn't going to me the Wii go away.

If anything it's success is quite apparent that it has caused Microsoft and Sony to follow as well.

Kojima knows best, so if he says natals gonna rock, so it will.
We know what the wii motion can do, but look at the possibilites natal can do, if you have a mind that is.

From that, you know natal is going to better than the waggle-fest controllers.
