Kotaku GOTY line-up. No MGS4.

Honestly, I've never been a fan of Kotaku's work. The way they picked up an intentional hoax in a blog at CheapAssGamer and ran with it as a news story, and then complained when they got had, says a lot about the quality of their journalism. They're also more guilty than most when it comes to sensationalizing interview quotes for hits.

No problems with their personal GOTY picks, though.

Yeah, I remember that. CheapyD brought it up on his podcast, and Brian C. was pretty rude about it. Still, Kotaku is a site that publishes so many news articles, rumors, etc, so when they screw up every once in a while, I don't attack them for it.

Dude its a video game with clones,tons of small robots and giant robots,super ninjas and other crazy stuff and the arm is the only thing you point out. I mean this is suppose to be a crazy story. The Wii and 360 suck compared to the PS2 as well, they just don't have the burden of living up to the name

So, because you can't see how people can enjoy Gears 2 more than MGS 4, it automatically makes it a fact that MGS 4 is better?

Man, I'd love to see the logic to back that one up. And by "logic", I mean something other than "because I said so".

Kotaku's game of the year will be GTA 4.

It got 6 mentions out of the 7 from the editor's. The next closest were Gears 2 and Fallout 3 with 3 each.

I don't see how it could go any other way, quite frankly. If 6 out of the 7 nominate one game, it's gotta beat the next closest two at 3 each, right?

I think GS is the only place when MGS4 gets the GOTY. Still Kotaku is known to be a PS3 hater place though.DealRogers

In its history, Gamespot has never overrated a game as much as MGS4.

I recall a lot of lems saying MGS4 is just a movie and overrated garbadge when it got a 10, Konami's site gave hope for a MGS port to 360, Gamespot puts a sticky full of lems getting hyped.........only AC!D for IPhone!

Who cares about GOTY on sites anyway. Fanboys go mad about it but in the end they fail

Apart from the huge hype, what does MGS4 really have ?

Last gen small or empty levels, last gen gameplay a bit better than MGS3, last gen loading and last gen installs all the time

Also the in game visuals are mediocre, and i am beeing generous

Looks like another group of respected game journalists dropped MGS4 off the GOTY list. keep in mind some of them are kind sony fanboys.. it got nods for art, and other things. but noticeably absent from GOTY - as it should be imho.
