funny..that very same trailer got me even more interested in the game.

Reading his explanation kind of validates his opinion. but even so, I don't think it makes sense to judge a game over complex UIs and mechanics. People who enjoy that will enjoy Wasteland 2. Doesn't make it bad, or good. Just different.

This is a revitalization of the old school CRPGs of the 80s, and its long overdue. I'm generally not a big fan of the modern, diluted, "action RPGs."

I'm trying to maintain realistic expectations because the original was my second favorite Apple IIc game behind The Magic Candle.

I does look like it needs simplifying a little bit though, I like games like this but you could spent 2 hours creating a squad and start the game to find out you are not effective enough to progress.

Which is exactly what happened to me in Divinity, I created a squad with a ranger and a warrior/healing to find out that if you don't have a character with fire magic you pretty much screwed on the first level, and not only that a one handed warrior sucks with the starter gear and if your main 2 character die it's game over even if the others live.

None of that was explained before you began.

That sucks. I can also see see that I'll actually have to read in order to play this game too. At least it'll still have lots of violent bloody action. I'm just worried that won't have the patience to play a game like this.

There is a difference between having a game that is easy to learn but hard to master and a game that is either ridiculously shallow or convoluted.

Uhm... At least it made me watch the video and Wasteland 2 is shaping up nicely! Hopefully it'll be as good as Divinity: OS, which I suppose is also too hard for Kotaku employees.

@Wasdie: It saddens me how other parts of my family and even friends who are newer to gaming but starting to really get into it follow it religiously. I hope they get to know the industry well enough to realise how awful of a gaming news service it is. :(

Get a trainer-->God Mode-->Max Stats-->Dominate-->Finish game in one setting.

At least tell them to get Adblock Plus and possibly NoScript if they can handle that ;)

We'll see. I didn't like the first Wasteland 2 gameplay videos at all, but Kotaku's article title is nothing else but a bait. And they succeeded at it.

The video looks great. I mean, what do they expect? It's a game tailored for hardcore audience.

Are you talking about Divinity Original Sin? I really like it but it kind of annoys me that the environment dictates how effective your party is (or not). That is definitely a situation where they over-complicated thing unnecessarily presumably to stand out from the RPG crowd. Great game but yeah that's kind of stupid. I hope Wasteland 2 isn't like the quotes above suggest and you will get destroyed if you don't create the party the developer has already decided is the one that works best in the game that would be f***ing moronic.

@bussinrounds: Casuals are totally destroying gaming it's true but if that quote above is true and the devs have already decided on the perfect party and anything else makes the game difficult I'm out. I find it hard to believe though, would they really be that stupid?

Casuals though, damn them to hell they ruined ALL MMORPG's for me they are now single player games with chat rooms and you can play for an hour and get to level 100 or if the nasty monster bothers you no problem buy killer gear in the shop. ffs.....

Yeah I'm hoping it will be that way and I'm confident it will but that quote sounded terrible I'm just going to go ahead and say they got it wrong and misquoted. I really hate how easy games are now and I am almost becoming conditioned to it I need to play Planescape Torment on hard again and when I mess up and go looking for the 'item shop' damn some tears are going to flow.
