I'm gonna go back and play some more this weekend. See if my interest in the game comes back.

I think that as a game, it gets boring very quickly and many of the gameplay mechanics are bad (chasing and action sequences) are borked. I remember one case where you had to ask a woman if she knew what her husband was up to. She said she didn't and I selected true. I got the error sound. I went back and chose lie, which gave me the correct sound, but in the dialog the lady is like, "no, I really don't know what my husband is up to." Little things like that are all over the interrogation system in addition to "doubt" sometimes being legitimate doubt and other times it's seems as intense as choosing the lie option. I also hate that skipping the lame GTA style driving means that you miss great dialog. I wish letting your partner drive would just let your partner drive and you can put the controller down and watch a cutscene that looks like how a movie would handle people talking in a car rather than completely skipping past all of the dialog, most of which is pretty good. Additionally, searching for clues is pretty boring to me and after a few cases it all feels the same. LA Noire is one of the few games where I actually wish there was less gameplay and way more like a mix of Heavy Rain style action sequences (the chases and action in HR are waaaaaaaaaay more exciting and thrilling than anything in LAN, despite the lack of direct control over anything) and more dependent on cutscenes. The stories are cool, interrogating is really borked, but still fun, but nearly everything else about the game is a pain in the ass that I wish I could skip.

I enjoyed the game immensely, but can recognize its flaws. One thing is for sure: it's not for the attention deficit gamer that craves high action above all else. LA Noire shouldn't be marathoned. I approached it like a TV show. Each desk is a season, each case is an episode.

Why do people always think people with ADHD love explosions 'til no end? I have ADHD, and L.A Noire wasn't boring because it had no explosions. It was boring because it was infinitely repetitive and dull. If you played one mission, you played them all. The same applies to CoD, which has seven explosions a second. I think developers should playtest their games with attention deficit gamers. If they stop playing within five minutes, your game sucks.

I didn't use the term "attention deficit" as a clinical classification. I meant to refer to gamers that prefer action games and expected LA Noire to play like one.
