Lack of Gay Options "A Shame," Says BioWare Producer

I'd be fine if Bioware's games didn't have any sexual relationships at all since they're always so damn dumb and awkward anyways.

The reason depends on the person, some reasons are completely understandable, others not so much.

Some feel alienated because homosexuality is not represented in the game. "You didnt represent us, you must hate us!!!"
Others like to self insert into their characters. Unfortunately, self inserting into a definately straight character when you are gay can be difficult depending on how important romances are to you and the game.
Others simply are SJWs and want to push for the underdog.
Others want to roleplay as a character they imagine, if they wanted the option to play as a gay man, and the game doesnt allow them to roleplay the character imagined, immersion may be hurt.
Others simply enjoy having the choice to do what they want in the games without the game telling them no. This is one of the reasons Skyrim is so successful.

The same problem exists with females in games. Even games that have female leads will very rarely have the character kiss someone of the opposite sex. Even overly sexualized characters like Lara Croft seem to be completely celibate or asexual.

People just need to stop feeling so insecure about themselves. Seeing a gay couple won't turn you gay, and having a female lead kiss a man won't turn you into a woman.

While if anything, I would love it for romances to disappear entirely. If you have romances you might as well implement romances of both orientations.

How about they make the relationships not a total joke first.

Saints Row 4 nailed Mass Effect's attempt at romance.
"Hey Kinzie. Wanna ****?"

This is just dumb. As long as people keep making an issue about race and sexuality there will always be homophobes and racism. It's 2014 why can't people just be people without a label attached. As long as no ones hurting other people who cares. I don't have anything for or against this in games I also don't think its newsworthy either

That is just stupid to fret over relationship "status" in a fucking video game. Make your own game if it worries you that much...which those people wont, they'll continue to bitch and moan over nothing.

If you're playing an RPG that has full customization but then you can't choose your gender or sexual orientation... that is dumb. It's not unreasonable for someone to want to be represented in a game where the whole point is playing as a user created character. Don't know why anyone would be against what he is saying unless they have some unsavory opinions of members of the LGBT community.
