I'm no fanboy, but Nintendo just massively owned massively.

But still, handheld games dont get reviewed the same. I mean looking at the scores your saying that this DS game beats Gears 2, reistance 2, Killzone 2, and past console GTA games?

Rockstar ALWAYS delivers. Chinatown Wars is the best handheld GTA there is.

Perhaps what's most amazing about Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is that it doesn't feel like a scaled-down handheld version of a GTA game. Rather, it feels like a logical and somewhat experimental progression for the series, introducing a handful of great new features that seem destined to become standard in future iterations. And don't let the art style or the presence of simple minigames fool you; Chinatown Wars is every bit as deserving of its mature rating as previous games. It's also one of the best GTA games yet.

In other words. It's as good as the console GTAs

The game is as good as teh reviews are saying. For once i actually agree with a gamespot review lol. Its a easy 9 or 9.5 imo.

Best two games so far this year??? EMPIRE TOTAL WAR on PC and GTA Chinatown on DS!

Am I the only one who is enjoying Chinatown on DS alot more then GTA IV? To me Chinatown is just a heck of alot more FUN! Sure the graphics and what not are not as good, but ill be damned if Chinatown isnt the better game overall.

its a fantastic game, very deserving of the reviews its getting. everyone who was claiming "fail" when they saw the screenshots has been massively owned, and unfortunately some are still in denial.Ewok432

My 3 fav games this year are Empire Total War, GTA Chinatown and Killzone2.

I personally find Chinatown to be more FUN then Killzone 2 personally. This is the best GTA game in awhile and alot better then GTA IV imo.

Yes Killzone2 has awesome online, killer graphics, good sound,etc.. but the fun factor just isnt as high for ME PERSONALLY as in GTA Chinatown.

I have an idea.. how bout you actually play both games before saying there is no way one can be better then the other?

Not all games are rated the same way. Generally speaking I doubt there are any/many diffrences between how they rate games on the current platforms, with the exception of Wii and the handhelds. Where there are diffrences in platforms it is compared against titles on that platform only, but even at that a game on the DS platform could still be better than anything on other platforms even considering technilogcal diffrences. In this case the score has been uped to compensate for inferior graphics and sound, aswell as the reduction in price. It would not have scored the same if it were on the 360 for example, unless it was an arcade title, where again it is reviewed against games on the XBLArcade platform. This is stated in the review guidelines of this website (Though, as others will attempt to tell you, I do not believe there are diffrences in reviewing PC titles and PS3/360 titles because of how similar the games perform on each.).

I'm most suprised by this score. I didn't even think it was being released so soon after only just hearing about it. I thought there was no upcomming game that could have possibly scored 9.5, I thought E:TW might have, but that was shot down. Oh well, I am self owned.

It looks better than most DS games in terms of graphics. It's yet to be seen if it's actually better than GTA4 though, so for now it dosn't matter if people believe the game may be limited by the platform. I mean it dosn't have as many controls for a start, they would have to compensate for that in some way. There is a reason why people immediatly identify DS games as inferior, and it's usually because alot of the time they are, with exceptions of course. Usually RPGs. This is not an RPG though so their doubts are understandable.

A video game is a video game, and a 9.5 > all of 2009's lineup.

GTA:CW is the best game this year, and owns PS3's lineup this year.

I agree, most fun ive had on any GTA games and ive owned em all.

I hope the group who made this (rockstar london?) does the next console/pc version of GTA, as im having alot more fun with it then i did GTA IV.

Who cares if it doesnt have ground breaking graphics, the gameplay,features, story and art are fantastic! "BUT IT DOESNT HAVE TEH GRAPHICS!"

If the console versions were to suck, then yes, the DS version would "own" the console versions.

for all those handheld game doubters out there, consider this: is Mario World not better than every game that has come out this generation? Argued by many, yes.Are A link to the Past and Ocarina of time the best adventure games ever made? Very little refute that and they are both doable on DS or lower.

what about 2D games? In many cases certain series and Genres are only successful in this format. Castlevania and Sonic are good examples. Neither has ever really produced a good 3d game (in my opinion), however, their 2D games are always fantastic! Take a look at Street Fighter IV. It could have been made in 2D and put on the DS and be the exact same game with similar reviews.

In my opinion Braid and World of Goo are among the best games this generation and guess what, they are very doable on the DS

I'll admit that certain games benefit from more power (Survival Horrorand FPS gamesare very good examples of this), however, there are many that simply don't need all that extra power to be any more fun than they are (Platformers, Puzzle games, and rhythm gamesare good example of this)

Handhelds are just as valid as consoles

Well if you really can't see it, then look at last year. The HANDHELD game may not have won, but it was certainly nominated, and given a chance. You may not see a handheld game ever winning, but this one in particular certainly beat out precious games like Gears of War 2 and Super Smash Bros. Brawl here at GS for getting nominated. Never doubt, and realize GAMES are GAMES.
