Its great that it got a good score.

But still, handheld games dont get reviewed the same. I mean looking at the scores your saying that this DS game beats Gears 2, reistance 2, Killzone 2, and past console GTA games?

I dont think so, this just proves that whilst great, its reviewed differently to non handheld gaming systems...

Guybrush_3

well this comes from the review

Perhaps what's most amazing about Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is that it doesn't feel like a scaled-down handheld version of a GTA game. Rather, it feels like a logical and somewhat experimental progression for the series, introducing a handful of great new features that seem destined to become standard in future iterations. And don't let the art style or the presence of simple minigames fool you; Chinatown Wars is every bit as deserving of its mature rating as previous games. It's also one of the best GTA games yet.

In other words. It's as good as the console GTAs

Are you sure they didint mean in the handheld universe. I think someone should ask the reviewer about that line.

Of course he's talking about the entire series. He would have said handheld GTA's if that's what he meant.

Rockstar ALWAYS delivers. Chinatown Wars is the best handheld GTA there is.

BioShockOwnz

OH NO IT'S NOT!!! You're not thinking about the future. What if better GTA comes out the the DS, PSP, PSP2, GBA2, etc. in the future? That must be comsidered.

The reviews of GTAIV were horribly inflated across the board... but then again what site would give GTAIV the score it deserves, and get a ton of backlash.

Lots of handheld games prove this point. Its not just like chinatown wars JUST proved it. And...last I checked games with great graphics and great gameplay also get great scores as well. Yes. A world where both can co exist peacefully. It does exist. Look at flower. Not possible without good graphics. Yet the gameplay is also innovative.

Remember when the DS and PSP were announced? All the arrogance of Sony about it? All the media claming the absolute victory of the PSP? All the fanboys screaming "gimmik, casual, kiddyetc"?

Everytime such a game rules, it is a moral victory for Nintendo, imho.

Well Liberty City Stories is still an amazing game to play on the go. If you play to a system or hand helds strenghs you can never go wrong. Thats why china town wars succeeds.

As for Moral victory. I think theirs a good example of how Nintendo fails gamers for every time theirs a game that proves them right. Its 50/50 if you ask me.

Nintendo didn't make the game...Nintendo didn't own anyone, Rockstar did.

However, it was a title that everyone knew was going to be good, it was GTA for cryin' out loud.

It wasn't hyped because it was a no brainer, it's GTA for cryin' out loud!

So when shovelware comes out on the DS and wii it's "BOO ninty sucks!"...but when a good third party game comes out on a nintendo system "oh nintendo didn't make it" :|

Exactly.

You don't see the double standard here :?

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]Handheld don't go on the same standards as a console or PC game. So why is it shocking?IronBass
The reviews are stating it is as good as the console versions, and even better.

I don't think anyone takes that statement seriously. Its obvious hyperbole for several reasons. 1.GTA IV is not in competition with other GTA's. 2. Rockstar is not in competition with itself. 3. A 9.5 on a hand held is clearly a different animal than a 9.5 on a console. Especially when it comes to expectations in terms of graphics and gameplay.

If you read and watch the review (the video review offers more content), they explained everything about the gameplay being awesome. And, having played tons of handheld games that are better than console ones, I'm taking that statement very seriously, and, as you can see, a lot of people (including some that have actually played the game) between all GTA:CW threads.

China town Wars being awesome doesn't anti-awesome GTAIV though. Thats what I'm saying.

And I've never said it does. GTAIV is an awesome game by its own merits.
