Yea the platforming really depends on the level design.

And I agree, the create part of this game is stunning.

I will make the perfect platformer game in LBP and you must score it 10/10 :P

Seriously though, I hope we are all wrong about the platforming aspect of the game.

THey aren't bad...they are just basic...nothing wrong with that...But i do hope we get pleasantly surprised.

So whats on your mind for LBP?

Im going to make some cla$$ic levels also but I will reveal every level when Im done with, for now, it is only surprises.

That Shadow of the LittleBigColossus level looks awesome, but that mario not so much. Levels will be a hit or miss. Then games looks like it could be alot of fun.

Welcome to the land of user created content - a very small percentage of the levels will be worth playing.

That Shadow of the LittleBigColossus level looks awesome, but that mario not so much. Levels will be a hit or miss. Then games looks like it could be alot of fun.

People should realize user created anything has a generally high rate of failures. I seen enough boring mods, maps, and etc. in any type of user customization.

Is it me...or does the actual platforming in the game look kind of slow and boring?Shinobishyguy

That's because it's made for casual players. They should release an update so you could create fast paced Sonic type levels.

I don't want to get modded.

honestly I am going to have fun with LBP....its just to mess around. I know what to expect I don't expect MGS 4s epic bliss or anything from it.

LBP isn't really good for making old fashioned platformer levels imo. You have to design levels with the game in mind and how to streamline your levels so they aren't slow. Because its based on "physics," then you have to base your levels around the mechanics of the game. However, I will say that I'm disappointed in how sluggish they appear. I'd like to play it though to see.

Possibly the most boring videos i've ever seen.

I'm sure the actual game will be fun, but those are just garbage.

I agree- they need an advanced mode that allows you to control gravity strength, how high your character can jump, walking speed and running speed, how high your character can jump when running, hang time, whether you can crouch. They could also throw in the ability to build powerups - character state before powerup, character state after powerup (also the ability to make your character indestructable), how long the powerup lasts, etc. If you could control the character's size it would be really easy to do something like a mushroom powerup making you bigger.

I realize this would remove the 'casual' aspect to their level designer but they could hide it away under some advanced options. I believe this would add tons to the level builder - not only could you build levels you could build almost completely different games that had completely different feels to them.
