i wont be playing COD but I will be playing plenty of fun, innovative games or games that at least push the boundaries in some way or another.

I'm really beginning to think that you don't know what the word "innovative" means. Please, name all of the "innovative," "boundary pushing" games released this year.

Look for a full review sometime next week, complete with a breakdown on how well the controls function, the complexity of the dungeons, and whether the bosses are giant pushovers or worthy foes. I can tell you that I am thoroughly enjoying my time with the game. Now proceed to dissect my words to parse out exactly what score I will give and hope time flies by until you can get your own hands on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Tom
Next week? -_-

Delayed review? Smells like an incoming Quadruple-A bomb. If anyone would recall, Kevin talked about how "10's are decided by the whole staff" when Galaxy 2 got its 10. So this could indicate that everyone is getting polled as to their thoughts. I'm almost thinking of holding off on Revelations and opting for SS instead. GF-be-damned. Even though I don't have money for either, and should be content with Batman till at least Christmas... I have a hard time not feeling like a GOTG is upon us and I should be there first day.

But I've never been a fan of RE, so take my word with a grain or two of salt.

The reason why there isn't a review is because Tom is only at the beggining of the 6th dungeon. He said he got lost within the games sidquests and he's 37 hours in. He'll probably do the New Game + option too, after beating the game. I'd guess around Tuesday will be the review, if he plays SS casually during the weekend (if he can).

I have no problem with him taking his time. it really seems like he's enjoying it, so it's best to let him take it all in.

Terraria is not innovative. (actually, it's main criticism is that it's a rip off of Minecraft)

Portal 2 is not innovative either, although really good.

I'm afraid we have all made a huge mistake. Zelda, Skyrim, Uncharted, you name it, it's not better than Rayman. Rayman Origins is the best game this year. That demo was so awesome

While it may not be ultra innovative it really took the minecraft formula and layered on a actual game ontop of it.

I wonder what makes people choose either Minecraft or Terraria over one or another, despite they being identical. Is it that one is in 2D and the other in 3D? One is cheaper than the other? Although Terraria has a slightly more active battle system, the game feels a lot more limiting than Minecraft (probably because it's 2D, and it's crafting tools are not as...Minecraft-y).

My main attraction is that Terraria has actual goals aside from just building cool looking block art.

It has boss fights!

Minecraft has....creepers.

And besides, new Minecraft updates are adding a lot to the combat.

It only took them how many years? Perhaps when those updates actually see the light of day for fully fleshed out combat I'll change my opinion. But as it stands it's just Lego world Pixle edition.

The beta came out in 2010. :|

Also, a "Lego pixie thing" is more innovative, creative, and longer lasting than just a generic action adventure.

No offense to all the Nintendo fans but arent you guys tired of mario? there are like 3 mario games every single year :P, its like all i see is mario, zelda and pokemon. Call of Duty not as milked as mario, zelda and pokemon.

With that out of the way enjoy your zelda and dont focus too much on what a random dude gives it, just buy and play

I think a lot of Nintendo fans like myself, dont actually buy a lot of the spin off titles like you are refering to. I personaly only enjoy the main titles of the franchise. Games like Mario Galaxy or New Super Mario Bros. or Mario Land 3DS. Althouh Mario Golf and Mario Tennis were really fun games.

It's obviously a matter of opinion what one is a better game, but I wouldn't call minecraft innovative and creative. Building games have existed long before Minecraft did, it was just the first one to be popular. Saying that Minecraft is innovative is akin to telling me Angry Birds is innovative they both build on the corpses of games exactly like them. People always draw conclusions that Minecraft and Terraria are in the same vien because they both have bulding aspects. Terraria: Action adventure building game Minecraft: Building game. Minecraft will always be about the building first and foremost, Terraria will be about the adventure, loot, and progression of your character.

Says the guy with a MW3 signature. Aren't you tired of the same game over and over again? At least the Mario and Zelda games are vastly different with each main installment. Galaxy 1&2 being the only 2 games I can think of that weren't really different from each other. :P

We can't be tired of Mario when we only get one or two Mario games a generation, and 5 years between console Zelda games.

There are like 4 or 5 games released with Mario in them, but they are not Mario games (the actual platformers).

Call of Duty as a game is much more milked than Mario, Zelda, or Pokemon; since you get a new one each year. We had to wait 5 years between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword.

Maybe that will help you understand why a new Mario game is considered such a huge event, despite a game with Mario in it came out the week before.

This is incorrect, Minecraft is essentially a survival game. You are always surviving, and keeping your stuff from being destroyed.

There is a Creative Mode in Minecraft, where the game is simply a building block game, but that is like saying Call of Duty is a zombie survival game because it has a zombie survival mode in it.

The last Zelda game (console) was released 5 years ago, that's why Skyward Sword is a big event, it's not like some FPS in your sig that's milked every single year

Nah, the main games are rare enough, one or two a gen. It helps that I don't play handhelds, that new 3D Mario game doesn't really appeal to me.

Someone said that they get second opinions when they give games 10/10, so maybe it's up for consideration and they're letting other people play it.

well thats the difference between a Sony and a Nintendo game.Nintendo knows how to be creative and innovative and they dont have to rely on copying others games gameplay(Uncharted copied the gameplay and essence from Gears,Indiana jones and Tomb raider). There is probably a bigger difference between Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 then the difference between all the sequels of all the sony franchises added together(e.g. Littlbigplanet 2 + resistance 2+ killzone 2 + god of war 2 + uncharted 2 and gran turismo 5)

No offense to all the Nintendo fans but arent you guys tired of mario? there are like 3 mario games every single year :P, its like all i see is mario, zelda and pokemon. Call of Duty not as milked as mario, zelda and pokemon.

With that out of the way enjoy your zelda and dont focus too much on what a random dude gives it, just buy and play

well thats the difference between a Sony and a Nintendo game.Nintendo knows how to be creative and innovative and they dont have to rely on copying others games gameplay(Uncharted copied the gameplay and essence from Gears,Indiana jones and Tomb raider).

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a normal sequel, it is as much a sequel as any other sequel out there.

However, if you were talking about the difference between Mario 64 and Sunshine, or Majora's Mask to Wind Waker, or Galaxy 2 to 3D Land, then you'd be right.
