[QUOTE="i_like_pizza"]Wii sports (which, despite being packed in in 2 major regions still has an attach rate of abot .5 in the region it isn't, so the argument that it's a packed-in game doesn't really work), and Wii Play.NWA_31

But both of them were released way before Halo 3 came out and are exactly the type of games casuals like to buy. The whole point of this thread is that SSBB will outsell Halo 3, even tough it comes out in March and is a "hardcore" game.

Games are games are games are games. I gave you two games that outsold Halo 3. I don't see why it makes a difference what genre they're in. Also, SSB is NOT a "hardcore" game, in the sense that Soul Calibur is a hardcore game. It has mass casual appeal due to its simple (yet deep) gameplay and Nintendo-appeal. Melee sold 6.5 million on a dead console that only sold 20 million units total. Brawl is on the hottest console ever with a larger install-base that is rapidly increasing. It has a VERY good chance at outselling Halo 3.

hardcore is pointless when talking about halo. it gets just as much casual attention. same as GTA.

Bah, everyone knows people don't buy wii's for games, they buy them as inexpensive bluray players. That explains the low attach rate.

...

...wait. Anyways, there's no way SSBB will outsell Halo. If Mario can't, there's no way fanfic orgy will, no matter how insanely awesome it is. People seem content playing just wii sports. At least PS3 has an excuse for low attach rates.

Halo sells much from the beginning but Galaxy and Brawl will keep on selling the whole generation long so it will eventually sell LOTS more then Halo 3. Not that it matters but Lemmings are battling sheep in our own territory.

the wii has low attach rates because it's out the shortest amount of time and has grown the fastest. that would obviously lower the attach rate.

[QUOTE="MoldOnHold"][QUOTE="_KenKittyragi_"]Halo 3 sold 6.7 million, right? I don't see SSBB surpassing that with the install base. Well, actually, maybe. I dunno._KenKittyragi_

Yes but the Wii install base is far larger than the 360's.

360 has about 16 million?

Wii has about 18 million? It's not FAR larger, just bigger.

It just seems like Wii owners dont really buy games.

Yea so many casuals have Wiis (even grandparents) so I dont see it outselling Halo 3. Outscoring, maybe but not outselling
