Lems, a little reminder about the games YOU all hyped AAA before August 06

Call of Duty 2: 8.8

Condemned: 8.0

Quake 4: 6.6

Blazing Angels: 6.9

Battlefield 2: 7.5

Over G Fighters: 5.9

Prey: 7.5

Chromehounds: 7.9

Ninety-Nine Nights: 5.9

Dead Rising: 8.4

I remember that all these games got at least some AAA hype, because I used to be a deep, deep shemming back then. I still am, although I've moved deeper into Nintendo's camp since all the Wii bashing started.

The 360 wasn't much better off in June 2006 than the Wii and PS3 are now in 2007. The 360 had only three AAAs, one of which many people think is undeserved (PDZ), and the 360 wouldn't gain another AAA until Gears in November. Lemmings were as starved for games as sheep and cows are now. And for any console, having fewer than ten AAAs (under the old GS review system) means that that console has not hit the big time yet.

Here, I'll say something:

That didn't stop the cows from bashing the 360 mercilessly during that time. How come people forget that?

That's funny, because for every cow bashing 360 thread there were, there were three Lems bashing the PS2 back then....too funny. This site has NEVER been friendly to cows EVER. It started as a PC ONLY site, and from there on took the refuse from other forums.

Cows simply will NEVER own this place, as there are better places for them to go too....and rightfully so. Cow Domination always ends much more sooner than any other factions, and that's since I before I finally made a name here and gave my first post. I used to just cruise around.

Either way, the PS2 was the WORST CONSOLE EVER in it's GREATEST PWNING PRE 360 YEARS, and it got no slack. If anything, the 360 is the new PS2, and you don't see the TIDES a'changin'.

Again, that's due to the fact that Cows aren't welcome here. Just the nature of the site, the mods prefs, etc.

Blazing Angels was definitely hyped, as it was again for the PS3 (heheh). Over G Fighters, as well. I remember the excitement in the 360 forum leading up to that game's release. It wasn't anywhere near the same as for something like Geras or R6V, but for a while a large number of threads just before OGF's launch were devoted to OGF's score speculation.

And yes, N3 was also definitely hyped to be AAA.

I will have to admit, however, that most of the hype for these games came because E3 had just happened and lems were riding high following Sony's embarrassment.

Just to let you know, the 360 was the first home console I owned since the SNES. Bought it in July last year, which is why I remember the hype for these games

I'll accept I thought Condemned, COD2, Prey and Dead rising were going to get AAA, but never the other games.

Besides, how does this change the fact that X360 had far more better games at 7 months in than either PS3 or Wii?

I only hyped PDZ to be AAA and I was right. I can't account for other peoples hype, for all I know, none of those titles were hyped and you just picked all the games that didn't score very well and said they were hyped just to boost a very damaged ego.

Oh and I didnt hype any of those games that the OP listed.... although I did have high hopes for a few of them....

Honestly, every game there will be AAA hype by the misguided. The difference is three of those titles were launch titles, two of which obtained AA status. The rest had demos prior to the release. Sure enough, COD2, but hell 8.8 isn't shabby. The rest just NO. No one in their right mind hyped the rest of those games due to demos.

I can't believe you didn't meantion Lost Planet, a game with legitimate AAA hype, that "flopped".

Also, cows were 10x worse then lemmings will ever be. Atleast we have tangable evidence to disprove outragious claims. I remember "Kameo looks like an xbox game" and "The PS3 launch will own the 360 launch"...

I can't believe half of those were hyped AAA by anyone who has half a brain. The only two that actually stand out are COD2 and Dead Rising, both of which I think were hyped AAA and have flopped.

And the oblivion remark PS3 also got Oblivion within 7 months like 360. The same thing PS3 is going through 360 went through already. If they deny it, go ahead be a hypocrite.

You want me to go back over a year's worth of SW posts just to justify myself to you? NO thanks, I have a life. If you don't accept that these games were hyped, fine, but I remember each one of these being hyped on both the X360 boards and on SW. Maybe not by the majority, but lems are also bashing Wii and PS3 games that the majority aren't hyping AAA.

I know at least Quake 4, Chromehounds, N3, Dead Rising, and Prey were hyped by a lot of people.

Quake 4's hype was understandable; the PC version got mid-AA and came within shooting distance of AAA.

Chromehounds' hype came before E3, back when we had only a few "choice" gameplay trailers and that sweet CGI trailer to go on.

N3 was also hyped because it was Japanese (one of the few), and had by far the biggest battles in any 360 game. I was certainly excited for it, until it was released in Japan and bombed.

And everyone knows Dead Rising and Prey were hyped. Hell, I even hyped DR for a few weeks, although I said high-AA. Prey was hyped because it was in development for so long and it looked so unique at E3.

BTW, Malazan Book of the Fallen series = awesomeness.

I know at least Quake 4, Chromehounds, N3, Dead Rising, and Prey were hyped by a lot of people.

Wholeheartedly Agreed. I remember back about this same time last year when all people used to do was complain about the 360s lineup. PS3 and Wii are in the same position.
