The PS3 isn't doing well in any region. You guys are in serious denial. When the XBox 360 is selling more software in Japan then the PS3 is, that's a problem. Especially when the PS3 is outselling the 360 a little more then 2 to 1. This means people rushed and bought a PS3, but they didn't like much of the software for it. I thought Japan gamers hated XBox 360 games, yet they are buying more software for the 360, then the PS3. How is that possible? :shock:

The PS3 is slowly sinking like a cruise ship with a 20 ft hole in it. Sony will need to drop their price on the PS3 before the holidays if they want to stay in this race. They have some good titles coming, but most of the heavy hitters won't see the light of day until next year, which isn't good.

Maybe so, but look at the sales growth for each console. The 360 has flattened out because MS stuffed the channel. The PS3 has flattened out even more - why?lowe0

In the PS3 line you'll notice good sales from the get-go (Japanese ans American launch) followed by a flattening period, and then a surge (European launch) followed by a second flattening period. The flattening period should be closer to what the true demand scale of the PS3 is at this price point and it's no surprise that it's a little lower than the demand scale of the 360 at it's current price point - the PS3 is simply more expensive.

It's also currently battling a negative image, so that's not helping much.

Edit: Take note that I'm using the demand scale for this point in the year. All consoles have a bit of a slump during the summer, accounting for part of both the 360's and PS3's flattening out. The Wii is exempt from this rule this season (for the moment) because they still can't supply enough to meet demand, so their current demand curve in that graph is actually their supply curve. 

The XBOX360 market was sabotaged when two trucks staked with a million pounds worth of XBOX360 were stolen, people had to resource to that to keep it out of the competition. 85070537783

Whats funny about it all is that PS3 has only a percentage of the quantity of games that the 360 does and it is still selling as good.  Also, 360 had no competition, zero, for the first year of its life.  PS3 had an already established console and a console taking the world by storm to compete with.

And PS3 still matches the 360 at this point in its life!!!  So remember this next time you want to holler about sales or quantity of games.

Yeah alot of fanboys dont understand that the ps3 is doing alot better then the xbox 360 in its first 7 months out in the market in the same time period of both consoles and I have a number of reasons to show why and there is no arguement, the reason for this is because of the playstation brand alone is a seller. Here are my key reasons why the ps3 with its sales on par with the xbox 360 at the same period of time for each console being out in its first 7 months, why the ps3 is more impressive.

1. Of course as we all know the ps3 cost more then the xbox 360, and is why sales are holding it back from selling like the wii. Still for a system that cost so much, sony's ps3 is selling very well.

2. The xbox 360 in its first year out had no competition and if u ask me, the number of consoles sold for it at this time rate of how long its been out then the other 2, its not very impressive at all. U put nintendo or sony in the position microsoft had, and I guarantee, the other 2 would have a hard time catching up and the number of consoles sold would have been at least around 20, million or close to that range. U will see the ps3 pick up alot of steam, I guarantee that because there are alot of ppl still out there that want one and are holding out for games or a price drop.

3. Look at the games sony is showing only being out for 7 months, and u gotta say they are alot more impressing then what microsoft had in its first year. Before this year is over the games the ps3 would have got out, will be alot better then what microsoft had in its first year. I mean really, MS didnt really have no mind blowing game until gears of war came out but it took them almost a year to drop a game like that. Sony will have had alot more better games in its first year then the xbox 360's first year of games, just look at the games the ps3 will have had its first year out.

Now I know u may say there are some multiplatform games on here but still there good games, and this all the games coming that are good for the ps3 in its first year, and already 2008 sony has alot of its power house games and more new IP's in the making. This is why I dont get why ppl say, but but but wheres the games, or one game is not worth the price tag of $600. Give me a break man, its quite obvious the ps3 will have great games and I just showed u the list of titles that will all be on the ps3 for its first year, and if that aint impressive, then I dont no what is. Anyways just wanted to show some of the blind ppl out there that the ps3 is doing very well and will continue to do better, as time goes. :)

Those fun with numbers sites have had the 360 at 10 million sold since before xmas. 

What is funny is how everyone expects the PS3 to outsell a machine with a $200 lower price tag and a superior game lineup due to a year head start.  For what it is, its competition and what it offers at this point of its life its selling very well.  Plus sony knows that they are still milking people for PS2.  GC and Xbox got dropped as soon as the new system was announced.  PS2 has had a very good lineup of games after the PS3 launched.  GoW2 and a nice stream of RPGs.

You make a great point about the Wii, and it seems that  few here are forgetting that it was the same for the 360 early on.  Only Sony is cutting production this early in. 

The PS3 isn't going to win by matching the 360's sales from last year.

i understand, not saying US FTW! but until a better measurment for those regions comes into play, its hard to take credibility from VG charts, and since the US is the best selling region for all these things, i personally put more stake into it than VG charts

I wasn't saying VG charts is good merely that NPD is less acurrate (in determining worldwide sales) which were the numbers you wanted to use. 

I know DS and PS2 aren't PS3, Wii and 360 I was merely illustrating that the US is not always "the best selling region for all these things"
