I still own CoD 4, so I think I could keep on with that and maybe MW2 (if that remains free) because both of those are still going and would get a lot more players when everyone with good judgment passed on Black Ops.

But to charge a fee to play a follow-up to MW2 that is made by Treyarch and doesn't even have Modern Warfare in the title? Not even they would be that near-sighted. If they're going to pull that on us, they'll first make sure that Treyarch's COD is even a big enough draw to pay a premium for.

It's a Treyarch game so I'm not buying. For an IW CoD though, I'd still buy it but I wouldn't pay for online play as I don't even play online.

Lets see... I didn't buy Modern Warfare, World at War or Modern Warfare 2 so I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get a Call of Duty game that is going to charge me a monthly fee to play.

I won't even pay for MMOs or Xbox Live. Why in the hell would I pay for what is sure to be another generic, mediocre FPS?

Yes, of course. I mean, who wouldn't? Activision is a very good company, with excellent values and business practices. If they enforced a subscription on BO, I would certainly pay. I want to support the Publisher as much as I can, so they can continue paying their developers in a timely fashion, so they can in turn support the game with good, worthwhile content.

Nah. I have a valid reason though. I can't play online due to high pings, so I wouldn't play online even if it was free.

People would pay if there wasn't DLC, truth is that millions of people genuinely think MW2 is the greatest game ever.

I was going to get Black Ops, but if Activision does go on with doing this decision, then I'm not getting near it then.

But, I think I remembered hearing something about a Call of Duty MMO being made. Why not use the subcribtion fee's for that?

We're all saying NO but trust me, when they start charging, a lot of people will pay up and play online. Those guys will be the CoD fans and casuals.

XVision84

Really? The casuals will pay for online gaming? I can see the "hardcore" COD fans paying, but saying the casuals will pay seems contradictory.

I will buy the game, but wont pay to play sp, I already pay for live and will begin paying for psn plus(I know it isnt required for mp, lol) , isnt that enough? Kotick is such a douche, first his stupid idea to rise game prices further, then this? Man he should be removed from his job ASAP, he is gonna devolve the gaming industry

The casuals will not pay for online, the hardcore will pay cause they will play for years. The problem is that stunts like this are going to kill the industry, to pay £50 for a game is bad enough, to then have to pay an additional monthly fee on top just to play online is ridiculous, fair enough I understand MMOs charging, but a COD game, no! This shouldnt be happening, I have a quote about life which is 'money is the root of all evil' and that is certainly the case for Activision, they ripped people off with the DLC, they're now gonna rip people off with this subscription service, and that means more developers will start charging for online. I hope people boycott it, the sad fact is, about 255 people on these forums have said no, 10 million people around the world, however, will say yes, Activision will make millions and everyone else will copy, long live gaming.

They won't do that, it will obviously be a future game. However, no I would not pay for Black Ops online, but they would not charge for it. I would pay for a Call of Duty game if it got MMO quality support, and the same level of effort put into the game.

I will enjoy a lot to see people paying both Xbox Live subscription and Black Ops & other CODs monthly fees + paying for extra maps and new skins. In fact, I will be laughing so hard that probably will hurt my health.

Seriously: the console players deserved this kind of fate. They were all the current gen paying for all kinds on gimmicks, and paying extra bucks for unfinished games and map packs whereas most of PC developers give you tools to freely enhance the games with custom contents. They shoot themselves.

Of course, PC field isn't free of His own shadows: with Blizzard selling dope horses in WoW and menacing to demand payments for most of Starcraft II custom maps. But at the end I think that bot tactics will fall in PC: COD currently has no selling strength in PC to support a MMOFPS based on the franchise, since the MW 2 downfall.

People pay for activision games, and people will pay for a subscription.
And can someone explain to me why? I don't get it.
With the wii i understand it, with core games i understand it, with mw2 i absolutely don't understand what is selling the game.
I think it is the advertising, plus it not being horrible.
Is that all? Is that the new formula of success? Just throw the largest amount of marketing at it?

I'd pay $5 a month to get a new map or gun a month. As long as they do away with DLC packs, a subscription model isn't really much of a change.

My biggest fear is all the COD addicts pay to play the thing, and we see other shooters following the trend. Gaming is expensive as it is, more fee's like this are poo. Activision has 3/5 top selling games for the Xbox and PS3. I'm sure they have enough money.

They would have to give me a good reason for me to pay to play Black ops online. But I dont think they will charge for Bloack ops. Dedicated servers have already been confirmed on the PC so I dont see how charging for online would work there. But if it was like a COD mmo thing.... I could see myself paying if I liked the end pruduct.

Aside from that, the games suck.

I doubt SONY and, especially MS would allow them to do this. If SONY and MS both say no, then activision will have to back down ... atleast for now.

They'll probably come out with there own COD plug and play games console, to get around SONY and MS

If they start charging a subscription then I expect map packs to go free at the very least. Subscription models like those found on MMOs only work because the players regularly get something in return for their money other then the been allowed to play the game.
