console gamers are dumb enough to pay for online but i dont think pc gamers are. btw im a console gamer and im just saying what i seeriver_rat3117
There's nothing wrong with paying for online if the service is substantially better than competitors. It's why a game like WoW can pull in 11 million subscribers paying around $15 a month, and keep those subscribers. Because basically every other MMO is garbage.
If CoD: BO truly was far beyond any other FPS game out there I'd have no problem paying for it, but it's not. No CoD game imo has ever been better than it's alternatives.
We'll just have to see though because I know how gaga console owners go for CoD seeing as it's the only game they know about, but hopefully Halo Reach will steal thunder from Black Ops, and make it so Activision would lose fans if they add a subscription fee.As long as there's always good competition I don't think Activision can go far with charging for online.

Wrong. Ragnarok Online is awesome, as is Mabinogi. WoW is still the most well crafted MMO ever imo though. But I still prefer Ragnarok Online. The card system owns. :D
It brings a smile to my face... i love it. We are gamers in this thread and it shows.SW has never been more agreeing..

Gimp 2.0'd to be exact. :P
I'm too poor for Photoshop. :(
Let me get this straight:
MW2 is priced at $60, and it's likely Black Ops will be too
Xbox Live already is a subscription service - $50 per year
Then there's the subscription fee. Let's say Activision doesn't push its luck right away and sets it at $10 per month - $120 per year
So, if you want Black Opsfor the 360 to be fully playable in its first year of release, that'd mean you'd have to pay $230, with the costs being an annual $170 from there on. And that's assuming you don't gobble up some more delicious $15 map packs along the way, because there's a chance they won't even make DLC free - it's Activision after all.
Wow, have fun guys.
Exactly. We can keep this from happening by not buying the game new and not paying the subscription. Trust me, if we can do that, Activision will listen and put an end to it.Let me get this straight:

I wasn't planning to, but I fear there are many people out there who'll take the fee for granted and not think about what this can do to the industry. I just pray that many people will switch to alternatives, because every platform has more worthwhile shooters than Black Ops except maybe Wii (unless if you count Metroid Prime Trilogy).

Oh yes indeed. I think that may still be the most lopsided poll result in SW history.
The casuals will not pay for online, the hardcore will pay cause they will play for years. The problem is that stunts like this are going to kill the industry, to pay £50 for a game is bad enough, to then have to pay an additional monthly fee on top just to play online is ridiculous, fair enough I understand MMOs charging, but a COD game, no! This shouldnt be happening, I have a quote about life which is 'money is the root of all evil' and that is certainly the case for Activision, they ripped people off with the DLC, they're now gonna rip people off with this subscription service, and that means more developers will start charging for online. I hope people boycott it, the sad fact is, about 255 people on these forums have said no, 10 million people around the world, however, will say yes, Activision will make millions and everyone else will copy, long live gaming.Joshb2250£?! Use a price comparison website.
The console players blamed again? Didn't DLC and subscriptions start on PC?I will enjoy a lot to see people paying both Xbox Live subscription and Black Ops & other CODs monthly fees + paying for extra maps and new skins. In fact, I will be laughing so hard that probably will hurt my health.
Seriously: the console players deserved this kind of fate. They were all the current gen paying for all kinds on gimmicks, and paying extra bucks for unfinished games and map packs whereas most of PC developers give you tools to freely enhance the games with custom contents. They shoot themselves.
Of course, PC field isn't free of His own shadows: with Blizzard selling dope horses in WoW and menacing to demand payments for most of Starcraft II custom maps. But at the end I think that bot tactics will fall in PC: COD currently has no selling strength in PC to support a MMOFPS based on the franchise, since the MW 2 downfall.

It would be the dumbest move ever. No one would do it, The community would be non existant, and everyone would just continue playing MW2 seeing as how its still a relatively new game
