It's a 5 star system. Get over it. Not like the review counts for anything, and it already got AAA here.EuroMafia

It doesn't mean that he gave the game a low score, it simply means that he's using a dumb rating system. The more increments, the better.

That was a very well written review I don't understand how the hell people can actually say that Brawl is perfect when its not.

Brawl is awesome with friends (quite possibly the best game period), sub-par when playing alone and decent when playing online. My friend let me borrow his Wii and I've got to say playing online is not fun especially when theres no gamertag or any chat system whatsoever. When my friends are over the game is fantastic and hours dissapear like minutes but as an alone experience it eventually gets boring. I think that 4/5 is the perfect rating for this game.

4/5? isn't that the equivalent to 9/10? you're not happy with that? great as it may be, SSBB isn't the greatest game ever made. it doesn't deserve a perfect 10, it has it's flaws.GUNpoint_

ROFL!!!!

Now time for a maths lesson:

5+5 = 10

4+4 = 8

Thus: the game is rated 8/10

4/5 is 80 percent.

Can you really call it a 80 percent when their is no 90 percent.....Does not matter either way. Just a weird way to review the games

You're all obsessed with scores. Here's an idea: actually read the review instead of just looking at the score. There's no way you can tell if you should buy a game by just looking at the score. But I guess you people don't care about actually buying games anymore, all you care about is 'ownage'.

IMO Jeff's review of SSBB is the best I have read, it sums up everything you need to know about the game concisely and eloquently. And unlike a certain other review, he doesn't factually contradict himself within the space of two paragraphs.

Because of their score system, Giant Bomb is always going to be a site for gamers, not system warriors.

Everyone have their own opinion and Jeff has a different opinion than most Wii owners. Why can't we accept the fact that his opinion doesn't affect the game in anyway, just enjoyed your game.

Jeff said on his podcast that the 5 point system was that people would read the review rather than just looking at the score and judging a game by its score. He wanted a simple way so that people could find if the game was below or above average and if it would be your type of game.

You can't just super impose the expectations and standards of a 10 point system on a 5 point system. 4/5 means the game is incredibly good, it just didn't warrant a 5/5. jeff backed up his statementes with valid points that I agree with. People need to realize that SSBB isn't a flawless or amazing game. It has its fair share of problems.

So you agree with the fact that he fails to mention a lot of features. The review is basically this:

- There are a lot of characters
- There's a singleplayer mode
- There's a lot of stages

He hardly talks about the online features, he makes no mention of the stagebuilder, the different control options, the replay and screenshot maker, nor does he talk about the final smash attacks. The review sounds like he played through the Subspace Emissary and then played one or two matches just so he could write a quick review.

Be grateful, because the online features are hardly worth mentioning. Localized multiplayer isn't always an option for some people, and online multiplayer is their only way to play with other people. Even then, there has been constant problems with lag online, failure to connect, and sitting there punching an oversized, plush domo-kun for twenty minutes. The stage builder is not even worth mentioning either. Its not something that greatly extends the longevity of the game, and I've only briefly touched it. Sure there are different control options, and I've tried two of them, but I don't see how that necessarily adds to the score of the game itself. The game is a relatively mum game for someone who doesn't have the option of localized multiplayer.

I disagree with you on all those fronts, except the online since I havent tried it yet. But even if those features arent "worth mentioning" like you claim, does that mean they should be left out of the review? No, they're part of the game. What use is a review if you're going to leave out loads of features. Plus even you didnt make a mention of the final smash attack in this post. Because final smash attacks are just a very big addition to the game.

As the reviewer, he decides whats worth mentioning and whats pertinant to the consumer. If you feel those things should be in a review, then go ahead and start a website and write your own reviews. See how much traffic you get when you bombard consumers with useless information. I stated objective problems with the game, and stated my own opinion based off of those observation. Final Smashes are basically a temporary powerup, and anyone who planned on buying Smash in the first place know about them. Like I said, theres no reason to waste time mentioning unimportant things.

In your opinion, as an audiophile I whole-heartedly disagree. Most of the tracks came from old games, and the new tracks there were there didn't pop out at me in any way. It was far from a moving soundtrack, and I know music.

Not by a long shot. True amazing game soundtracks are games like Suikoden with music composed by the Philharmonic Orchestra and Silent Hill with its neon sounds.
