What's up with all this euphoria about MGS being multiplat?
MGS2: Substance was released for XBOX as well as for PC.
MGS: The Twin Snakes was released for GameCube.
It's nothing new.

Doesnt the "solid" in Metal Gear Solid stand for the 3d graphics? thats what i read somewhere.DBhova23Yes, you are correct.
its still on PS3 so i dont get why the fanboys even care. its not MGS4 which is what everyone thought was going to be going to the 360 and it didnt. Fanboys claim that this new game is better ownage but i think alot of lemmings probably wanted MGS4 more. In anycase the game should still hopefully have kojima involved to some extent because it certainly has potential to be another great MGS game even if its not really a part of the main series.
there are twice as many people with PSPs in the world as there are with PS3s BTWCorrect me if I'm wrong but isn't MG Peace Walker a PSP Game? :|
How exactly is that a win for PS3 fans? :|
Hell how is that a win for ANY console gamer unless you own a PSP? :?

Kojima should be working on MGR, screw the psp... And yes I own a psp, but I way rather have him working on MGR for consoles. Wtf is up at konami...
there are twice as many people with PSPs in the world as there are with PS3s BTW Dude.. I own a PSP and don't plan on getting this game.. :| I purchased MGS portable Ops and played it for like a week.. It just doesn't have the same atmosphere as it's console counterparts.. The recruiting thing became more of a headache than anything.. I just thought that Peace Walker was coming to the PS3 as much as the PS3 fanboys were saying how "it's the TRUE sequel.." :| Dude.. it's on a portable gaming system.. :?[QUOTE="OhSnapitz"]

Metal Gear Solid has always been a multiplatform franchise, only a few installments havent gotten past playstation.Everybody out there thinks MGS is going multiplatform, well is it? I don't think so. How can MGS Rising even be considered a MGS game, think about it. Hideo Kojima is not writing the story for it, Solid Snake is not the main character. And also so far every mgs game has been labeled "tactical espionage game". But MGS rising is labeled "Lightning bolt action" meaning gameplay wise it will be completely different from previous mgs games, there probably won't even be any sneaking or stealth action in the game at all. And if you watched the Sony press conference at E3 with Kojima, he himself said he is writing the story for mgs peace walker. And "it will be the next sequal in the mgs series", it will be featuring Big Boss, and it takes place 10 years after mgs3. And you guys are probably wondering, "well why put mgs rising on 360 and pc to begin with, why not just make it exclusive to ps3?". Well the answer is quite simple, its all about the money. The game that every 360 has wanted to play is the mgs series, well now they have it, OR DO THEY LOL! MGS Rising is going to be an action adventure game, that will feature a character from the MGS series (Raiden). And they named the game "Metal Gear Solid" just so people will think its an actual metal gear game and the will go out and buy it. Cuz they know the name it self "Metal Gear" will make it sell, even if it has nothing to do with the series at all. Just like everyone else I was TICKED off at Kojima and Konami for putting MGS on 360 and PC, but now that I think about it, its not even Metal Gear, so why get so upset.

kojima is loyal to sony....Kojima should be working on MGR, screw the psp... And yes I own a psp, but I way rather have him working on MGR for consoles. Wtf is up at konami...

OhSnapitzTrue its funny if they actually try to use a PSP game as ownage against MGS:R even though most people with a PS3 probably own a PSP aswell but it seriously doesnt count because yeah, its on PSP hehe.
Doesnt the "solid" in Metal Gear Solid stand for the 3d graphics? thats what i read somewhere.DBhova23I think when they first announced MGS1, that was their intention. Over the years and after three more MGS games, that meaning would have obviously shifted to represent Solid Snake.
Wat. MGS1 and MGS4 all star Solid Snake. He is the main playable character in both games. And Snake's clones weren't even in MGS4 (OMG SPOILERZ).Like MGS2 lol. also technically no mgs game features snake other than the original. all the others had clones or big boss. wait but big boss is the original soooo then 3 is the only one??? ah damn have to lay down again

They are copying Splinter Cell Conviction.
Ubisoft is going with more action, less sneaking this time out. Konami doesnt want to lose market share in the west, so they want to do the same.
However, they did not want to risk changing the main title. So what to do? Make a spin off, make it multiplatform, put the true sequel on the PSP.
Now everyone (Sony, MS) is happy!

Finally someone gets it.
It's all a matter of business strategy and trends. The general gaming public demands a more dynamic gameplay nowadays. Players too fond to the traditional gameplay of many genres, which may be slower, are more and more becoming a minority. Devs are accelerating basically every genre, be it RPGs, Sports, Strategy games, etc. Even Civilization is way faster than it was. The current day player doesn't have the same patience that yesterday's player had. So it's a smart move to try a new title with some more action.
Even if it scores lower than most MGS titles use to score, this will be probably a commercial success, you can bet it.
get off system wars, your oppinion can always be summarised as, i'll use my 360 as a pillow now, and 20 years from now.Give me the new "lightning bolt action". I'm tired of the milked stuff.

TC even if Kojima isn't writing the story for the MGS spinoff. Wouldn't you figure Shuyo Murata would be working on the story. I'm thinking you probably don't know who that is. Well he is the co-writer from MGS2-MGS Peace Walker.
@ SambaLele it wasn't called Metal Gear Solid because of Soild Snake. It was called MGS because it was the first Metal Gear title to be in 3D.
I knew right away this game was going to to go the PS3. But I'm not really a fan of Raiden his moves are cool but he's kinda well you know. I'm looking forward to MGS: Peace Walker mainly because its about BIg Boss and continues his story.

Thanks for the info. I looked it up and found this Kojima's statement on the matter:
"Hogdson, David. Metal Gear Solid: Official Mission Handbook. "Kojima: "Metal Gear" is as it is, and "Solid" has a deep meaning. Let me explain. This time Metal Gear is displayed in full polygonal form, and I used "Solid" to describe the cubic structure. also, the "Solid" means to the third power mathematically. Also, most of the people don't know that there is a Metal Gear 1 and 2 for the MSX, and I wanted it to be the sequel for those. And, of course, Solid from Solid Snake."
You're right.
System wars is funny. This thread seems to examplify the primitive instincts of humans to always associate themselves with being a part of a group.
Good amount of people on here probably feel rejected or shun from the real world. Some how they seem to feel like they belong here or that they are part of something bigger siding with one of these coporate brand names.
