If it's a largely closed off platform, then it's not a pc.
It will have the advantages of a pc, but for all intents and purposes remain very much a console.
And what is good about that? Closed platforms do nothing for the players. The entire systems wars thing is just silly. Why people are about loyalty to a box of plastic is beyond me. If the entire industry went open platform it would be far better for gamers.
Sony and Microsoft get higher quality games (exclusive deals) and their platforms have much higher standards than PC.
Steam doesn't care if you can't develop a game and just steal assets, it's 100% fine.
Console loyalists crack me up. There are thousands of great games on PC. Not sure why anyone should care if there are just as many bad games. Open development would mean that Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft games and PC games would be played by all not just those with a specific box. Think what you will, but this is going to happen. It is not a question of if, more a question of when. Consoles are really pointless at this point. Just look at how many games that would have been exclusive a few years ago are now on PC. Look that the direction X-box is going in with Windows for more upcoming games. The writing is on the wall. Consoles days are numbered. (10 years max would be my bet.)
Most of the best pc games are about a decade old. In general the golden period was 1998.
Almost every AAA quality game is a console port. Even genres inherently superior born on the control scheme of a mouse and keyboard such as FPS are now the domain of console, every one, barring multiplayer only where piracy is less of an issue, are now console developers with perhaps a few graphical enhancements.
Most of the resentment to consoles is because of this, with pc gamers having some deluded believe it's the console fault.
Truth is, because of the consoles closed nature, piracy was less of an issue, and to average Joe, it is more appealing.
That is indeed one of the primary strengths that allowed consoles to decimate the pc market, along with pc gamers themselves simply put - not respecting their own platform, abusing it's open nature for short sighted personal gain.
Now they kinda run round pointing fingers blaming world, with this.. elitist facade.

Geez, no wonder I did not realize what you were talking about. You were seriously bragging about an MMO that was released in 2004? I should have known better than to expect an actual quality title from PC.
There are some numbers that stick out to me on that list. Like 450 PC games, which seems low. 5 being 90 or better, 46 being 75 or better.
But the PS4 having 400....and something games, that seems very high and im wondering what they've included in this list. Are they including previous generation games for download?

It was released in 2016. Some PC Expansions are full priced full releases, since they contain as much if not more than a full release. It scored 9.0, get over it.
Oh and at least it's an actual game. LOL Sony's only dominant genre is non gamer rental fests.

Game forums are in general completely out of touch with the reality of things.
Game reviews and game rewards are all personal opinions, and have therefore zero meaning to anybody else then that person or group of persons that decide it.
Ask at a playstation event what game they think is best, you will most likely get a playstation game, do it on another platform the same story.
So at the end of the day, it depends on who you ask, they are all personal opinions.
The real awards are the ones that have the market prescience and frankly nor sony or nintendo or even microsoft have much pressence on these markets. It's mostly blizzard / valve / riot games that rules the world here, with a butload of other company's that function on mobile.
To give you a example of market pressence.
Riot games made 1 billion dollar in 2014 from LoL. 2015 that's 1,6 billion dollar and has over 100m users. It's still growing.

Sony made this year about 0,5b profit out of all there projects that's if you withdraw there costs and they are by far the most successful at it but have do jump huge hoops and do loads of work to even get there.
But then again, people don't want to see the reality, they rather chant the crap they read on sponsered websites and heavily sponsered events that give so called awards that mean nothing.
@Gatygun: I think he meant PC as in prebuilts, not the games and such. Not that I'm surprised. Prebulits suck and most people who are going into PC gaming are either buying parts individually or they get help from people who know better.
