Sucks, I was really looking forward to this.. some of the things that the reviews are bringing up seem like legitimate criticism that could really kill it for me though.

The reality is nobody can do these types of games like Fromsoft.

So out of the last 5 new games I can think Wenzen has been notable in hyping

Lords of the Fallen, BG3, Armored Core 6, Diablo 4, Callisto protocol. 3/5 have been massive flops. For someone who claims to be able to easily predict the quality of games, he sure misses around half the time.

Not to mention, EVERYONE knew BG3 would be a good game. So he doesnt really get any credit for that.

As for the games I have been hyping

Dwarf Fortress, Street Fighter 6, Tears of the Kingdom, Pizza Tower and Rain World Downpour have all been big hits. Downpour sits at a 90% positive on steam (nothing on metacritic), and Pizza Tower is one point shy of being a 90+ game on MC. The other 3 are 90+ games on Metacritic.

Edit: Funny how Wenzen has been looking down on all these games, save for Rain World (which I have never seen him comment on).

Lords of the Fallen has performance issues and netcode is fked. Its not a flop at all. They hired some Starbucks hipster that hates challenging games to review the damn thing, so what can you even expect from someone like that? He should stick to reviewing pokemon entries.

I didn't hype D4. I played it because i never got into Diablo, wanted to participate on the launch of a new game from day one, and so i did. Also wanted a game to grind, and that DIDN'T give me my fix whatsoever.

As for Callisto, the gamescom gameplay shown had me worried (the one you were on rails falling through some sewers, outdated af game design), but as for the rest, they weren't showing anything. I could only be excited for what's shown, and the fact that they had the OG crew working on the game. You couldn't have predicted the game having 3 enemy designs, you couldn't have predicted it being extremely liear with no exploration, you couldn't have predicted it having an extremely shitty melee system when there's more than one mob at once.

Yes you were. I remember all the times you were talking about how Diablo 4 was gonna bury Tears of the Kingdom. Not to mention, how much you looked down on Street Fighter 6, and talked about how I should get Diablo 4 instead.

We both know how much you were hyping up Callisto Protocol, you were pretty much talking about it nonstop. Hell, you looked down on MY Dwarf Fortress! A game that has a metascore of 93 and an OC score of 90.

@hardwenzen: Hey, so I played probably 1hr-2hrs last night. Not a lot to give you too much information yet, but one thing that stood out immediately upon playing was the drop in frames. I wanted to play in quality mode, but had to switch it to performance mode in order to have a smooth experience. I had no issue with the frame rate or lag after swapping over to it. But the game is really bad if you try to play in quality mode. I'll put down bullet points with some explanations.

• Combat is satisfying. There are button combinations in this game, like L1+R2, L2+R1 or R2. It can get a little confusing which does what. There have been plenty of times I wanted to use my Lamp but ended up using a strong attack. :3
• You basically have two lives before actually dying, unless you die in the Umbral realm, in which case it's only one life. The system here is interesting, but it's a nuisance to have to go back and forth between the realms in order to get somewhere you want. I would have liked this more if I was allowed to get out of the realm with a button press, but you have to find the exist. :/
• Stats are not explained. I don't recall seeing any tutorials in-game, nor is there any button that explains what stats do. The Holy and Bleeding stats are the only ones that would need explaining, and there isn't anything to tell you anything about them.
• The game is very linear 2hrs in. I've heard the boast from players that the game is large and fun to explore, but it's really a lot of "playground" areas with a ton of corridors to walk through.
• I'm very thorough with my exploration, and I've yet to find a weapon that's any better than my main one I got during character customization. To add more, I chose a "holy" build, as I always try to with these Soulsborne games, and I'm not even sure if there are any incantations or spells or what. So far I just have a higher than normal "Radiance" stat.

To conclude so far, the game is starting to get more fun. I'm hoping once I beat this main boss that it'll open up more. But it's clearly not yet fun to where I'll sink in more than a couple of hours a session.

What game? If you're referring to lords of the fallen, then yes, of course. Where did you see me denying it? I said i didn't hype D4, not lords of the fallen.

lol really? if you thought i was serious, you need your bs detector adjusted. Everyone hated D4 on SW, so i was just annoying everyone with it while playing the game (and i did enjoy it at the beginning). It worked wonderfully.

Again, nobody denies me hyping Callisto. I hyped it on SW before everyone jumped on the hype train. But, i could only hype what was shown, and what was shown is only a fraction of the whole picture.

Yea, all i am hearing is how bad the performance is, and if you were to invade, or do coop, it rubberbans to oblivion. And i hear there are hundreds of weapons in the game, so i wouldn't be too worried about finding something better, 1-2h of playtime, especially if you're thorough, is simply not enough.

Either way, you arent as good as predicting the quality of games as you would like to believe. So maybe you should stop bashing starfield without having actually played it first. I went on a full tirade against it on a Discord group I am a part of. But I could honestly do that, because I have actually played the game. You can only parrot other people's opinions.

I am still very interested in lords of the fallen. Every worthwhile reviewer on youtube is saying that its a good game, so i really couldn't care less what the Starbucks Hipster that reviewed it on gs thinks.

It's all about the voice acting, motion capture performances and production values in Hardwenzen's world. Game design is secondary. Nothing new.

I played Lies of P for about 3-4h today. Holy ****, i haven't seen such a stale and repetitive rpg since the ps360. The fact that it got praised as the best soulslike by many is just🤢The more i play of these wannabe souls games, the further to the godhood fromsoft ascends. Honestly felt like playing call of duty, but as a souls game. Unimaginative, extremely repetitive and linear. Expected it being dogshit after the demo, and this couldn't be more correct.

What? I just came back, was at a buds house, and he had it on pc. Because everyone was saying that its so good, i took a controller, told him to stfu, and played the game no questions asked. It was dogwater.

But its the little things that i did not knew were so bad. Like when you're exploring, there's no fking environmental sounds whatsoever. All you hear is water running on the roof and whatnot. Wtf kind of immersion is that? Holy shit the game was bad. This is literally on par with Surge and first lords of the fallen, and people are praising it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lies of P is just the best Souls like it’s also straight up as good as FromSoftware’s best. Played through the game three times myself and it was absolutely fantastic. Currently in a three way tie with Tears of the Kingdom and Resident Evil 4 Remake for my 2023 GotY. 10/10 game.

lies of p is a perfect example of a cheap mimic. their goal was the ride the bloodborne art direction, but you need quality artists to deliver the aesthetic, which of course they don't have. At the end of the day, you get some sterile ass looking blooodborne knockoff that reminds me of a fake pair of oakley glasses sold on aliexpress. This is your Lies of Pee experience.
