Lair was hyped AA. I dont recall any Cows saying that rumble was actually the past. Sony reps comments are separate from that of fans. Also Lair was hyped to have better graphics than Gears.

From what I've seen of LO I'm not impressed. We haven't seen or know enough about FF XIII to compare.

You mean "some of" the hardcore fans. Like I said they can't please everyone. FFXII changed a lot, but any "hardcore fan" of the series should understand by nowthat FF titles change, that's a fundamental concept of the franchise.

If Square (SE) didn't change the FF titles you would hear how much a "rehash" the games are, but in the exact same instance if Square (SE) change too much than you hear people complain about it being a big departure. They'll always be damned by some portion.

Well, Sakaguchi himself did say that he wanted to crush Final Fantasy at his feet (perhaps jokingly, perhaps seriously, perhaps a mix of both), so he kinda did set his games up to be the Final Fantasy killer...

I never saw why people thought Blue Dragon was an FF killer; of the 2, Lost Odyssey looked like the more serious threat to FF. However, I don't think Final Fantasy warrants the respect of a "killer" anymore, as most of the people who made it great are no longer there (not to say the guys who took over aren't very capable). Where are the founding fathers? That's right, Mistwalker. Blue Dragon always looked like a fairly bland attempt at making a mainstream RPG, but Lost Odyssey looks like a much more serious effort. I'd personally hype LO at least an 8.0 (although I don't believe in the concept of "hyping" games).

My mistake on the egm score, but if you check gamerankings.com it says it got a 7, and there is no other rating at 6.5.

no.. alot of cows said the game was going to be a gears of war killer and the first killer app for the ps3 that would truely show of the power of the ps3 in terms of graphics and great gameplay. back to your thread... im personally hyping the game to get an AA rating and i feel whats going on in that official thread is crazy.
