How is FFXIII in any relation to FFVII?

It's a freaking name. :|

I guess FFVIII is just a spin off of FFVII b/c the protagonist name is "Squall", which is another weather related term. That's some of the worst logic I've ever witnessed here and I've sadly been here a long time. There's no "maybe" about it.

It's so obvious they can't move on that the iteration is nearly double the number 7. :|

Yes they returned to the iteration VII and released a bunch of spin offs. Last time I checked the fans actually wanted that. See this is an instance of SE being damned if they do and damned if they don't.

i truly believe that Lost Odyssey will be the victor. Heres why:

When it comes to graphics, yes FF13 probably will be able to beat lost oddysey. But when it comes to the artistic style of the graphics, LO beats ff13. The dark, moddy atmosphere is something that we rarely see in rpgs these days ( the only i can remember is the shin megami tensei series).

And also for a change, the main character isnt an emo boy like on every final fantasy, its a tough looking badass dude with a huge sword.

And last but not least, the story seems like it will be of much higher quality. A story about immortal warriors who have lived for 1000 years, and all thats happened to them and what theyve had to live through, its just going to rock.

Lost Odyssey is definitely the underdog here, but like  the most famous underdog movie character in cinema history would say, it aint over till its over.

Interesting, Squall and Cloud would be the only "emo"-ish (I hate using that as a description) characters of the FF series lately. Wouldn't you say that Tidus (X), Zidane (IX), and Vaan (XII) are all a bit too jovial, cheerful, and hardly dressed for the "emo" realm?

And gameplay? I like LO gameplay more than Blue dragon. We haven't seen much of WKS. Besides LO gameplay can get better.

And gameplay? I like LO gameplay more than Blue dragon. We haven't seen much of WKS. Besides LO gameplay can get better.

Then why are we talking about how LO and FFXIII are. I pretty much wasted my time here and so are most of the people here. LO could get better and we haven't seen much of FFXIII. At this point LO has great graphics and good gameplay.

Lost Odyssey may look cool, and it's got a good premise, but it seems that the gameplay harkens back to the "Dragon Quest" school of game design. There's nothing wrong with an RPG whose battle mechanics have hardly changed in 20 years, but they're definitely not to my taste.

Unless there's some really big wrinkle to the LO battle system that we haven't seen yet, I'm not too interested in getting the game.

i don't think it will bury ff13 i don't think it will even have better sales than ff13 just because ff13 has the name final fantasy in it and the playstation brand has more jrpg lovers on it, so people will buy ff13 just because it has ff in it no matter how bad it is. But i do think Lost Odyseey will be the better game though, this is just my opinion.

I don't mind futuristic style for the most part, but I think Medieval style work better with RPG.
