Low settings vs consoles - which looks better?

They are hardly different, assuming you are using a cell-phone sized screen.

As you can see hardly any difference, if I took away the labels you couldn't tell. Only visible difference is in the second image you can see some more grass in the PC version that loaded in, but that's it. Barely any difference from the console version.

PC because of higher resolutiuon & framerate

Console games mostly run at low settings compared to the PC version, meaning lower res shadows, textures, no AF/AA, lower draw distance, etc etc, if the game was lead platform on consoles (which 99% of multiplats are), Higher settings barely look better

Compare even BF3 on Low to Ultra, the difference is tiny, with most console ports the biggest difference is shadows, which are much higher res on PC, but these games are designed with console limits in mind, so they tend to hide the low res shadows & such really well, which in turn makes higher settings on PC look barely noticable

Compare actual PC games to the console versions, the difference is huge, Crysis, Risen, Metro 2033 etc etc but don't bother comparing the average multiplat, since the PC version is just a port with a few tweaks

He just posted two pics that he claimed were from the 360 and PC version, pointing out how there's no difference, but they're literally the same picture. Look at the URLs. There is little difference, see for yourself. One image is from the 360 version and the other is from the PC version. I removed the system logos from both.

Can you tell which version is which? Didn't think so.

I would say consoles for stability reasons.

All consoles will run a game at a near constant quality level.

A PC running on low settings is likely streching the limits to being able to play the game.

A PC just reaching the minimum system requirements will have a quality jumping hell ride.

Now, an above specs PC going low could be better than consoles, but that depends on the game itself.

Which looks better, depends on the resolution played. A low native 1080p should have a better overall image quality than console 720p, I guess. But low 720p vs console 720p, I'd give consoles an edge here, as they aren't exactly running 100% low PC settings. There are a few higher settings mixed in there...

Still, the thing I'd consider the most is the frame rate. If I could maintain at least a stable 45+ FPS on PC low settings, I'd take it over consoles any day...

n64 was the only console ever competitive with pc around it's launch.

star wars on n64 was comparable to pc version but pc was still sharper with a good card.

from what ive seem most times they are the same on low.

Sometimes it is a bit better low on PC than console on games like BF3. But for the most part they are the same.

Graphics wise lowest setting on some PC games can look pretty bland, gameplay wise it all depends how the game is optimized and if you're online or offline. Planetside 2 and WoW are the only games I've played online with low settings, PLS2 still lagged in big fights while WoW I played on lowest setting back when it first came out during MC, had to turn down the settings cause 40 people in a raid environment back then was killer on PCs. I remember playing The Witcher when it first came out on low setting cause my comp at the time was some crappy Walmart HP.

Consoles are perfetly fine for graphics and resolution, the PC fanboys (Hermits) just overexaggerate things.

And remember, the best looking game ever made is Uncharted 3. And it's only on consoles (though The Last of Us will replace it as graphics king soon). Same goes for Metal Gear Ground Zeros, it's a console game and it rivals anything on PC.
