I've just replaced an E-74 machine, still waiting to work my consumer rights with the retailer to get some recourse.
Â
It is complete BS, it's the same underlying thermal defect related issue as 3RROD but obviously, not covered under the extended warranty.
Â
Not that I would condone such a thing but I don't think any amount of toweling can 'progress' a single E74 light onto the full 3RROD.
[QUOTE="HarlockJC"]One thing you would have to give to Nintendo is they would not charge for any of the repairs of their systems. From errors like this. I had a friend who anytime he downloaded a VC game it was in black and white. The whole game would play in black and white. Well normal retail games worked normally. He said when calling them he was the first they had with this error but they fixed for free.
SolidTy
Did he have to send it away? I don't like that process, but I agree, Nintendo's N64, GC, and Wii were magnificent in reliability.
Sony's PSP, and to a greater extent, the PS3 are the only well made Sony console machines (The PSOne and PSTwo, but not the PSX and original PS2).
Strange error, I would have deleted the game, and redownloaded it before I sent it away though, I hate the idea of a system bouncing around in a box.
I know you didn't just say the PSP was good reliable hardware? Maybe you missed the part about the dead pixels at launch. The PSP was far from reliable. Te PS3 is Sony's ONLY reliable gaimng hardware they've ever made.
[QUOTE="NinjaMunkey01"]I hope MS is forced to increase the warranty again, my 360 will not have a warranty in a few weeks so i guess Im going to have to pay for more warranty...

At the very least, cover any Red Light E-series error, like E-74 for 3 years. The Problem is the hardware, like RROD.
Why cover a problem very few people experience? Just because YOU might have experienced it doesn't everyone else has. This so called E errors are in less than %3 of all 360's and nothing like the RROD issue. 1 year is standard for hardware and trying to get a company to pay for every little thing is crazy.
[QUOTE="RonnieLottinSF"]Never heard of it and I know a lot of people with XBOX360s.SolidTy

lol....
I have had 3 RRoDs, and every friend I know IRL has had at least one RRoD. I can safely say I have never saw anyone IRL with an E-error, and to be honest, I've only heard it mentioned a few times even here.
So to me, RRoD is still the significant issue.

Yeah between me and my closest friends (about 8 ppl in total) I was the only one of us who purchased a launch to get the red ring of death, even though I play WAY less than all of them lol their's still work fineÂ

and also you get a red ring, i suffered through it with my second 360, right now im on my third

Not to be picky, but you mean you get a red light on the light ring, not entire red ring.... that would be something completely differant all together.

I just got E-74 last month, 1 month after my 1 yr warranty expired. I was also wondering if something was done in newer units to hide the RROD with an E-74. Was happily playing fable 2 when my sceen went all screwy. Turned it off, back on again and got E-74. Cost me 119 CDN to get it fixed. Talk about BS.
This is the first I've heard of it.Bigboi500Same here. I guess you always find out something new in System Wars about 360 problems. Shouldn't 360 problems be posted in the 360 forum though? Heck I even checked out the 360 forum and these E problem is nowhere to be found.
Pay 50 bucks get the extended warranty and that covers everthing.
My consoles are covered until 2010 and 2011.

3% is still a hell of a lot. Considering the Wii and PS3 totals are at around 1%. 3% is horrible for a specific problem and what's worse is you're down playing it saying well RROD is worse. Talk about low hardware expectationsnot suprising, afterall the box is nothing more then a toy. You play with toys long enough they will break.PvtGump8No need for fanboy remarks its pretty lame
[QUOTE="PS3_3DO"][QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]im actually hearing a lot of E-74 after the NXE update.SolidTy
Maybe they are modders.
I know a few modders, but they got thru the NXE Fence just fine. Really irks me, I was hoping NXE was a way M$ could attack them.
O'rrly? Maybe they are lying to you and don't have modded 360s.

NO, they were trying to sell me 360 games for $5 each. I said no way, jose.
I never had any R-Rod problems but I had experience the E-74 error last month. Sucks too I haven't owned my 360 for a year and yet and already having problems.jasonharris48
Wow, another notable poster, a Level 41 user.
I'm sorry to hear that.
This thread is filled with users that had this problem, but some other posters here never heard of this. This is good for everyone's exposure.

When I say people I mean real people. Any one on the internet could be talking out of their butt hole for all I know.
Oh and when I say people, I mean hundreds. Never heard of the error or my friends who have a 360 getting the error. That doesn't mean its not out there, but the TC makes it sound like it is the RROD all over again which it isn't as far as I'm concerned.
I got E-74 whilst playing Mass Effect 10 months ago. If anyones interested in cheating the sytem and getting your money back do what i did. Use the towel trick on it to make it work (It works for RROD AND E74 lol) then trade it in to a store as fast as possible. I got about 130 pounds for mine and got a PS3. Indie_Hitman
A better suggestion (assuming you're UK based) would be to do some research on your consumer rights, Sale of Goods act. I don't believe there is anything similar in the states, you guys get screwed so hard on faulty goods it's untrue.
what causes the produces the extra heat on the mother board? is it the cpu and gpu if so has anyone tried liquid cooling on there 360?dam-I-Hate-Work
why should anyone have to install a liquid cooling system in a console.

No, RROD is more prevalent, that's for sure. The TC is suggesting there is another problem brewing with the 360, and M$ doesn't have to cover it for 3 years. The sad fact is the problem is still due to the Head in the console.

Yeah, it's because we got Lobbyist's that distract our lawmakers from helping the people that put them there, and find themselves helping big business. If's appalling.
I'm curious what You mean about how bad we have it...because I would love to look into that!
