M$ growing 360 E-74 Error, the replacement for RROD severe problem?

Does anyone know the official word on the RROD thing?

I heard that the new 60GB xbox pack is basically the new hardware released to stop RROD. Is this true? Has anyone got one of these that has RROD'd?

And how many are there ? How many people does a forum have ? 100.000 ? Even if all 100.000 report a E-74 it would still be tiny fraction of 360 install base of 28 million, would still be less than 0.5%

Now i doubt 100.000 people reported E-74, so if it is about 100, then E-74 affects 0.005% of 360 install base by that forum

What did you do with the real Toriko?

Too many people placing the 360 (or its power supply) inside of enclosed cabinets without ventilation, maybe? The only E-74 errors I've ever seen have been on the display units they keep in airtight plexiglass stands. I've had my 360 about a year and haven't had any problems. I've had friends who have gotten the RROD, but I've never seen an E-74 error outside of the display units.

Call me a cynic if you like, but I consider this type of E-74 scare-mongering to be ridiculous. This type of hardware-failure exaggeration always seems to chuck what little intelligence is in System Wars into a blender.

E-errors = Exageration-errors...meaning you play too much and overusing the cheap hardware!

What is the E74 error? My friend recently had the video card die on his X360. First it started displaying with only 16 colors, then he turned his 360 off turned it back on and the video would never come up again. Is the E74 error what he is experiencing? He called MS for help but they want to charge him to fix his 360.

Yes, most likely that is what your friend is experiencing. There will be only ONE RED LIGHT if that's the error, among other errors.

I dont think anyone can say with a straight face that MS management of the QA process was adequate for the 360.

I've only had one RROD *knock on wood*, but it's out of warranty now....

If the 360 didn't have such a terrible failure rate i would have already bought one. Hopefully they address these problems, and actually fix them. If i buy something i expect it to work.. if a company doesn't do that then you should really stop defending them.

I have only had E74 once On my Elite, but I do hope this just goes away when RROD goes away.
