i dont even know where to begin so ill try at the beginning. Windows is a good OS, and for gaming Mac cant even remotely compete. ATM the best mac gaming computer is years behind, and PC's are already winning by currently controlling 90% of the marketshare. Basically if you want a mac you most likely think its cool, and then say you bought it cause its more secure when in reality there is nothing that makes a mac more secure compared to a Windows based PC.
I like the freedom of the PC without MS's restrictions. Linux based PC's are my cup of tea.mattbbpli heard about so many people are now preferring Linux, what's so special about it? (It has less gaming support than the Mac does and the only MMO you could play on it would be Runescape.) And is it related to Unix in any way? :?

if you have a shred of knowledge about computers linux is nice because it allows you to do alot more then a windows or mac based PC, and you can set it up to your own tastes. Its also hell of alot less of a recource hog, but yeah its not supported by most mainstream corporations so its limited in its use by the mainstream consumer.
For the 1,000,000,000 time Microsoft, Apple, and uninformed customers...computers running Linux, OSX, or Windows are PCs. PCs. Stands for Personal Computer and it doesn't matter if you're running Linux, OSX, or Windows, its a Personal Computer. I prefer the Windows Xp (soon to be Windows 7) and Ubunut dual boot. I can have the amazingness of Windows and Linux. :) I'm really not a fan of Macs at all.
Yeah XP is good but Vista , no... Ough Vista is good in one thing, exellent in one thing and that is gaming, so that is most important. I'm for PC too but if Windows could be more safer, and more stabel....GamerrXI tried a Mac before and didn't really like it. Also, no support for Game Maker, which allows you to make any kind of game and is much easier to learn and use than other game making tools, is not cool.
mac beats pc out in everything but games.rorskarchAgree, just bought a mac after having an XP based Inspiron, and a Vista based Inspiron, and now a new MacBook Pro. The MacBook is my favorite by faaaar

Oh hell yeah, this thing is tite. as far as apple keeps this up, I will definitely stay with their macs. Its built so sturdy, and it just runs so smoothly. ok, sorry about that lol. what about u?[QUOTE="0rbs"][QUOTE="tmacscores91"] too bad u get the pointtmacscores91

I was the same way, the whole touchpad seemed awkward. now that i have used the multitouch, i wont go back, its so much easier to scroll, and zoom in on touch. and go forward/back on the internet all with the multitouch touchpadmac beats pc out in everything but games.rorskarch
lolno
Last I checked, OS X was far, far behind PC (Windows/Linux) on the application/productivity front. Pretty much the only thing OS X has over Windows is Final Cut Pro and a pretty interface.
Macs are awesome if you really love video editing and not playing games.Crosshair_7
macs are also good if you want to buy a product that is ridiculously overpriced

i had a teacher who told me it was so expensive because you were paying for vastly superior software, and then he said something like "once you go mac, you never go back"
i  'd at him

I'm not saying all Mac users are like that, but I do know some that think that way. It's the saddest thing ever to see someone dismiss something like an MP3 player, or computer for an Apple equivalent that is twice as much, and you know all they're doing it for is aesthetics, and nothing more. Makes me sick.
How Apple got people to think that way is beyond me.
This says everything....no

you just put in a piece of software and POOF!! it shuts down
I think that the OSX is a better operating system is better on a work-usage basis. Gaming is a whole different matter, because so few games get ported to Macs, in addition to the nonexistant lineup of Macs with gaming quality hardware. But since I don't game on any computer, except the rare Starcraft or Warcraft games, it's rarely an issue for me. OSX is a vastly superior operating system for me.

I remember dying of laughter at some of this the first time I saw it, like the boat anchor :lol:Windows-Based PC. I still don't get why Apple fanboys say that productivity software in a Mac is better when Windows has the same programs that can run even better given the appropriate hardware.
Then there's the "sleek" interface every Mac fanboy masturbates to everytime they boot up their PC then Vista came in... You know the rest... And despite having a few issues with Vista at first, it's still the best OS I've ever used. People argue that Vista consumes too many resources but for the people that have them(and then some) Vista provides a fast and perfectly stable system. You know there's something wrong when people try to install a 2-3 year old OS on 10 year old hardware and expecting it to work well, I'd like to see a Mac user installing OSX on a 5-10 year old Mac and see if it runs well, if at all, oh wait they can't anyways...
Apple should've stuck with iPods only, which is the only thing they do well. IMO, they're still a rip off when you consider the hardware you're getting for your money but accessibility is something they excel at and, when listening to music or watching a video/movie on the go, accessibility is the first thing that comes to mind when buying a portable media player. If Apple reduces the price of iPods and offer bit more freedom when choosing the type of iPod that you want(big/touch screen to small regular screen and the type of storage, flash to hard drives) they would control the whole market, even more than they do now.
[QUOTE="rorskarch"]mac beats pc out in everything but games.agentfred...And price point, and third party support, and well, software in general. Yes, but the software that comes with it beats the hell out of the software that comes preinstalled with most other PC vendors. Windows based PCs have better third party support and more software, but that is because the have 80%+ of the PC marketshare, but that is slowly changing. I've used windows all of my life. But I believe that Mac OSX and some Linux Distros are better.

Maybe when a Mac will be less expensive or legal to instal Mac Os on a PC.
Macs vs PC? Since Apple switched to Intel you can install Windows on Mac and OSX on PC, so their hardware is bassicaly the same thing. So it;s mostly aestehtics/energonomics choice here. I prefer PCs because they offer bigger choice and more powerful components for deskops and for laptops I consider Thinkpads to be much better for my needs than Macbooks.
So the real comparision is between OSX and Windows. I prefer Windows here, it is less polished and slower OS and I do need to put some work into it to make it secure, unlike with OSX, at the same time however to me it's worth the additional effort because of much better software and hardware selection. Bassicaly everything I do everyday with my computer I can do better or in worst case every bit as good on Windows as on OSX and there's plenty of what I need that I can't get on OSX. So for me it's PC and Windows over Mac and OSX, not just because of gaming, but also because of other tasks I use computer for.
