I think the PC,is so much better then the MAC.:)

[QUOTE="Little_Big_Dude"]Define Which parts? i just put in new RAM, hard-drive, and a new superdrive in my old macbook. umm stuff that actually matters to gaming like a video card, CPU, or mobo?well...you can't on PC notebooks either (aside from some rare exception) and I think you can upgrade those (at least gpu and cpu) on Mac Pro. The parts do cost more though and there are always somewhat behind newest PC parts, especially gpus[QUOTE="kidonre"]not really, the Mac hardware is overpriced, plus you can not upgrade parts on a mackidonre
Macs vs PC? Since Apple switched to Intel you can install Windows on Mac and OSX on PC, so their hardware is bassicaly the same thing. So it;s mostly aestehtics/energonomics choice here. I prefer PCs because they offer bigger choice and more powerful components for deskops and for laptops I consider Thinkpads to be much better for my needs than Macbooks.
So the real comparision is between OSX and Windows. I prefer Windows here, it is less polished and slower OS and I do need to put some work into it to make it secure, unlike with OSX, at the same time however to me it's worth the additional effort because of much better software and hardware selection. Bassicaly everything I do everyday with my computer I can do better or in worst case every bit as good on Windows as on OSX and there's plenty of what I need that I can't get on OSX. So for me it's PC and Windows over Mac and OSX, not just because of gaming, but also because of other tasks I use computer for.

You can't legaly instal Mac OS on any PC, it need to be a Mac.
everybody has done something illegal with their computers, so I don't see how it would stop people this time, plus really. nobody is going to prosecute you for making Hackintosh in US :D And in Europe it's not illegal, no matter what Apple puts in their EULAsYou can't legaly instal Mac OS on any PC, it need to be a Mac.

Anything related to design? MacDonPerian
Anything? That's a very big oversimplification. There's plenty of design areas where PCs are better choice than Macs like architecture, industrial designs or 3D

I wasn't being objective.you're a naughty boy :)Well, Linux let's you do just about anything Windows can do (except play certain games). Plus, it's open source so you can find just about any type of distribution to suit your needs.Join technet... unlimited copies of every M$ OS, and all their applications. 350$ a year, includes server OS. I'm rockin 2k8 r2 with awesome hyper visors. What finally pushed me over the edge and away from Windows was when MS acted like I stole their software every time I reinstalled on the same computer (I exceeded the number of install times, which is kind of a stupid restriction anyway for an 8 year old OS). The last time I just hung up on the guy and installed a distro of Linux. Couldn't be happier.mattbbpl
BTW Macs are so useless, they are wannabe unix systems, what's so special about them???? Let's see here
Windows = Games, most supported software, Active directory servers n stuff, hyper visors.
Linux/Unix/Freebsd = Apache servers, ssh servers, maybe sftp servers(but this is anoying cause they can cd out), and random other stuff. Open source kernel, I have linux on my iphone which has an ARM based cpu...
Mac= Music????? Why would I want to use this??!?
Whats a mac?
azell07
This. It probably has even better gaming capabilites. Hit someone in the face with it and you'll have more fun. Guaranteed.
Macs are overpriced, you're simply paying for brand image, which mac has tageted towards the hip-cool demographic college-high school students.

There are thousands of sites and instruction in computer magazines that gives easy step by step to install OSX on your PC. In fact, I have OSX leopard on my Lenovo S10 netbook which only cost me 350 dollars.http://s10lenovo.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1187 this is one of million of sites that give you step by step on installing OSX on your PC.
I recently got a Mac, but im not convinced at all. Its surrounded by a lot of pretentious nonsense.
The only reasons to own a Mac is for Logic Studio (which I got it for) and Final Cut Pro. I know there are alternatives to Logic for example, for the PC, but it will cut out the complexities of making music with a Windows PC (and there are, trust me its not simple). It's basically because apple built the hardware, software and OS, so everything works well without the need for endless software tinkering or deciding on the right hardware, so there is very very little optimization you need to do.
And I know the mac fanboys will say other wise, but Apple are far worse than MS, they charge you for every piece of crap you could think of and corner you into protection plans and all sorts of nonsense, I hate them.
It really comes down to different things for different jobs, but theres not many reasons to own a mac that I can think of.

Yes, and did you read Macs license agreement ?
i heard about so many people are now preferring Linux, what's so special about it? (It has less gaming support than the Mac does and the only MMO you could play on it would be Runescape.) And is it related to Unix in any way? :?[QUOTE="Nerkcon"][QUOTE="mattbbpl"]I like the freedom of the PC without MS's restrictions. Linux based PC's are my cup of tea.Fizzman
if you have a shred of knowledge about computers linux is nice because it allows you to do alot more then a windows or mac based PC, and you can set it up to your own tastes. Its also hell of alot less of a recource hog, but yeah its not supported by most mainstream corporations so its limited in its use by the mainstream consumer.
So in other words, it's useless for gaming. lol This is a gamers forum, so obviously Windows is going to win here. I hate it at times, but I like it most of the time.[QUOTE="Fizzman"][QUOTE="Nerkcon"] i heard about so many people are now preferring Linux, what's so special about it? Motherboard and ram conflict I believe it was. I've had a couple random spots where I updated my graphics drivers, and when it rebooted, some critical file was deleted and I could find no way to restore it, so windows couldn't start. However, that was really the last problem I had with the software, and that was a couple years ago.if you have a shred of knowledge about computers linux is nice because it allows you to do alot more then a windows or mac based PC, and you can set it up to your own tastes. This is a gaming website but this topic is not pertaining to games IMO. Comparing MAC OS's and MS Windows OS'S I would go with windows. For the things I do I like Windows better than any MAC OS. I have yet to get into Linux but it is inevitable. The only thing I hate about MS is everything :) but yet its like a drug you cant leave it alone.
the only things i like about macs are the appearence. they make everything look so slick. i mean this for both software and hardware. I even made my windows PC look like a OS X
other than that they are trash. **** apple. and their ****ing apple tax. over-priced, elitist POS is what they are.
for the same price of what you pay for an apple computer you could get a waaaay technologically superior PC.
I guess if you have money to burn its okay to go for a mac. but why you would be a mac only person is beyond me, actually that's only if you are a gamer and you are on this board. non gaming mac people are probably just brainwashed, elitist, haters. thinkin microsoft and bill gates are the devil.
i'm passionate about this because my roommate, who is a friend from high school, is like this. poor guy. makes me sad to look him in the eye. brings a tear to my eye. :(
Yes, and did you read Macs license agreement ?Bebi_vegetaOh heck no. If you specifically avoid reading the EULA when installing something, then it applies to you even less than it would have if you ever go to court about it. EULA's are pretty much useless, and even more so if you just say 'what? I never read that.'

Very fast way to go to jail ;)
I'm afraid you haven't been watching enough marketing propaganda ....Here I was under the impression that Macs were indeed personal computers...

On an EULA? LOL. I can tell you've never worked in the field. Why is Windows a good OS?i dont even know where to begin so ill try at the beginning. Windows is a good OS, and for gaming Mac cant even remotely compete. ATM the best mac gaming computer is years behind, and PC's are already winning by currently controlling 90% of the marketshare. Basically if you want a mac you most likely think its cool, and then say you bought it cause its more secure when in reality there is nothing that makes a mac more secure compared to a Windows based PC.

Good for notebooks IMO or doing special things with old systems but they don't seem that useful otherwise, i'm a PC fan BTWor you are interested in the production software (final cut, motion, soundtrack pro, dvd studio), which is a more efficient and actually cheaper option than current PC offerings.i dont even know where to begin so ill try at the beginning. this is true. i think its a matter of semantics, but the argument is more OS related.Agree, just bought a mac after having an XP based Inspiron, and a Vista based Inspiron, and now a new MacBook Pro. Technically yes, but in a computer science world, the term PC is generally reserved for Linux and Windows PCs, while Mac refers to Apple products. Please Log In to post.
