Anyone else think "Massive Action Game" was a dumb funny game title?

Kinda feel bad for these devs. There will probably be like 3 or 4 games running at a time (that is if their full) :(
2032 people playing right[QUOTE="Rockman999"][QUOTE="Stats_"]SOCOM can sometimes takes AGES to find a game, not sure if thats bad coding or small amount of online players, but either way, no more then a 1000 people play it a day.Stats_
I find that very hard to believe, but im reluctant to check myself so i'll take your word for it.
Either way. Hardly impressive. Especially for a game with such a dedicated fanbase. MAG is a new ipm and is a very average game. You honestly think you will still be finding 256 player matches a few months after release?
Weren't people saying something similar to that about KZ2? About how there wasn't going to be anyone playing it a few months after release?

The connection issues with the beta are terrible. I played it alittle and its alot of fun but its nowhere near the best console FPS this year. Bioshock 2 and Halo Reach and Battlefield Bad company 2 will be much better

I don't know about others but some people like me don't want to take like 10 minutes online looking for a match. With Halo, I hop on, get into a match within 45 seconds and I am off having fun, but if a game doesn't have a big pop. online, it's gonna take a while and then you kinda don't even want to play teh game anymore

Well... at least I would like to think so. If not in popularity, than at least in player scale! when your smallest match is 32 vs 32, you know you got a big game on your hands.
I was in the beta since August, and it really is a GREAT game. ESPECIALLY if you get a group of friends/people you play well with. Coordinating attacks it's really something to behold.
If you haven't yet, I suggest you download the open beta right now! then update it (the update can take a while) and try it out tomorrow! Servers come up tomorrow (the 4th) at 5am PST (8am EST) and will be on 24/7 untill midnight on the 10th! don't miss your chance to miss this years biggest FPS!
Wow.. that reads like a commercial, LOL. but really, I mean, What other console FPS has more than 100 players on one map without divulging into chaos?
Yankees718
More players =/= good game
Honestly....and from what i see among the SW posters....its getting negative reception here..
mag cant flop unless it gets -2 but i dont think that will happen mag will be a part of a miracle if it gets 8+ rating
Yeah after the beta I'm gonna have to file this game under "pass"Skittles_McGeeYeah, it's too generic.

Halo 3:ODST has somewhere around an 83% on Gametrailers and Metacritic.
Back on topic: I'm sure M.A.G will have a large community if it turns out to be at least 'good'. I think it'll be like Warhawk, which I've heard has tons(or atleast more than enough) of players online every day. I don't see it doing badly unless it gets reviews below an 8, in which case it'll be like Socom, but I don't expect that to happen. It's an FPS, it has a 256 player limit in a single game, it has a $60 price tag and it multiplayer only, so i'm sure if it has good or even decent sales, it won't just die out after a few months.

I'm sorry but there are so many FPS games tha twill obliterate it.
Halo Reach
COD 7 (Even Treyarch can make better games than MAG)
Crysis 2
Serious Sam 3
BF Bad Company 2
Postal 3
I'm sure even if these games are not amazing they will all be better than the garbage that is MAG.
[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"][QUOTE="Rockman999"]Regardless of hype you and me both know which will be the better FPS of 2010 ;) Rockman999yeah halo reach will be the best fps of 2010. I didn't know you made jokes, funny... To your previous reply, dude 2000+ people during off peak hours on a week day, what do you expect? 2000 on peak times you mean, its less then that for socom on off peak hours. Socom has a very low user base right now, just as all the past socom games had, not a single one ever had the playerbase like halo, or cod...ect
MAG is not noob friendly, so no...
In COD or MW series, you can improve your skill after several hours.
however, in MAG, you must find a good clan in order to get better...if i want to do socializing, i would play mmorpg, but instinct FPS games.
oajlu
This is not neccesarily directed at your post exclusively, but I hate how people on this board play the "not noob friendly"=better card.
Being "not noob friendly" doesn't make a game good by any means. It's other aspects that count, aspects that are probably much more polished in MW.
Oh man, Postal 3. Haven't heard of that since E3. From what I've seen it actually looks worse than Postal 2. As in still crap, but less fun-looking. Was never a particularly deep game series, but that badger they kept showing off as if it was worth showing just seemed incredibly shallow and unfunny. Wouldn't be surprised if that game was silently canned.I'm sorry but there are so many FPS games tha twill obliterate it.

I think that Halo Reach and BioShock 2 are gonna make a much bigger impact, both by sales and critical scores :)
Reach! haha Bad Company 2!!! Also, isn't there a new Battlefield coming out this year?you must mean biggest in scale, because Reach comes out this year.
Ultra_Combo
Played the beta, massively bummed out by how utterly derivative it is. By Summer, we won't even remember this game exists.
I might give it a go if it gets stellar reviews but I'm not stoked for it at all. I prefer 50 people playing at once max, otherwise bullets just seem to come out of no where and skill doesn't count for much. More people does not equal more fun, there's a definite tipping point.
My favourite large maps were on BF2 and I played them with 40 people. So the pc version of Bad Company 2 will be the biggest shooter of the year for me. Is Halo Reach out this year? Nevermind... after the car wreck of a game that was Halo:ODST, Reach won't even get a look in. Fool me once, shame on you. but fool me twice...

Bad Company will maybe sell 3 - 4 million max.
Reach will sell that in days.
Sorry, i mistook biggest with best.I've played the beta and by modern shooter standards is well below average. Stiff shooting controls, horrible graphics, terrible audio, and the overall enviroment feels like something out of a 90s shooter. It feels sluggish and way out of date.
6.0 here, max.
256 players sounds good on paper, but it isn't necessary. BF BC2 does 24 players and is a 100x better experience than MAG. It feels fluid and modern, it looks pretty, has the best sound in any video game to date (just wait until you play it), has destructible environments that really impact gameplay, everything about it is fresh even in such a stale genre.

Sorry, i mistook biggest with best.Best is subjective. Reach will most likely outscore BC here and on other important sites. ;)
Yeah after the beta I'm gonna have to file this game under "pass"Skittles_McGeeagreed.....played it quite a bit with one of the closed betas and I can't find ONE redeeming value in this game. All this game has is numbers and it's a shame that isn't a strong enough of a selling point.
Has a complete and utter different goal and design though. BF BC2 isn't objective style gameplay but capture the flag team deathmatch, etc. It is completely derivative. This game is more like ww2 almost copy and paste in some aspects. Reason why this gives me the lols reading some of the comments.I've played the beta and by modern shooter standards is well below average. If you are under the impression that a lot of players suddenly make the game "good" then you are sadly mistakened.
With so many players, mics are really going going to be an option in squads, which you WOULD have to be with RL friends or people you know.
Going into it solo will just divulge into chaos, so many kids with their mics will just be playing music, yelling, etc. With so many players, the chance for the former is great.
I am just reading system wars responses because I doubt some people played the beta. The only mode is sabotage which is 64 players. It takes 4-6 hours of playing time to get to a 256 player match, and people saying this is the worst game ever and is going to flop and score worse than 6.0 honestly played this game for more than 4 hours? I really get disgusted with ps3 exclusives with this bs hate. The stuff like gun shooting is terrible, etc. But if you honestly haven't even touched the game, don't say stuff you don't know. Now, I am not going to go all this game is going to be the greatest thing ever because I don't like the game at all for different reasons. But if you played the game, didn't like it. Don't say 256 game mode is a gimmick when you haven't played it, just say you don't like the sabatage mode and the game isn't for me.You can't coordinate attacks with silence or are you going to text your friends this as you play.
I've read impressions on many boards, it's going to flop.
