Major Xbox 360 E3 disappointments

Let's be real for a moment. While it managed to get FF13, Xbox 360 has a lot of No's that will damage its long-term competitiveness.

1) No Blu-ray. In no way, shape or form does getting FF13 make up for lacking Blu-ray support. Blu-ray prices for players and movies are coming down. You can bet HD TVs and Blu-ray will become more and more mainstream, and Xbox 360 can't hold a candle in this trend.

2) No official RROD fix. Xbo 360 is still the most unreliable console ever made. Check the Xbox 360 forum here at Gamespot. There is a sticky thread just for disappointed 360 owners who experienced RROD and other issues. This thread will be stickied longer than any news coming out of E3, including FF13 news.

3) No Final Fantasy 13 Versus. Final Fantasy's home is still on the Playstation family. Tradition matters. Final Fantasy Versus matters. If you like FF13, you have the option to experience more goodness with Versus. It's a full game, too., not an add-on. Only on the PS3.

4) No game whatsoever can claim any of the following: Best technologies (MGS4). Best graphics (Killzone 2, MGS4, Uncharted, GT5p). Best sound (MGS4). Largest games (MGS4, Resistance 2, Killzone 2). Largest multi-players (Resistance2 and M.A.G.). Best animation (Uncharted, Killzone 2). Best photorealism (GT5p). Best cut-scenes (MGS4). In other words, the best aspects of gaming are only found on the PS3.

5) No free LIVE. PSN is getting better and better all the time. Real close to LIVE now with 2.41 update. Trophies looks to be better than Achievements with its visual and RPG nature. HOME is coming soon. It's looking better and better. Microsoft can fight, cry, lie, or beg all it wants, but Xbox 360 is still the worst console for casuals. Paying monthly fees to play online games??? This is not in the DNA of a casual gamer. Period.

6) No indications that it will win Sony in the world-wide install base. This Don Mattrick guy is supposed to replace Peter More. It's a bad start for his reputation when he claims the 360 will beat Sony world wide. Did anyone notice that Microsoft kept the same price for the 360 but increase the drive space by 40 gigs? Sony just did the same.Thus the trend of the PS3 beating the 360 in sales should continue each month. Especially since Sony seems to have better exclusives coming in 2008 and 2009.

7) No freedom to: install a hard disk drive from any supplier at a lower price, install Linux, and to watch downloaded movies ouside of your home, away from your console.

8 ) No M.A.G. or exclusive MMOs. Unfortunately for the 360, the PS3 has MAG and DC Universe Online (not to mention the games by NcSoft). Sony will claim the multiplayer crown this generation.

1) Blu-Ray ? Who the hell cares, when we actually see PS3 games being better ( Doubtful ) then it can be helf off until next egeneration, dont buy into that crap, Blu- Ray was not the same jump CD to DVD was.

2) Oh well, doesnt deter from its library/online/feature set. I can live without it for a week or 2.

3) Final Fantasy 13 is the main game, keeping a spin off is nothing but damage control.

4) Biased Biased Biased, all costly games will have better graphics than most, doesnt make them better, or the hardware better.

5) LIVE is still much better than PSN, though I dont like paying for it either.

6) Wins in games library, which is why PC is the king, Install abse and software Library, 360 has one of those at least, its also more unified, making the peopel you actually meet matter more, and osftware sales are ebtter on it, making isntall abse redundant.

7) For Media junkies i guess thats a win, but for games? no.

9) M.A.G is like Huxley, a false killer app.... numbers dont make the game, and MMO Shooters are very hard to do right.

Microsoft did what they did last year, they showed what games we'll be playing *this* year with the acception of resi evil and FF. Everything else you put up there is opinion.

And for the record, seeing as how I own all the systems, I am able to want those features, and have them. Along with the benefits that the 360 has over the PS3 as well.

Maybe you missed the part where X360 has all the excusives and the ones they don't are timed (from Square). The only day/date multiplat PS3 gets now from Square is FF13.....which used to be exclusive to Sony so that is a loss as well.

Face it, versus is going to be multiplat. Just start getting used to the idea. Even if Square said it was still Sony exclusive, that means absoultely NOTHING.

MS is not going to go with Blu-ray, if they do they are giving money directly to Sony. Especially when they are in competition with them why would they do that?

I think the last thing that MS wants to talk about at an E3 conference is that there known hardware problems are getting fixed, it would be kind of embarrassing to sit there and tout why your system is better for an hour and then say "Oh by the way we fixed the hardware issues that have cost us billions". :roll:

The bottom line is with this announcement FF is no longer exclusive to the Sony franchise anymore. This means probably any future games involving FF will be on both consoles. This is a huge blow.

No Hypocrisy, all films are life like and thier CGI is miles ahead of games, its non interactive and always believable, slightly better sound and resolution? Zzzzz nowhere near the jump of VHS to DVD... nowhere near. And well, your arguement is just invalid, BLU RAY and HDTVs arnt even the standard and wont be for some years, the BLU RAY in the PS3 is slow and doesnt benefit much in GAMES... which is the most important factor.

But losing FF13 was the biggest blow, take me for example? I now have near to no reason to get a PS3, the only JRPG I wanted on it that wasnt on the 360 is now on 360.... other than MGS4.... nothing much else that is exclusive that is worth it.

You denied LIVE to be alot better is Hypocrisy, just because developers had alot more money to spend on animations in MGS4 doesnt mean the system is capable of more, not by a long shot.And lossless Audio is nothing to brag about.

Sorry, that is minor, Dedicated servers is one thing... probably the best thing, but Xbox LIVE is still much better, PS3 Dedicated doesnt give you the same freedom the PC Dedicated does, thus its benefits are limited at best.

None of those things mean anything about number of players, your fanboy arrogance is showing. Huxley is primary PC, its not because of hardware limits, its because 260 players is a pipe dream, especially for a failing console? this game is what? 2-3 years off? right at the end of the cycle when nobody will care.

This crap can be hyped all it wants, in the end, games like Battlefield 3 and Gears of War 2 will just roll right over it.

Marvel Online got canceled (sadly, I was looking very forward to this as I am a huge Marvel fan). APB looks sick, as does Huxley. Also 360 is getting Age of Conan (as far as I know still) as well, so I wouldn't say they have no MMOs on the 360. Plus we also have PSU and FFXI (both of which are also on PC and PS2).

PSN, has just recently gotten a couple features that XBL has had forever, and the new live takes it to the next level. Sony took two steps towards XBL, and XBL takes 10 steps forward this fall.

Then I guess MGS disappears 1-1-09 right? 360 will not experience MGS4 because Konami kept it exclusive(and even stated it could run on the 360 btw), yet you make the leap to it being because the hardware can't handle it?
