I left halo and went to cod4, ob, and back to wow. But ROCKET RACE BROUGHT ME BACK. It is the best game mode ever made.
wow TC....im surprised u allowed this twisted place to affect ure judgement on what games to play. glad to see uve come around though and nice to see that ure loving halo 3.
personally its not my cuppa, i wont go into why. but if ure enjoying it then to hell with the world if they dont like it.
Halo 3 Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios | Platform: Xbox 360 | Genre: Action score:
9.5
I think 8 to 8.9 is great and this score means superb or something even better then great. :P
Halo 3 is completely and totally forgettable.
It's dull, uninspired,and boring.
It's story is weak, it's level design sucks, it's AI is ****ing retarded, and it's gunplay is staid and un-intense.
It also has the weakest final chapter of any major big-budget FPS I have played in a long time.
jethrovegas
Seriously though; after going off on a rant like that, i find that members of the "its cool to not like halo" bandwagon always talk themselves into a corner.
If halo is dull, uninspired and boring with a bad story and poor level design; what the hell is a good FPS? Name me an amazing FPS. Only you cant. Because you've just written off a AAA franchise as if it's terrible, so how can anything out there actually be GOOD?

Call of Duty 4 is an example of an FPS that is superior to Halo 3 in every single way. I would go so far as to call it amazing.

It's story is weak, it's level design sucks, it's AI is ****ing retarded, and it's basic gunplay is staid and lacks intensity.

Dull? Hardly, the campaign was always being broken up by something interesting. Uninspired? Why? Because it's a sequel?
Weak story? There are tow kinda of people. The ones who LOVE Halo's story, and the people who don't understand it. Level design. Halo 3. Beautiful. If you don't think so, you obviously didn't play The Covenant. Single most beautiful level in any game I've ever played. AI in Halo bad? No sir. It's nothing special, not like FEAR, but seriously. If you think the AI is bad, you've never played a game where the AI wasn't bad. Compared to 90% of the competition, Halo's AI works. They never do anything endangering to themselves, they react realistically to what you're doing to them, they dive out of the way of grenades instead of standing around, they work. And Halo's gunplay is only basic if you just point and shoot. If you try hard enough, Halo is never the same thing twice.
Weakest final chapter?
I'm not even going to bother.
[QUOTE="gameofthering"]Lol i still havn't finished the first level of it... then again i feel that the game is boring.Ninja-Vox

That makes zero sense. You cannot call Halo 3 dull, uninspired and boring with a bad story and then say COD4 is amazing. You can certainly prefer one to the other, but you cannot claim one is terrible and the other amazing. Because quality-wise they're exactly the same game. It's simply a manner of preference.
Unless you're one of these people who's incapable of expressing preference without claiming the other one absolutely blows.

Yeah seriously. CoD4 barely has a story compared to something like Halo. And the level design in CoD is far from mind blowing. Halo is artisically and technically beautiful. CoD has buildings and some cool forest areas. Chernobyl is amazing. That's about it.
You know with that big shiney 9.5 sitting here at gamespot it's kind of hard to call Halo 3 total crap.
Unless every gaming journalist is a) being paid off or b) are out of their minds. And since neither can be true can we not have another 8 page Halo 3 argument?

No.
They are not the same game quality wise; they are not even close.
Call of Duty 4 is packed full of intense, tightly honed, razor sharp FPS gameplay, and it absolutely blows Halo 3 out of the water.
The level design in Call of Duty 4 is absolutely incredible. It makes Halo 3 look quite sad by comparision.
Is Call of Duty 4's story a wok of art? No. Hell no. I would say that it's slightly less cringe inducing than the banally mindless bull**** spewed in the Halo series, but no, it is certainly nothing to write home about.
Having said that, I stand by my original statement: Call of Duty 4 is absolutely superior to Halo 3 in everything it does, and is one of the best action games I have played in a long time.
Level design, graphics, variety, intensity, cohesiveness, basic gameplay, Call of Duty 4 beats Halo in all those areas.
Halo 3 simply doesn't compare to what is offered in Call of Duty 4.

I don't know. It's just the feel of the game. The weapons seem kinda weak. And online its like whoever sees who and shoots is the winner. Plus the amount of ammo that everybody can withstand and then its a punch or something to kill the enemy.
EDIT: and also the fact that when i try to shoot someone the damn auto aim moves my aim itself.

More people have an Xbox 360 than a PS3 so yea, it does make sense. Although, No PS3 game has had as much coverage as Halo 3 and Im not even sure if the PS3 has. It sold more copies because it had such a huge advertising campaign so it was building up to be the Jesus Christ of video games, and in actuality it was just way over-rated and poor. Ok game at best. Great? no way[QUOTE="Ninja-Vox"]And bam. There's the pitfall i was talking about.

If you're honestly going to say COD4 is amazing, only to say halo 3 is awful, i can only assume you've played neither. I reliase its your opinion, but its an opinion which makes no sense at all.
Like i said, prefering one is fine. But you cannot say one is amazing and the other is awful. Heck, COD4's matchmaking system is lifted wholesale from halo 3 anyway.
Well good for you, it was the opposite in my case though.
I bought the hype from users here, I bought a 360 for HAlo 3 ( 2 weeks before release ) and some fer other games like Mass Effect. )
Everything except Mass Effect has made me realize it was a big waste of money and I now disregard anything most promoting lemmings say by default.

You'll note, "awful" was not one of the adjectives with which I described Halo. You'll also note, I never referred to it as a bad game in general terms.
I attacked very specific points, primarily with regard to the single player campaign which remains my primary interest when purchasing a first person shooter.
As a whole, acounting for the generally high quality multiplayer experience and online options, I would say that Halo 3 makes for a pretty decent game... though it is by no means anything more than just that: decent.
I would not recommend it to someone who is mostly interested in a single player experience, though I would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality online FPS action.
Call of Duty 4 is a far better overall package, especially in the single player portion of the game which simply blows Halo's single player away.

If you want to go off on a rant dismissing every aspect of a game only to turn around and say you weren't saying its bad, i'd recommend being far more careful in your choice of words in future.
You think COD4 is a better package? Good for you. I know people who do too. But i know many people who prefer halo 3. The difference is they have the logic to at least accept that they are both amazing games, depite prefering one to the other.
And i'll say it again; you cannot say COD4 is amazing and then dismiss halo 3 as garbage. It's like saying i love ferraris, but porsches are the worst cars ever made. It just doesnt make sense.

Halo 3's single player is quite poor when compared to Call of Duty 4's. There is no way around that.
Sure Halo 3's single player is awesome when compared to say, Hour of Victory, but what's the point in comparing something to the absolute worst thing in the same category?
Like I said, as a whole, Halo 3 is decent. I was only criticising the single player campaign which I find to be rather lame.
