Man, Halo 3 is great!

The fact that you stopped playing a game you that like because people were saying negative things about it on a website in which nobody's opinion matters tells me something about your personality and/or way of thinking.

I don't really see what everyone is saying about COD4. I rented it, and I am extremly disapointed. It plays like an arcade shooter, I feel like I'm on a rail, it isn't really that original(compared to the other games in the series, it is), the level design was bland and repetative, full of invisible walls. The only thigs I will give it are great graphics and AI.

And then theres Halo 3. You fight the covenent(who have "bad" ai because they fight like animals with no regard for their own sagtey, why doesn't anyone get that?). In the first level, you crash down, grab a MA5B assult rifle, and fight your way through to a human camp, which is then destroyed. Then follows one of the best stories I have ever encountered in a game.There is betrayal, death, love, and every twist and turn hope for in a narrative. There is no repetative combat. There is vehicle combat on the ground, and the air. There is a completly new enemy type for the last 2 levels, cool weapons(spartan laser ftw!) and sweet boss battles with the oracle and scarab tanks. And don't even get me started on the multiplayer and its unlimited options. so yeah, I like halo 3 more.

Halo 3 is completely and totally forgettable.

It's dull, uninspired,and boring.

It's story is weak, it's level design sucks, it's AI is ****ing retarded, and it's basic gunplay is staid and lacks intensity.

It also has the weakest final chapter of any major big-budget FPS I have played in a long time.

I would give Halo 3 an 8.5 because of the short (and boring) single player and the super-long loading times. Also because other than Forge and the Replay thing, it's all been done before in Halo 2.

My Ratings:
Halo 1: 9.5 - Great story and cutscenes, fun MP, and revolutionary at that time.
Halo 2: 9.0 - Decent story, really fun MP, and pushed the graphics on XBOX a lot.
Halo 3: 8.5 - It's all been done before. The graphics are pretty mediocre too according to the hype about the graphics from Microsoft.

I bought Halo 3 when it was released and played it for a while and thought meh, its an ok game and then I got COD 4. I played COD 4 for about a month and was amazed...until it started to get repetitive. After being bored for 2 weeks I started to play Halo 3 again and I loved it. It is even better than before for some reason and I don't know why but its crazy fun.

It's a truly great game. My second favourite shooter after Crysis.

"trash" can be a high rated game you know, look at the scores on games, its rare to see anything get lower than 7, its easy for something you believe to be flawed called trash when there are things (in the opinion) that are just miles better.

Yeah, Halo3 is my favorite next-gen FPS. Great campaign w/4plyr co-op, addicting online with a party system, awesome level editor, and a theater feature.

Amazing game. Worth all the hype and sales.

I think a lot of people just can't stand the fact that it's an outstanding game and that it's part of an outstanding franchise.

Some people have "Halo fatigue".

But it doesn't change the fact that it's a AAA system selling game and that it's damn near perfect.

Awesome single player campaign. Awesome multiplayer modes. It's a win-win.

Just look at the NPD charts - it was the #1 selling game of 2007 across all platforms, and it didnt even come out until September.

Multiplayer is the best on 360 imo - best suited for the system.

The singleplayer is average, and incredibly flawed - compared to many shooters it doesent hold up at all.

Halo 3 in a nutshel imo.

I think a lot of people just can't stand the fact that it's an outstanding game and that it's part of an outstanding franchise.

halo is short, it's the MP that makes up for it.. and there is way better MP shooters out there..

Halo 3 is the most comprehensive and quite frankly best console FPS. It just feels perfect for the platform.

Now I could say TF2 is a better multiplayer game (which I think is), but it simply doesent 'feel' right on the 360 as Halo 3 does - and simply seems alot more suited to PC online play.

COD4s multiplayer is nice, but overrated. Without the weapons unlocks, and perk system its just normal COD multiplayer.

Multiplayer makes up for it sounds foolish, 80% of the game is multiplayer content. Its like saying Unreal Tournament sucks but the multiplayer makes up for it...

im about 30 mins away from unlocking the legendary achievement

all i have to say is... aside from some really crappy stages towards the end, and the rarity of a lot of weapons throughout the campaign, its an ok campaign

im just dissapointed that its not 4 player co op offline, and the whole cant have a co op campaign in the middle of a solo campaign is annoying too

i'm considering selling it after this... i dont have live though i played it online recently, it's pretty fun, my gf likes it too

dunno if i can play this game offline anymore though... i dont bring my 360 over to my friends enough, and 1 of them is a severe sniper camper

halo 3 is OK, but I got COD4, then i realised what a REAL shooter should be like. Halo 3's atmosphere is jsut not as good, and you never feel like you are 1 second from being blown up. I kill those guys with grenade launchers by hitting them to make the game more interesting, I even took out a guy with that hammer thing (though it took a few goes, and much jumping and hitting). Plus COD4's multiplayer is better.

one funny thing to do on halo 3 though is on one of the first missions, the one where you set the bomb. Kill loads of your own team (hitting them or grenading them is funny) and they start shooting you. Plus at the end when the guys get in the dropship before they fly off throw one of those orange stick grenades in and if your lucky as it flyes off it will blow up and a man will fly out the end and land beside your feet. Most fun I had in the entire game! :twisted:

You regain health, there is different modes. be careful and stick to cover and its pretty hard to die, apart form on the harder modes and with rpg's.

They are not the same game quality wise; they are not even close.

Call of Duty 4 is packed full of intense, tightly honed, razor sharp FPS gameplay, and it absolutely blows Halo 3 out of the water.

The level design in Call of Duty 4 is absolutely incredible. It makes Halo 3 look quite sad by comparision.

Is Call of Duty 4's story a wok of art? No. Hell no. I would say that it's slightly less cringe inducing than the banally mindless bull**** spewed in the Halo series, but no, it is certainly nothing to write home about.

Having said that, I stand by my original statement: Call of Duty 4 is absolutely superior to Halo 3 in everything it does, and is one of the best action games I have played in a long time.

Level design, graphics, variety, intensity, cohesiveness, basic gameplay, Call of Duty 4 beats Halo in all those areas.

Halo 3 simply doesn't compare to what is offered in Call of Duty 4.

If you're honestly going to say COD4 is amazing, only to say halo 3 is awful, i can only assume you've played neither. I reliase its your opinion, but its an opinion which makes no sense at all.

Like i said, prefering one is fine. But you cannot say one is amazing and the other is awful. Heck, COD4's matchmaking system is lifted wholesale from halo 3 anyway.

and that matchmaking system or completely horrible. you can't search by map so you're constantly put into maps you don't like or just don't feel like playing. i don't appreciate landing on wetwork 3 times on 3 match attempts.

Seriously though; after going off on a rant like that, i find that members of the "its cool to not like halo" bandwagon always talk themselves into a corner.

If halo is dull, uninspired and boring with a bad story and poor level design; what the hell is a good FPS? Name me an amazing FPS. Only you cant. Because you've just written off a AAA franchise as if it's terrible, so how can anything out there actually be GOOD?

Call of Duty 4 is an example of an FPS that is superior to Halo 3 in every single way. I would go so far as to call it amazing.

I sorta stopped playing this game for a while after seeing the negative threads about it, but then I thought: "Why should I let a stupid fanboy affect my game playing selection?" And boy, am I glad I got back into the fight. Aside from the amasing multiplayer(some, if not the best I've ever played), an extremely fun and satisfying campaign, both gameplay and story wise. The graphics aren't neceessarily the best, but they are pretty damn good. I am so glad I got back into this game, and wholeheartetly reccomend it to anyone with or without a 360 to buy the system or the game.phantom-4112

I still play everyday...Halo 3 is one of the single most entertaining experiences available. I captured my signature screenshot from the theatre mode in rocket race. I probably have 30 films and 50 clips saved. Everything from Triple Laser kills to amazing plasma grenade sticks. One game I shot a banshee with a laser and got a double-kill/splatter/laser in one shot, because the wreckage landed on some poor chap who had just spawned. Nobody really talks about it, but the new map Foundry in forge mode is pretty much a map editor. Which from my personal experience is a first in console FPS. I've made some pretty sweet maps with my friends...I even figured out how to effectively make 3 and 4 storied bases.

Anybody that thinks Halo didn't deserve a 9.5 or is overrated is cheating themselves of the most fully-featured game.
