How would listing years old games reflect how a current 45M sales gap is treating us?

First correction, I didn't omit Sea of Thieves ^.

Second correction, I didn't included years old AAA PS4 games like Bloodborne or Uncharted 4 either because they don't apply to how the console sales apply NOW and going forward. (Halo/Sunset)

Third correction, I didn't include ANY indie level titles into my list because those games don't take a considerable amount of inve$tment from EITHER parent company to secure/create. so no PSN exclusive AlienNation or Salt n Sanctuary (cuphead/PUBG)

Forth Accepted: Forza a yearly release so it should be added I forgot about that.

HZD is a recently released game...a NEW IP to be exact, not years old having no relevance to the question. How exactly is 2017 released HZD AAA new IP an "old" game?

FYI: Super Lucky's is a 2017 xbox release and Scalebound was supposed to and on the list...so your argument objection FAILS. Bringing up games from 2 or 3 years ago wouldn't justify the question asked nor would budget indie titles.

Back in the 'glory days' of the Xbox 360 RRoD fiasco, Microsoft had its fans going out and buying 3,4,5+ duplicate consoles with nothing other than promises that each new model was the one that finally fixed the RRoD, the disc scratching/destroying drive, the jet engine loud cooling system etc.

Bullshit, the PS3 didn't beat the 360 in sales, and even more bullshit is in half the time. The PS3 came out a year after the 360, what the hell do you consider half the time?

The only reason the Xbox was in the lead last gen was because of the RROD.

@tigerbalm: That's the thing. The Xbox One would have been doing Wii U numbers if they didn't dump the price on it super early. The thing went from $500 to $349 in the course of a year because Sony was eating their lunch and they were scared of losing home turf.

They're only behind 3 million systems in the US because they made themselves the welfare console really quick. That's why the Xbox division doesn't report any financials for the console anymore because they burnt it up in price cuts and giveaways out the wazoo. I'm sure the losses are staggering.

The PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 worldwide every single year on the market.

What is mind boggling about the Xbox deadenders is their absolute bewilderment that the Xbox One has failed so badly.

When Microsoft was forced to kill off the first Xbox due to it bombing in sales:

* They rushed the defective Xbox 360 hardware out the door a year/year and a half early in a desperate attempt to pad out their installed base numbers

* Were 200 dollars cheaper than the PS3

* Had Xbox owners buying 3,4,5+ duplicate consoles due to the absurd Xbox 360 hardware problems leading to tens of millions of extra sales

* Managed to catch Sony sleeping with third party developer 'parity clause' development agreements where multiplatform games were downgranded to Xbox 360 level graphics and content on all platforms.

All that and Microsoft still got dumped into last place by Sony.

None of that is true this gen.

* The PS4 launched at the same time as the Xbox One

* The PS4 launched at 100 dollars less in price

* Microsoft doesn't have the luxury of RRoD massively inflating sales

* Sony finally woke up this gen and put an end to Microsoft's 'parity clauses' in third party developer contracts

You had to been living in Xbox fantasyland not to have known Microsoft was going to be utterly destroyed in worldwide sales this gen.

No one actually knows which console sold more, it's completely unknowable and basically a draw given the available data or lack thereof leading up to them being discontinued.

The sales outside of US stalled a long time ago. They've been effectively dead outside the US for years now so the idea that they have sold 15 million in the rest of the world is absurd.

The fact that MS stopped reporting numbers in 2015 speaks volumes.

It's on the cusp of 40 million units, the 360 in February of the same time from launch was at 39.7 million. You clearly don't pay attention to relevant sales, analyst information and data.

You guys seem to have it in your head that the Xbox One is doing poorly, it's not, the PlayStation 4 is simply doing exceedingly well so by comparison it makes it appear to be poorly performing. It's doing nearly as well as the 360/PS3 did last generation.
