Oh dear lord..another one. Nintendo, get it into your head hes not an athlete hes a fat plumber who by all rights should have had a heart attack by now. Stick to the platformers and forget these darn sports titles.Runningflame570

Did anyone here actually play Strikers on the GC? That game was awesome, way better than that crappy baseball game. And this one is looking way more promissing too.coreygamesPeople don't look past the franchise. People need to realise that as long as the games are good, it doesn't matter if the franchise is overused. A franchise is only truly overused once the quality of games starts to fall.

Good for Wii owners I guess. If I had one I would have to be in the same predicament as the GC. Same games over and over again. Of course there is new settings and they are not exactly the same but how many Mario parties and Mario sidespoofs can you people take? Don't bash I had a GC for a long time but got sick of the process.LiquidMetal14

However, since Nintendo is actually doing online this gen, and making these games online is I think a great thing. Since they should have been last gen. Frankly, Nintendo's games deserve to be online, and split screen multi, because they have some of the best and addictive multiplayer games.

I agree! Mario is all about realism! He should be attacking killer turtles, man eating mushrooms and a giant Dragon King who keeps on kidnapping the same princess no matter how many times he keeps messing up!

Theres only ONE franchise that has more than 1 sequel per generation as far as I can tell of the mario brand. Thats mario Party.....who really cares....The rest of the games are completely different and original and a lot of them are very good. Every FF is at least an RPG. The mario games are all completely different for the most part.

No biggie, I'm not upset. Everyone has their own opinion.[QUOTE="AdobeArtist"]I'd buy them ;) Mario Kart, San Andreas. Can you just picture that. Lighting people on fire, or attacking them with a huge hammer, then running off with their car.Next up:

No biggie, I'm not upset. Everyone has their own opinion.Personally I really dont have anything against the so called "rehashes" of anything or spin offs. But I just feel that all three consoles are guilty of the same thing so it shouldnt be that big of a deal that its a mario game.l
Meanwhile the platform title sales have gone down the crapper compared to earlier releases. Even the games released on GBA when it was still the primary Nintendo handheld and had no real competition didn't do nearly the numbers of Mario Land for instance.I'm sure nintendo is planning on doing that soon since these mario sports games always score AA+ and sell through the roof.

Hell yes, strikers was an awesome MP game and mario Baseball did indeed suck, man that game was dull/hard, all work and no reward... just like the real thing :P
The new strikers artwork looks cool...

Sales of mario platformers have gone down, but they don't come out often, still sell reasonably high, and are all still AAA titles.Â

Everyone has there own opinion on this; for example, I love pokemon, FF, Mario Party (not all though), mario sports titles and Mega Man (to a lesser Extent) and I hope they keep making games like that as long as they are fun.
Its games like GTA and its merciless copycats, NFS, Madden, Tony Hawks etc that I hate and wish that they would stop and re-imagine these dull/stale franchises, but hey people buy them and some actually enjoy them...
You know, I would argue that the 17 and 14 million sales they did on Mario Land 1 and 2 are better than periodic million-sellers in spinoff Mario titles. Of course, they do reuse lots of the assets of many of the games...so its hard to say what would really be more profitable.Sales of mario platformers have gone down, but they don't come out often, still sell reasonably high, and are all still AAA titles.

New Super Mario Bros. did insanely well worldwide.
Super Mario All-Stars did better numbers than it has and the SNES hardly had the ridiculous marketshare in Japan that the DS does. Get back to me when it breaks 14 Million.New Super Mario Bros. did insanely well worldwide.

I'm just saying that Mario platformers still sell well. As good as the 16-bit or 8-bit eras? Hell no. But still good.

New Super Mario Bros. Is the second highest selling game EVER is Japan. The only one to beat it was the original super mario bros......

Also New Super Mario Bros is on track to pass Super Mario All-Stars in the next 3-4 months or so in total sales.

In Japan. Might as well say Halo 2 is the best-selling game ever in the US (don't know if its true or not), its just about as relevant to worldwide sales.New Super Mario Bros. Is the second highest selling game EVER is Japan. The only one to beat it was the original super mario bros......
