haha grand theft mario would be hilarious.  anyone seen that episode of robot chicken!!! man not that would be some funny stuff!  i just love how mario killed a turtle and that is what gave him is first star and then running from the cops in his mario kart got him another hahaha. good stuff!!!  but serisously what is wrong with using characters for other games.  i love super puzzle fighter!  great use of streetfighter chracters!  and i hear people hyping halo wars... um what is halo over used and what about one of the biggest selling games in the past few years world of warcraft...  darn they should not have used that warcraft lisence... it made the game horrible!  nothing worng with lisencing a franchise as long as the game is still good.

Theres only ONE franchise that has more than 1 sequel per generation as far as I can tell of the mario brand. Thats mario Party.....who really cares....The rest of the games are completely different and original and a lot of them are very good. Every FF is at least an RPG. The mario games are all completely different for the most part.

How is it the same game every time? It's a new story with new characters, and they usually change the gameplay. For example, FF12 is no longer turn based. The problem is, people see Mario on everything. Mario soccer, baseball, Mario Party 10 or whatever... Then you've got all of the platformers, it just seems like it's a never ending thing. The platformers are good (obviously), but I don't like the Mario sports games. I prefer the EA/2k sports stuff.  

 Sheep just don't get it. Playing a different character makes a world of difference. Why do they think Okami outscored Twilight Princess? 

And anyone who thinks the FF series are all the same have no idea what they are talking about. Its almost a different game every time which is more then you can say for Nintendo's closet full of whored our characters.

Doesnt change the fact almost everyone thinks TP > Okami.  Also I still cant believe how big of a fanboy for the double standards you have for Nintendo verses everyone else.  At least Nintendo averages ONE GAME PER GENERATION of its mario games (Only exception is mario party).  Cant say that for other companies like sony......Ratchet and Rehash 5 coming out?  Maybe a little SOCOM Rehash 5 also?  Maybe if your lucky you can get some Jak and Reshash 4?  Even microsoft Halo rehash 3?  I truely dont care when games do this but the way you think Nintendo is the only one is just plain fanboyish.   If you think mario is bad you should make a thread about how sony should just shut down because it milks its franchises so much. 

Mario franchises i'm ok with:

Paper Mario
Super Mario
Mario Strikers
Mario Tennis
Mario Kart

These are the console one's i'm ok with.  The rest of the console Marios could die and rot in hell for all i care.  Last gen, there was ONE of all these games released, so they milk the franchise, not the game.  Also, except for Mario Kart (for some weird reason), all those games scored AA or higher.

Basically, Mario lost his "coolness" with me, once Nintendo started spaming out Mario games left and right to make profit off of his name, and not put out games worthy of his name.

Mario is slowly becoming like sonic is now today..... and thats not good. And this coming from a person that grew up on Super Mario Bros.

I'll agree that the Mario Franchise seems to be everywhere today, but this is not necessarily a bad thing quality-wise. All the games I've played that have had Mario in them are pretty well polished and enjoyable. I'd say he's just overexposed rather than rehashed, they at least try to spin the new games somehow, like online here in "Strikers Charged" (they need a better naming team thought. Come on charged?)
