I agree that they should get some new IPs, but why would you want them to kill their old franchises off? I actually think it is amazing that they have been able to keep Mario, Zelda, and Metroid fresh and relevant even after all of these years. That's not something most companies can claim.

Well Sega did manage something that nintendo has always fail to deliver and it is to create a good 3D Patformer, Sonic for dreamcast was a masterpiece the best Sonic game ever made, the same can't be said about nintendo since tne mario series turned 3D the games have been complete trash.
And quality games that almost 90% of the time get AAA scores.

No, I'm being very serious. If you actually played the newer games, you would see that they all play very differently or introduce new aspects that change everything (such as gravity and circular worlds in SMG and multiplayer in NSMBWii)
I know right, The Paper Mario series, Mario & Luigi Trilogy,Super Mario 64, NSMB, and Super Mario Galaxy were such horrible abominations. :roll:

agreed mario this , mario that, mario everywhere... and the sheep all are fine with it... it seems just like halo for the lems if it has mario in it they will buy it.... i lost interest after the snes which was the last nintendo console i really loved. Great 3rd party support .... than that went to the PlayStation after that and they brought adult focused cinematic games and loads and loads of RPGS... and thats where i went! been there and pc ever since... tried the wii and owned it for a year it got played for the first month and then never again...sold it for ps3 games.... true story...lol.

The spin offs, yes, but the main series games are excellent. One was revolutionary, one was just plain awesome, and the other won 2007 GOTY. They are all great.
And while I agree that Mario is very overrated, I can't say it is the most overrated. Halo, COD, and other beat it out. They are all great, but not as great as what people say.

Super Mario 64 made a successful transition from 2D to 3D (something that Sonic still hasn't been able to do) and defined how platformers would work in 3D. Super Mario Sunshine, introduced the water cannon thing and is currently AAA on Gamerankings. NSMB created an interesting fusion of 2D and 3D and was the first sidescrolling Mario game in years. SMG is the highest rated game this gen and won GOTY from a number of sites, including this one.

I was being serious, you dont just read the reviews, you go and play the actual games and guess what? They turn out to be great. Thats why mario games continue to sell like crazy. If the games were bad mario wouldve died a long time ago.

I applaud you for the most original comeback ever.
I don't agree with TC, hell, the main Mario games have always been amazing (one of my fav games of all time is Paper Mario 2) but seriously, sheep like Pices can think of a better comeback than comparing Nintendo franchises to the FPS genre.
