I know right, The Paper Mario series, Mario & Luigi Trilogy,Super Mario 64, NSMB, and Super Mario Galaxy were such horrible abominations.

The Paper Mario series include 3 games, as does the Mario & Luigi Trilogy.
And there's been over 200 Mario games since the SNES days? Care to back that up?

What he meant by the statement, is that there are ALOT.Oh I know what he meant, but it doesn't prevent his argument drom being weak. Instead of actually, I dunno, giving a decent argumemt on why he think the series is overrated, or explain titles that prove his point, he just pulls a random number from his butt.

Overrated and milked are two different things. Having a large amount of titles does not make a series overrated.:|
Also A little thing I liked to point out, come next year the 6th Halo game will be out. Still not a lot, but I noticed you decided to ignore Halo's spin offs. If that's the case, there's only been 15 actual mario games in the past 28 years.
wow, TC actually took the devaition of topic from another thread and made his own. glad you're actually using the subjective stance for the most part (though you failed to reply to the last things I stated on the significance of the franchise to the industry). however, if you're talking about the main installments you will be in the minority simply because such a statement is rather outlandish. the amount of joy mario has brought to gamers with the main installments and less game centric audiences with his various (though admittedly too frequent) spinoffs cannot be denied. there obviously is still magic there if critics who've played thousands of games over the decade and managed to make a professional career in such, and gamers who've likely played just as much, can still find reason to praise it and in the masses.
I understand this isnt going to change your mind quality wise, you've made your stance on what your gaming tastes are. Still, I hope based on the other topic we've debated in earlier it can at least be acknowledged that there is great significance to this franchise industry wise, regarldess of taste.

Bungie has only produced 3 main Halo games, and 1 expansion. The reason for the fact that an RTS Halo was released was because the Halo universe is so huge, that it can transform into other genres and other sort of media.
Nintendo has produced so many Mario games not because Mario is a huge 'world', or something, but because they can't think of anything else, lacking any sort of imagination that could ever be there.
That's why the majority of Mario games tend to suck big time, while all Bungie-produced Halo games have received AAA-status and been million-selling games.

now I know you havent actually played much of the installments for etiher mario or zelda. the transition from 2D, to 3D, to galaxy is alot more of a differance than you probably realise. and you should know how very different each zelda is (with exception to oot and tp which were very identical) and considering all the characters seen in smash have franchises with entries at least in the Gamecube/ga era (pit aside) era... I fail to see how all they think is mario and zelda. clearly you either have an unwarranted bias or are very misinformed, bordering on complete ignorance to what you're talking about. you should know gameplay and originality extends beyond what avatar the main character happens programmed with.

I didnt throw sonic into any of my arguments, I think you have me confused with someone else in that regard. also the game you were using to compare it with was nothing like mario games, but surely qualified as being in the genre which I can acknowledge. again, your personal taste on how well they were used is subjective but the mimicking from other devs of those new concepts post what you consider "average" shows quite a bit of industry influence as was the point of our debate in the previous topic. they milk the character mario yes. but again, the main installments pretty much stand on their own according to many experienced gamers. I would love to hear the specific reasons why the main installments past 3D were terrible reletive to their time. Im not looking for hostility, but what about their design and mechanics irked you the wrong way?
