Lack of metroid instantly makes this a joke. The prime trilogy are some of the best games to ever come out. Period.Â

[QUOTE="ConanTheStoner"][QUOTE="bbkkristian"] Not only that, there have been Crisis Core and Dissidia. Both of which are a million times better than GOW.Consternated
Most games are better than GoW tbh. Â But its one of the more simple games in its genre and it has excellent visuals, so its a shoe in for the main stream.
I... Didn't think a huge amount of Crisis Core :( Shoot me! God of War challenged me quite nicely on the hardest difficulties, but I do suck at those type of games.I havent even played Crysis Core, so I dont know.
I dont think the GoW games are terrible or anything. Â I just find it annoying that they get so much hype when there are so many better games in the genre.

I agree. I'm sort of the same with Elder Scrolls & RPGs, but I'm much worse when it comes to Final Fantasy... You can't compare a game like FF13 favourably to FF6 :P Not while keeping a straight face, anyway! It's a franchise I've grown up with FF games, and find myself pretty disheartened by the latest offerings.Definitely. That's why a Mario game on one platform sells three times as much as an Elder Scrolls game on three platforms.charizard1605
Be gone with your facts heathen! Â Gamespot polls are pin point accurate tools for measuring appeal.

:P  Its probably my favorite game of all time, certainly in the top 5 at least.
So yes, I can completely relate. Â It sickens me that some people look at FFXV like its going to be a turn around for the series. Â Some f*ckers even say its "taking FF back to its roots"... what f*cking roots, it looks like a j-pop action game!

Exactly the same here. If it's not my first, it's certainly in the top three.Hah, yeah... I can't really enjoy Final Fantasy anymore. Maybe one day they'll ditch the stale as hell dystopian cyberpunk settings and bring the series back to its real roots... Fantasy! Caves, dragons, castles, dungeons, paladins, etc :P

Would be great! Â Its not even so much the setting that bothers me. Â I just want a game that is fun to play, has lots to do, has a fun story, has likeable characters and a world to get immersed in. Â They just cant seem to hit all these notes at once anymore.
FF14 actually looks nice, but alas, its an MMO... not my thing.
Of all time, Mario is the greater franchise when you include its perfect classics like Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3. Plus other great games like Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and so on. But from the last decade, there really hasn't been that many good Mario titles.
Â
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are great yes, but better than Oblivion and Skyrim? And Morrowind? Naah.
It's going to end up between GTA and Zelda.Grey_Eyed_ElfWhat? Zelda and GTA will meet in the semi finals. And I believe GTA will take it to the finals. On the other side, we'll MOST LIKELY have Half life vs Metal Gear (I hope Metal Gear takes it) that will face Final Fantasy. And I think both Metal Gear and Half Life could over take Final Fantasy. tl;dr its either going to be Metal Gear vs GTA or Half Life vs Zelda. or any of the 4 combinations.
Morrowind came out in 2002. We're forgetting Super Smash Bros. Brawl, as well. I could talk about how Skyrim is a poor game forever, but hey, my ramblings are irrelevant. Needless to say, I do think SMG1 & 2, as well as SSBB, are better games than Skyrim. I'm not a huge Mario fan (hell, I don't own any Nintendo console anymore), but yeah :)Of all time, Mario is the greater franchise when you include its perfect classics like Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3. FFXII >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GOW2 > GOW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FFXIII
I haven't played GOW3 yet but if it's more of the same...
Consternated
Edited for accuracy.
Once more, and although I do disagree about FFXII being better than GOW, XIII was just a new low.
To be honest, I found FFXII to be just as disappointing as FFXIII.
For one FFXII's battle system, or the aspects of the battle system were disappointing. The summons wereutterly useless, the quickenings became more useless as I got closer to the end of the game and were facing tougher monster hunts. The gambit system was interesting, although I really found no need for it, outside of making healing a bit more convenient, but outside of that I probably missed out on 90%-95% of what the gambit system offered and still managed to do all main/optional stuff. The one thing that was nice was the fact that you could see monsters on the field and didn't even need to go on a whole seperate screen to fight them, which saved time.
While FFXIII was also pretty mediocre, atleast every aspect of the battle system actually had a purpose, and the summons could actually be useful (although to be fair I guess XIII's summons could be considered the same as XII's gambit system, in that they're useful but not required.)
The license grid was also kinda lame due to the fact it restricted what you could equip and that you had to get enough LP points to be able to equip stuff, because apparantly just having to be able to buy or find the equipment wasn't enough.
The things FFXII did do better than FFXIII were its monster quests, and its pacing. the writing and dialogue were also better, but FFXII's story was very hard to follow and its cast of characters were also lame so FFXII's story didn't really impress me either.Â
For me, both FFXII and FFXIII are pretty much in the same boat. Neither were outright bad games, but both were still pretty mediocre and disappointing compared to other games in the main series.

Morrowind sucks and that is supposed to be the best of those three.
Galaxy 1 and 2 are easily the best platformers this gen and far superior to its predecessors (SM64 and SMS). Moreover they destroy anything Bethesda has made this gen.
Hell I'd rather play SM64 then play Morrowind.
It's funny that their solution to some people disagreeing with their seeding methods has been to use the worst possible method of seeding, so everyone disagrees with it.
Don't forget who won greatest sidekick. GS contests are awful.I remember when Gordan Freeman won best character.
Anyways TES is a boring franchise.

That character won because another site invaded this site. They haven't done this yet for this contest.

SSB was already knocked out in the first round.
No Metroid and no Pokemon in the preliminaries? Lulz.More of a sign of the hate Mario and Nintendo in general get on Gamespot. Guaranteed there are people voting against Mario rather than voting for TES.
It lost its credibility when they didn't put Metroid on the list.
Mario going out in round 2 is a joke.
Dunno, Zelda seems to be doing pretty well for itself, considering all this alleged Nintendo hate.More of a sign of the hate Mario and Nintendo in general get on Gamespot. Guaranteed there are people voting against Mario rather than voting for TES.

Whilst I have fallen out of favor with Nintendo because of their stupid hardware designs and decisions but I think Marios impact on gaming is there to see. Super Mario Bros,64,Galaxy.
Whilst it's been off form for a couple of years the games are at least solid unlike some series.
Oh man. GOW vs FF was a tough one. In the end i gave it to FF. Had way more fun and put way more hours in to FFXIII. Easily the best FF game.
I'm not sure if everyone here is aware of this, but GameSpot "all time greatest" contests aren't taken seriously very much. They don't really mean anything at all.

Fallout and Final Fantasy are also beating God of War and Uncharted. It seems like people here prefer RPG's over boring platformers and action games.

Not to mention a certain Web site those contests attract every year...
No surprise, considering the community here but hey at least it is slightly better than Guinness World Record Gamer's edition's poll.
mario is far from losing its appeal , wth you on, its still selling isnt it not,  look at mariokart 7 nsmb2 super mario 3dland , then you got sub games like luigis mansion  etc mario franchise will never die ,Â
