Nintendo's legacy is tarished. It seems like a lifetime again that I played Zelda for the first time, played Mario Cart with my friends, or saw Mario 64. It seems that they are moving farther and farther away from what once made them so special.
Sony on the other hand seems to be getting better and better.
Maybe I would feel different if I was a lot younger and was closer to the demographic that Nintendo is shooting for.
I doubt it, but he is waay up there. Can't think fo anyone else who would challenge for second. That's why I think that.[QUOTE="lx_theo"]
Cerny is certainly on a path to be comparable to Miyamoto in significance in the industry. Hell, he's probably second to him now.

You know the funny part about being older, you start to feel nostalgic. I personally find Sony's emphasis on cinematic games with big set pieces to be tiring and uninspiring. Nintendo's greatest legacy is creating fun, accessible games that challenge players and brings people together. Sony is trying to copy the legacy of Kojima and Sakaguchi.Nintendo's legacy is tarished. SONY will have its own unique legacy.
SONY is known for new and innovating games which break records.Kidtendo is known for pointless gimmicks and 1980s cartoon rehashes.
They cannot be compared.

No. way. I like Cerny, but no. I would even put Peter Molyneux over him.

I disagree a lot on that. Though it not worth getting into given how much I'd need to.Lol. Someone started gaming in 2007.NO

After PS4 sells 100 million+ and Wii U sells 30 million it will be over. Sony will have mudstomped Nintendo in 3 out of 4 gens.
Cerny has been around in videogame history, but to say he is in the same league that Miyamoto is in is laughable to anyone but the most die-hard Sony fan. Willy105

Sony and MS are pushing the industry forward now.Nintendo used to do this 15 years ago,but not now.And with the wii, they tarnished their image.

Pff, Nintendo fans would think it blasphemy to put anyone else in that league in the first place. Again, I think he's second because every other significant person the in industry seems lesser than his influence.

To you perhaps. Without the Wii, we wouldn't be having motion control gaming on smartphones/tablets, 360 or the PS3. The Wii was a breath of fresh air in an industry that competes for the biggest phallic while the Wii shows you how to use the phallic. That image Nintendo has created is still alive and well, and Gamerankings would agree with me (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are the top three games of all times).[QUOTE="PonchoTaco"]I doubt Sony will surpass Nintendo. Sales have little to nothing to do with a legacy. Nintendo has been credited for bringing back the industry after the arcade crash and early home console crash. They have created the most well known IPs on the planet. I still hear people refer to all systems as "Nintendo" games. That is the influence Nintendo has had not just on the people who game but to those who do not anything at all. They have by far the most well known characters to gamers and non gamers. They have more games on "top" lists than anyone else. They have some of the highest rated and most innovative games available. They brought millions of "casuals" into the world of gaming. They created the market model for home systems and brought much needed competition into the market as well. They created the handheld market model that exists today. They have done so much more for the industry than any other company will ever be able to achieve. They may not have the best systems or games in the grand scheme of things but their legacy can never be topped. They are a part of history like no other company will be able to match.[QUOTE="PonchoTaco"]I doubt Sony will surpass Nintendo. StrongBlackVine

Sony doesn't have any of the lovable characters that Nintendo has. Nintendo has built a legacy that everybody can like. A legacy is not all about sales, bro.[QUOTE="StrongBlackVine"]

Just saying Sony has been very important to gaming as well. We would still be using cartridges, sub HD and no online if Nintendo was still leading the industry. Sony didn't do all of that, but Nintendo is constantly behind.

I don't know... I haven't known Cerny to make any genre defining or defying games... Miyamoto has created several during his career.

*dozensNintendo has been around much more and surely their success cannot be questioned but at the same time Sony already has its own legacy considering all their systems sold millions and had great games libraries !!
Will Sony ever match nintendo's legacy? maybe, but it wont be easy !!
I doubt Sony will surpass Nintendo. PonchoTacoThis will most likely be the last nintendo console they screwed up bad with the wii u.

Exactly. Then once you take a step back from that there are dozens of designers that have more impressive resumes than Cerny. That said, I think Cerny seems to be cool people and I like him a lot. We need more like him in the industry. He's old school in the best possible way.
I am surprised by some peoples lack of knowledge of what Nintendo has done for the industry. You can argue opinions of the companies tactics, sales, games and what not. What you can not argue is the fact that they resurrected the market and that has led to what it is today. They are responsible for what the console and handheld markets have become and the competition it has brought. They have brought many new ideas, some good and some bad, to the market which has also inspired innovation and change.
You realize that Sony may have never even entered the console market if not for Nintendo.
Have you noticed that the first PS controller is basically a SNES controller rip off with added palm grips?
The PS brand came out of a failed partnership of Nintendo and Sony to create a disc based system add on for Nintendo.

None of that change the fact that Sony has been better than Nintendo since the first PlayStation.
