Sadly is not shocking since it's Capcom and i believe everything they do with that awful thing names DLC, specially after the SSF4 fiasco with costumes.
Most developers create content after the game is finished and sell it at a later time. Capcom sells you a license to play what's already on the disc. This is the kind of DLC that people should be able to complain about.
I don't think you legally get everything on the disk. Otherwise everyone wouldn't be doing it. It's just dishonest, is all. Most developers create content after the game is finished and sell it at a later time. Capcom sells you a license to play what's already on the disc. That doesn't change the fact that there's no reason they couldn't have included it in the game. The milking developers have been doing this gen is getting out of control. I mean... really? What's next? Are developers only going to include 1 character with the game and make you have to pay extra for the rest of them? :roll:Messiahbolical-
That they didn't want to is more than enough reason for it not to be included in the game. It's their product after all, they can do whatever they want with it, just like the consumer can choose to either buy it or not.
Legally speaking, most from of software can have locked content. The software maker is only responsible for giving exactly what they offered (whatever it was). Most developers create content after the game is finished and sell it at a later time. Gimp the overall lineup? Check
Have dlc ready before the game comes out? Check
Not include many features included in their other games? Check
Its like they're trying to make me not want to buy the game. And they know im going to, so why not just try to squeeze all the money out of me with dlc?
I never buy dlc but it pisses me off knowing that i have a game that isnt complete, or others have more characters or options and content because they are willing to pay for things developers should be including in the full game. sometimes consumers are so dumb, they ask to be taken advantage of because they show they are willing to pay more for less.
This is common practice for Capcom. They have done this on almost every big release this console generation. I don't like it, but It's not a surprise.
Given that the official MvC3 guide already has the move list and in depth play strategies for both DLC characters, I'm going to assume they are already on the disk and fully completed.

Who's arguing that? I don't recall there be anything in my post arguing the legality of it. I simply think it's pathetic, and if we, the customers, keep buying into it and supporting it... it'll only get worse and worse.Thank Microsoft. They're responsible. God bless them and their ever so positive contributions to the gaming world!Master_ShakeXXX
Microsoft didn't force Capcom to do anything.
Any person (and as such, traduced to a company) is responsible for his or her actions.
The same applies to those who decided to lock content on MvC3.
I think the peeps at Capcom Unity said that Jill and Shuma are on the Disc and Frank West and I can't remember but another Marvel Character are also on the Disc.
ALSO Capcom Said this.
We did not intentionally delay the DLC characters as we know how badly our fans want to play them. This was an unfortunate technical issue and we apologize for them not being available today.

You know what I meant. Microsoft is responsible for making DLC *robbery* a common thing in the gaming world.Thank Microsoft. They're responsible. God bless them and their ever so positive contributions to the gaming world!Master_ShakeXXX
Dude, Capcom Gave PS3 Collector's Edition Owners a Code while 360 CE Owners have to WAIT for a Code.
You know what I meant. Microsoft is responsible for making DLC *robbery* a common thing in the gaming world.Master_ShakeXXXMicrosoft didn't make it common, they introduced it (there's a difference). The reason it is common it's because the consumer reacted positively (buying DLC) and the developers found a good way of increasing profits in it. So the three components of this industry (the consumer, the console makers and the developers) are happy. Seems like it was a good idea.

Actually microsoft did make it common. Map packs, avatars and such.. not only that buy the force all devs to charge for any content on live.

What? Who is happy over this? When Capcom announced DLC for RE5 a few weeks after release there was quite some outrage from fans as to why Capcom didn't include it on the disc.
Aka same situation here. Stop being so optimistic over developers charging you money for skins and clothing.

Giving us 36 characters far greater than the majority of fighters ever made, and then giving us the option to buy more characters later on that aren't needed!

Map packs, avatars and such.. not only that buy the force all devs to charge for any content on live.Espada12No idea becomes common without the proper support from the consumer and the third party developers. My point was that if this trend became a trend, it was because it was warmly received by the whole industry, not because a single company plotted evilly against us.

... Capcom has full right to do as it pleases... Either buy it or don't buy it.. With out the DLC the reviewers thought this game was already solid to begin with.. The DLC was just a optional bonus you didn't need to get..[QUOTE="IronBass"] The reason it is common it's because the consumer reacted positively (buying DLC) and the developers found a good way of increasing profits in it. Amen brother! *brofist*
Yeah they intoduced it, so they're responsible for it :P You support this kind of stuff? :?Master_ShakeXXXThose who follow are always as (if not more) responsible as the ones that introcuce it. And about your question, I don't support it nor do I negect it. I do a lot of research before getting a game, so I know what I'm getting, so it doesn't affect me if there's locked content. I haven't bought a single piece of locked DLC though, but only because they hadn't been worthy, not because something else.
Hugo
Hugo (ヒューゴー Hyūgō?) is a massive professional wrestler from Germany who makes his first appearance in the series in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, although he is present as an incomplete character in New Generation.
This wasn't even news over 10 years ago people.

My point was about DLC in general.
And I'm not being optimistic, I'm just following the line of reasoning that if people keep paying for something, it's because they're happy with it.

...I know.
We're not here to argue what Capcom can and cannot do, it's about what they should do. You paid $60 for a game, it's not too much to ask from Capcom to include all of your favourite characters instead of leaving you out in the cold.
Granted, if they had included it as an expansion with various different characters, levels, skins etc it have at least been worth the price. But charging money for one sole character, or level, or skin?
Please. You're not going to get very far in business if you're going to disgruntle your own fanbase.

:|I would agree if it were not for the fact they shipped 36 CHARACTERS... It sounds like your a fanboy that is upset not to see their favorite character in it.. Its pointless, the only thing coming close to a real complaint would be if the game shipped with few characters..

Where does it say that? Furthermore who says you need to get it? The game is considered complete, the only thing extra now is all gravy that doesn't need to be bought, except to the peopel whor eally like it..
Please. You're not going to get very far in business if you're going to disgruntle your own fanbase.
That makes alot of sense when DLC's are increasing, and so are their sales... If this is what it takes to give game support after its release I am all for it... If the game allows me to play 50 hours or more at least and than adds even MORE value with a minscule charge.. I am all for it.. But yet again no one is stopping you from not buying it.. You guys think you have been shorted.. But yet again this rationale for this game is ridiculous..
