i remember back in the day Mortal Kombat had 7 characters
And they all played exactly the same besides their special moves.... which in some cases where exactly the same with a different animation.
The Snes had limited memory.[QUOTE="IronBass"]Common practice of Capcom. Not that it would have make any difference if they had make her a DL character. They wanted to charge for her, it's their right.Messiahbolical-That doesn't change the fact that there's no reason they couldn't have included it in the game. The milking developers have been doing this gen is getting out of control. I mean... really? What's next? Are developers only going to include 1 character with the game and make you have to pay extra for the rest of them? :roll:Don't be suprised if they started to charge for bonus moves, and combos.

[QUOTE="Timstuff"]You're penalizing yourself, buddy. Why? Because I'll save money by playing the game later than most other people? I don't see how saving money can ever be a penalty. I will give Capcom less of my money and get the same content, therefore it is Capcom who is being penalized. They can either get my money sooner or later, and they chose later because they knew they could milk extra cash out of the hardcore fans. In fact, Capcom will really only be getting money for the DLC from me, since I'll probably end up buying the game used to get it at the cheapest possible price. I would have gladly paid $60 for the game straight to Capcom if it would get me all the content that's on the disc, but that's not how they wanted to play, so I will be buying the disc second-hand and Capcom will get no money from me except what it costs for me to unlock all the characters. Maybe if they cut me a better deal, I wouldn't be resorting to buying the game used. That's lame. Crap like this is why I will not be buying this game at full price. If I'm going to pay $60 for a game, I'd better be getting the whole thing. If I have to spend $30 to unlock everything I'll wait until the disc is $30.

Crapcom is addicted to selling keys for on-disc content. Between this and Bionic Commando requiring you to stay connected to the internet, I don't really see any reason to buy or play any of Capcom's games in the near future. They dumbed down the gameplay in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and even though it came out nearly 2 years after Street Fighter IV, the graphics have gotten worse. I think for now, I'll just stick to playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Accurate Remix on my Dreamcast. Back in those days, you unlocked characters by beating the game. These days, you unlock them by inputting your credit card number.
Where did you go wrong, Capcom? This generation you gave us Lost Planet, Mega-Man 9, and Street Fighter IV! But then, you had to go shove out Lost Planet 2, the crappy Bionic Commando reboot, horrible DRM on Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, the weaksauce Mega-Man 10, and Resident Evil 5 and "DMC" which barely even resemble their forebearers. How the mighty have indeed fallen.
Though Crapcom is raking in the cash with petty milking tactics like this, so they're content with less content (pun intended :P).
Their fanbase doesn't really matter to them anymore, they became this semi-casual developer/publisher that only cares about the money they get.
This will hurt them in the long run. Or not and we will get even more extreme cases of DLC.

* MVC3 still requires a learning curve, did you play it? Graphics don't matter especially since SSF4 and MVC3 use two completely different art*****, the game looks phenomenal in person. You'll penalize yourself playing the broken mess known as MVC2. Regarding the unlocking, in MvC2, 99% of the sprites were RE-USED and pasted into the game. So it was easier. In MVC3, every 3D model is created from scratch so appreciate the effort and work, not to mention the budget and time constraints.
* Lost Planet 2 was decent. Bionic Commando 1 got great reviews. BC2 was true of what you said. MEgaman 10 was amazing especially it went 8bit that everyone wanted .RE5 got great reviews and DMC isn't released .Please don't give this drama on the all-mighty and blablabla

I'm with LastRambo341 on this one. It has been proven that the character is incomplete. She lacks the voicework and her moves have yet to be balanced. What's the big deal? Would it have been better if they didn't put the incomplete character data on the disc and charged everyone to download her? In the end, it's pretty much the same thing because you'll still have to pay up to use her.Its capcom, so i`m not surprised, the funny part is the fanboys seem to defend this like its a great idea

Capcom announced early on that Jill and Shuma would be DLC; you reallyshouldn't be surprised that they're charging for them. Yeah I suppose, they would have needed to delay the game though. Certification takes quite a while from what I heard.
i expect next gen (or maybe even the end of this gen) to look something like this
$60 for the game
dlc to be released on day 1 :
$10 story mode
$10 versus mode
$5 for extra costumes
$5-$10 for extra levels/missions
and lets not forget the extra $1-$10 for extra characters, music, weapons etc.
I seriously expect companies to ramp up the milking because people keep buying it.

Pretty sure it's also for compatibility purposes with people that didn't buy the DLC - if the entirety of the character was contained in the downloaded file, only people that bought the DLC would be able to see her. People that didn't would have to see some sort of placeholder, or Capcom would have to pay $$$ to put up another free download for the non-DLCers to be able to 'see' the stuff. They caught hell for that over SSF4 per that thread (last post). Granted, it was only Sony being pricks about it.[QUOTE="z4twenny"]

Data was left in because of sony's policy with data on PSN. I believe I read somewhere that MS covers it but sony doesn't. Ark sys works did the same thing, but I suppose BB is not big enough of a game for people to think about it. TBH I think it sucks, I would have rather all the stuff on the disk and capcom's terrible handling of DLC has been really annoying. In this particular case I'm not too mad about it. I understand why it had to be done for this instance. But for stuff like RE5's versus mode? That was just awful and in very poor taste by capcom.

Yeah, I mentioned it and linked the previous story - it doesn't look like anybody bothered to read/respond to it, though. The real problem here isn't data being left on the disk so much as a company releasing an unfinished product and then charging extra when the product is finally complete. Buying MVC 3 is like paying full price for a beta and then still being expected to pay $30 for the game when it is finished.
Capcom is not alone here, but this practice is the worst thing about gaming this gen.

That was primarily last gen and this gen has some examples too. LPB2 was delayed 4 months or so in order to ensure gamers the maximum detail to the game and it payed off. It's not a free bonus because Special edition owners paid more.
What budget constraints?Locutus_PicardSimple question, simple answer. If there is DLC for a multiplayer game that requires other non-DLC players to have access to the assets (character artwork, etc), it has to be hosted for the non-DLC players to download or else they can't see anything. MS covers this for the companies when they put up DLC. Sony doesn't, and charges to do it. On Sony's end, the only way around it without paying Sony more $$$ is to put art/sound/etc assets on the disk, so it won't have to be downloaded. Either that, or people without the DLC won't be able to see the DLC.

PurpleMan5000
Please do tell us all here how MvC3 is a unfinished product? 36 characters, a bunch of stages... In fact the only thing that could be argued beng light on is game modes.. Something NO one talks about.. instead they cry about characters that the game didn't release with, and is not necessary in ever getting.. Maybe if the game lacked characters compared to other fighters of the gen there would be some merit.. But its in fact the EXACT opposite, it outnumbers the majority of fighters out there in the genre.. Hell I wills ay it has more MEANINGFUL characters in this game than the clones and useless characters that were in MvC2.
The game is unfinished because they are still working on additional characters. This game will have a strong online focus and there is no guarantee that the downloadable characters won't be overpowered to the point of ruining online play for those who don't purchase the additional characters.PurpleMan5000
Then all games are unfinished than when they released because they have dlcs planned in the future.. This just shows how big of fail your logic is.. The game as it stands is complete...... These are additional things into the future that you do not have to get, the game is fine as it stands with out them... And your claim at the end remains to be seen.
