Except, Mass Effect 2 isn't exclusive.

it is hard to believe anything kotaku says about any exclusive game on the 360. they are being feed ALOT of sony money. one example is how they praized ninja gaiden sigma 2 and told us it will have mroe feature in all aspects than ninaj gaiden 2 and FAIL to mention that the will be no blood and where not even sure that bofies do not disappear. anyways you cant take anything kotaku says about any platform that is not japanese seriously they are VERY biased.

no wii no ps3 only on 360 yet so yea it is a console exclusive.
*AHEM* PC?:|Why not? Mass Effect bascially hit everything with a deep RPG system, they're making the game better with better combat.
SynisterGamer
Uh...well, it had a few stats, which didn't do much...and there were dialogue options, although they didn't do much...and there were basically three character types to focus on, but you had a party of three people, so that made all of your characters feel a bit similar...and so on.
I wouldn't call Mass Effect a 'deep' RPG. If anything, it was probably Bioware's most shallow RPG (still a good game though - it had style). So I'd have preferred it if they'd said that they were expanding the RPG elements, not the shooter parts.

yeah see that RPG part?? they placing more emphasis on the SHOOTER part NOT the RPG part.. i don't want another Gears of War clone or something. No, they're just tightening up the combat so it feels better. ME1 was kinda clunky. You speak the truth AAllxxjjnn and BioShockOwnz. I glad to hear that BioWare is working on the shooter elements because it did feel clunky and somewhat broken in the first title. It's an Action/RPG. Understand? The first one wasn't any different. Don't like it, don't play it.

I'm not gonna read the three pages worth of replies or even the OP, but I'm gonna be comfortable in guessing that it's another case of interpretting "improving combat mechanics" as "giving combat greater emphasis".

How did you know?
Because I'm Verge. I'm just awesome like that. :DThey showed some gameplay footage, and it looks practically identical to the first one.I'm going to wait until I see some gameplay before I judge it. I loved the first game and I expect this to be no different. I just know the story is going to be epic:D

One of the things i didn't like much about Mass Effect was the fact that it felt like a shooter with some some RPG elements in it, seems now they're just gonna drop the whole RPG thing and mkae just another Sci-fi shooter. UGH
VideoGameGuy
You are outright lying. They just said they will make shooting more action liek and fun, the RPG aspect is 100% intact and there, like in the first anyway

Really...how can anyone believe that TC says...original ME has so little RPG elements that if they would be removed it wouldn't be RPG anymore, so of course they won't dumb it down
I enjoyed Mass Effect, shallow as hell roleplaying and all. Just fix the combat
and elevators, overall performance, AI, add interesting side quests, less Mako and add more "town" areas
and everything will be great.
Talk about grabbing a single line and blowing it out of proportion. If you look at the original interview, it was one of three things which were stated by Muzyka. The full section is ...
"There's a few bigger buckets of things we're working on. One of them is the intensity of the action, amping that up so people will see this as a shooter RPG...It's going to feel like shooter fans are going to have a great experience...Another category we're working on are the moment to moment interactions, kind of grabbing control of them more, and we'll show that later as well ... Exploration, we're still trying to tighten up that experience," Muzyka continued. "It's still optional and there's still uncharted world that'll be optional, but we want every single one of them to feel like they're adding something important to the main storyline. So you feel yeah they're optional, but I feel like I really want to do that. So that's a philosophy change too." ( taken from here)IGN
Adding more action is only one of the things they are trying to improve. Also, Mass Effect has always been an Action RPG, from the above statement all I can gather is that they are trying to increase the intensity of combat, as well as improve and make exploration more rewarding. Both of which seem like good things.

a shooter ? pfft so what, Mass effect was probably THE best Rpg released this gen so far noone else has topped it, speaking of which, where the hell is Jade empire 2 goddamit
The gameplay is being improved, how terrible. :|GetOffMyLawnPlzyea i mean can you even believe it, someone to just improve gameplay like that, the friggin nerve of developers these days always improving stuff i tell ya its ridiculous
they claim a team is working on Jade empire 2.......what im curious about is, how in the hell is mass effect 2 already announced with trailers and still no sign of jade empire 2 T_T
I don't think you understand. Most people who complained abut Mass Effect's combat stated that the disliked the emphasis of abilities such as Throw, Heal, Sabotage enemy shields, nd so forth. They wanted the game to be 100% shooting, no skills or abilities whatsoever. That is NOT "fixing" the bad parts, that is called dumbing the game down for people who can't understand there are better ways to play a shooting game than just pressing a button to fire your weapon.Yeah, fixing the bad parts of the game means they're dumbing it down. Right?

The first one's combat was horrible. They're planning on improving it. How is that bad?Rev3ngerIt wasn't horrible at all. Its just a matter of learning how to use abilities such as disabling enemy shields, healing, etc. Mass Effect is NOT a 100% shooting game.
EA.. That's all I have to say.Bioware has been turned to the "mainstream". Something I thought wouldn't happen.

Its just a matter of learning how to use abilities such as disabling enemy shields, healing, etc. Mass Effect is NOT a 100% shooting game. Even so. It was clunky and unrewarding. The PC version was a step in the right direction, and I'm hoping that ME2 will be yet another step in said direction. Of course, this is only good if none of the RPG elements get sacked in the process.
no wii no ps3 only on 360 yet so yea it is a console exclusive.
*AHEM* PC?:| *ahem* Read again? Or is the PC a console now? That's probably why he said CONSOLE exclusive. Not exactly. It seems that ME2 will have a real cover system. He sticks to some crates and walls about in the middle of the video. That combat video posted earlier made it look exactly like the first one.

http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/action/bioshock/index.html?tag=result;title;1I don't know what to think of it yet, Mass Effect had a great storyline, I loved the "shooter" aspect of it as well, I was waiting for a shooter/rpg game to come out, and a great story was a plus. I loved the graphics too.
Wouldnt happen had the industry not been casualised by Nintendo-Oath
Can you ever step into a thread without bashing Nintendo or their success?
Err really, did i? I mean yeah i bashed them in the last ME2 thread but thats itWhere did you get the idea that they were dropping the RPG part of the game? They just said they were making the shooting mechanics better.LINK
