Mass Effect 2: Mega Blowout Thread (ALL NEW CONFIRMED INFO)

Official Xbox Magazine has blown the cover off this white hot sequal to the 07' release Mass Effect. Mass Effect 2 will boast...

• Different locales- The Asari home world. The Krogan homeworld. etc.
  
• Completely overhauled inventory manegment
• New and familiar squadmates
• The RETURN of Commander Shepard- Through imported ME1 save or fresh start.
• New species
• New drivable vehicles (with completely overhauled driving mechanics.)
• New weapons (reported new gun that turns enemies to dust and a room clearing nuke type gun)
• New animations- ex. ME1 Shepard had 20 animations when taking cover. ME2 he has 200.
• New additions to conversation branching. Including mid-battle choices!
• Overhauled enemy AI
• More populated and asthetically interesting planets for side missions. Some as big as the Citidel.
• The return of the SS NORMANDY
  
• The promise of less elevators, more cinimatic loading sequences.
• The continuation of one of the most epic stories ever told in the medium.

I will add pictures as they're made available. The magazine has about 15 never before seen shots, but I can't access them at this time. If someone wants to scan them in be my guest. The game looks GREAT! Also, Many not yet revealed secrets will be made public at E3.

i just dont see this game not being AAA if all the glaring problems from the original ME are fixed. Excellent story backed up with great combat just makes this game look like a winner. Not to say the original wasnt great aswell, but it had its problems.

The games producer actually said, "it was the only thing in the game that we "select-Deleted" stating that it was brand new from the ground up.

Agreed completely... I have over 150 hours in the game. The producer also stated that they hit the forums really hard when ME1 launched and promised NO pop-in whatsoever.

Absolutely wonderful news, I cant wait for ME2. They just need to announce Jade Empire 2 and I would go bat S*** nutters.

Doubtful. All UE3 games have pop-in to some extent. Even games without UE3 have it, i.e. Uncharted.

I can't wait for Mass Effect 2, E3 should be great.

Well the first one is a radioative waste land, Not sure about the second one,it probably not well off after the Krogan rebellion.

More stuff: - New Mech enemies - You'll switch characters from Shepard to someone else later on in the game - You'll be visiting 'Omega' from the novels - Bioware's writer also wrote the Darth Bane novels (okay, that wasn't part of the interview :P) - The Geth from the trailer is a specific character rather than a generic enemy - They're just finishing the last ME1 DLC - It will use Unreal Engine 3 again, but w/out texture pop-in - there's a new ME Iphone game *sigh* - Some sort of special intro/tutorial - New Krogan character called 'Grunt'angelkimne

my level 60 shepard has 4 playthroughs on every difficulty (other than easy) and 100 hours of gameplay. I wonder how it will recognize my character. probably from my most recent saves... The magazine blowout is GREAT!!! BTW, get it.

I am extremely excited about the new DLC for Mass Effect. Bring Down the Sky was incredible, and I expect this new content to be nothing short.

whats a GodMod Shepard... sounds awesome! I did mine on the 360. I literally can't stop playing this game in 2 years. I have 4 other profiles (for achievment purposes) and I've easilly logged 150 hours in this game. Is GodMod PC only?

Win, win and more win. The game will be a masterpiece for me then. As the lack thereof was my only complaint for a game I otherwise loved the hell out of in the first one.

They said that they understood the feelings behind pop in, that it made this incredibly immersive experience feel plastic at times. They said that this game will be highly cinematic in its conversations, loading... no relying on the same over the shoulder veiw for every conversation etc. It sounds like they're really building an EPIC F'ing game... Trilogy!!!

The game is sounding perfect to me right now and I have faith that Bioware will follow through on every bit of it.
