Except for the part where it pisses off almost everybody who liked the first two games... that would work great.

And how much of a game is contained in a demo?
N7v1K0
Quite a lot actually. you get the Intro, Shepard's Awakening and I believe the first Mission.
Besides isn't a Demo supposed to give you a taste in the game to help decide whether or not to get it?
I played the Demo and Liked it but I think it's more of a 3rd Person Shooter than a RPG.
That's barely anything though. There's much more to ME2 than just that, it's not just shooting.
Yeah, Cutscenes that give you choices aparently make it an RPG. They had Cutscenes and Choices in the Demo too.

Are we really going to get back into the "not an RPG" bs?It's an RPG. It may be RPG light but every reputable website considers it an action RPG or at the very least a shooter/RPG hybrid.
I like how everyone in here is calling turn-based combat *JRPG combat*...
WRPG's invented turn-based combat.

dude calling Mass Effect 2 an RPG makes every game a RPG like Mario. You take on the Role of Mario. or Guitar Hero you take on the Role of the Guitar Hero, Metroid you take the Role of Samus, you get the picture?
By all Means Mass Effect is an ok series. I just don't classify it as a RPG. Hey look in the Bright Side Bioware can do more than just RPGs.

lol did you know on top of shooting you also explore an open universe, level, gain xp, upgrade armor, upgrade weapons, buy equipment, and customize your characters features, armor, and class design? How is that not an RPG?I like how everyone in here is calling turn-based combat *JRPG combat*...
WRPG's invented turn-based combat.

I honestly would love turn based combat is if it was as indepth as the actual table top rpg's.. JRPG's turn based were never that.

Well the first two Fallouts and Arcanum came the closest to a tabletop PnP RPG experience.
RIP Black Isle and Troika.

You do NOT take on the role of Mario when playing any of those Nintendo games. You don't take on the role of Kratos, Solid Snake, Marcus Feenix, Samus or Kasumi in any of their respective games either. That is merely controlling an on screen icon. Taking on the role means the role is defined by the player. Role playing is interacting with the world around you, and that experience is not found in any Mario game, or any of the other aformentioned examples I listed.
And beyond the role playing gameplay experience, ME2 still has other RPG mechanics. There's still levelling up in character building, as you develop your character along your chosen path based on your preferred play styIe, from the cIass to the custom abilities.
By any criteria, ME2 IS an RPG, and just because it doesn't follow a 20 year old formula, doesn't disqualify it either.
You want Sheppard to look like Lady Gaga with armor?darkspineslayer
Isn't that possible with the custom face editor? :P
And yeah, I do wish there was a pony tail hair styIe option so I could have my Lara Shepard
No, they bought it because it was a better game than Dragon Age.people bought it because it's a shooter.
Dragon Age, which was a better RPG (read: RPG) didnt sell as well on the 360 as ME2, simply because there was no shooting invovled. that's all there is to it.

A Lauded Shooter/*extremly light* WRPG, with JRPG elements?
Well I think that sums up my opinion of that.
While I'm not a hater of JRPG's in fact I prefer them over WRPGs and is a reason I'm not overly keen on Mass Effect in the first place, but this is like telling the creators of Blazeblue to make it a 3D fighting game, with 3D arenas....It's the same genre....just totally wrong material to work with.

No cut scenes in ME ....That Duologue .....gameplay.It could use JRPG combat and increase sales in Japan and demand for it to be ported to ps3 even more? Or atleast offer more weapons if it is FPS combat...
Banjo_Kongfooie
i hate turn-based combat. i like the combat, and the game, the way it is.

no. he wants sheppard to look more like justin bieber. but bieber-er (cause i might get suspended if i said gayer).

What do you expect... Not many people in Japan do DND, the main influence of their games lies with anime. I personally have no problem with the JRPG system because it helps the story move a not so rapid pace. KOTR had better story then Mass Effect because Mass effect breezed through
How it is yes and no? should I have added a not sure?I don't agree with either 1 of your answers
