[QUOTE="dreman999"] 100% FALSE.I'm playing the game on hardcore now with an adept and I feel way too over powered. You just need to learn how to curve your biotics, use and up grade you Heavy Pistol and use Singularity, It's your bread and butter as an adept. It rips off shields, barriers, and armor like it;s nothing. And when you upgrade your guns get the sniper rifle.

dreman999

I am playing on insanity and I cannot use pull on any shield/armor/barrier enemies until their protection is fully depleted.

Use Singularity, like I said before. And Heavy pistol the shields then pull.

I don't have Singularity though since I am playing as a Vanguard :P

Have a tech with you. Invest in Barrier. And invest in warp.

1. Leveling screens were a little annoying, made it feel less like a role-playing game -- though I would welcome a quick-travel option that would allow you to "beam up" (so to speak) to your spaceship after a mission.

2. No planet-mining. Please God.

3. A story with a more "epic" feel. The entirety of ME2's story, while strong, was about the threat of one immense starship that sucked up whole human colonies. That a big deal, obviously, but I was expecting something more disastrous this time around (especially after hearing the Empire Strikes Backs comparisons). Let's see some massive space or land battles next time around -- KOTOR ended with a gigantic space battle, right? I want to get the feeling that the entire galaxy is mobilizing to go to war, which unfortunately wasn't the sense I got from ME2 at all. If anything, it seemed as if no one else even cared. The Turians are doing their own thing, the Council's playing pretend, etc.

No copouts.

Specifically, don't tease us with a possible Tali's face reveal only to hide it during the whole scene.

It will streamline it, like the picture above shows.

I lol'd. Sad that it's true.

new system is way better than the old.

I know right... People can post pictures like that but at the end of the day you know something is wrong when 3 of your characters abilities are Fitness, First Aid and Medicine, even though they might as well meld all 3 together and call it Soldier Specialisation. It helps because to a first time player of ME, it isn't obvious which ones are useless, even though quite a lot of them are.

Throw in some cuddly teddy bear type aliens.

Seriously though, there needs to be more interaction between squad members. There wasn't enough in ME2.

With the uber praise that Mass Effect 2 has gotten (and for good reason), I started thinking about the minor tweaks and annoyances that I had with the game. Its not perfect (nothing with this kind of ambition will ever be) so what do you think they can improve upon this great formula to make ME3 the greatest finale of all time? My suggestions:

-Scratch all the mini games. Honestly, they dont provide any kind of challenge (memory with 4 characters could be accomplished by a 5 year old) and they just break up the pacing of the main missions. Also, the planet scanning is dreadfully boring after about the 4th or 5th time. Eliminate that whole mechanic and make the side missions more robust and less linear, putting in those minerals as collectibles.

-The cover system is pretty solid, but too many times when I would expect I was locked into cover I would pop out when I turned the cursor left or right, and subsequently get blasted with a biotic power. Not really a huge deal, but could use tweaking.

-Put stairs in the Normandy dammit!

Thats all I can think of. What do you suggest?

Just played some more and was reminded of a couple of other bugs.

  • Shepard sometimes gets locked in position. As in he doesn't turn when you've got your gun out and move the camera. Snaps out of it if you hit the left trigger I think.
  • Squad members getting stuck somehow. Far too often I've looked around and noticed that my backup is nowhere to be seen. Ordering them to follow you doesn't help, you have to backtrack until their pathfinding finally kicks in.

This game is really, really buggy. I'm surprised by how buggy it is. One time the bloody menu didn't even load properly. The screen setup didn't load, the text just appeared on the splash screen. You also have the minor stuff like characters just kind of teleporting into place as you enter a room, crazy eye spasms and whatnot. I guess Shepard pouring drinks over his helmet goes into this category as well.

  • Bring back vehicle exploration with the hammerhead or mako or whatever, Actual Gameplay > Stupid minigame.
  • Make the hubs world bigger
  • Bring back the exploration on main mission. This is a part of every RPG game, we need more variety in the missions.
  • Make the gameplay less mindless action, and more TACTICAL action. Reward good players with the gameplay.
  • Bring back the inventory and loot system, but make it more organized like KOTOR or Dragon Age or Borderlands.
  • More ROLE PLAYING in the ACTUAL missions. ME2 feel too much like an action game for some times, its get repetitive fast. We need more missions like the one on Noveria, when you needed to go to Peak 15, anyone remember?. You needed to deal with Anoleias and the corruption of ExoGeni. Actual role playing.
  • Make the story less character driven, and more PLOT focussed.
  • Bring back the crouch button. IDK why they removed.
  • For god sakes, Keyboards have like 102 keys, MAKE SHORTCUTS, dear god. If I'm playin on PC and I need to hit Esc, then select with the mouse, squad, then navegate the menu only with the mouse, you're doing it WRONG.
  • The GloBal action key needs to go on the PC version. IDK why the hell is this in the PC version when you have so many keys to make use for.

I could go on like forever, but hey, life is short, gotta go

simple

a fittingly grandiose ending to the Reaper conflict.

If they pull a Matrix Revolutions (I know they won't, just bear with me here) and do something terrible like oh, Reapers are threatened by something only humans can stop. humans stop it, and peace is made with Reapers, I will be very sad, and may potentially vomit.

like I said though, I think the earth is liable to completely spontaniously (yeah, I'm sure that's spelled wrong) combust before that happens.

i'd like 2 changes made in the 3rd and final game:

1. Please get rid of that "end of mission" screen. It really can take you out of the experience and is constantly reminding you that you are playing a video game.( yes that might sound weird, but i dont know how else to explain it)

2. a nice balance of side missions and crew member missions would be nice in the 3rd game.

Also a lot more guns not sure if im just not close to finishing the game or what but i only have like 2 of each weapon class. i would prefer like a skill tree instead of piking a class but thats just me also i would like travailing simplified just let me pick a mission from a list and take me to the planet the manual travailing seems unnecessary it should just be optional if u want to do side quests

Choices. Make the choice A and choice B option something significant this time, I would like to have choices that have me second guessing my decision all the way. ME2s choices were very small scale until the end, and then ME1s choices were bigger but offset by how lame some of the characters were. Make the choices tougher.

put most of the time and effort into more options for the player. more alternate paths, more alternate alliances, conversations, consequences, etc. more voice acting, all the stuff that makes it a cinematic RPG. it's very very good as a shooter right now. IMO it doesn't need to change too much from an action standpoint.

put more work into building huge sprawling hub worlds. omega, illium, and the wards looked nice, but they were too small and felt cramped.

bring back equipment

SPOILER

oh, and no reaper boss battles this time please. unless you do something hugely innovative, you can't portray the scale and terror of such an ancient machine monster in a battle.

[QUOTE="Yandere"]

[QUOTE="h575309"] How is character development not an RPG element? :?h575309

Character development through leveling and gaining items is, I would not say character development through the storyline is.

How does a character develop from gaining items? A character develops through you learning what makes them tick and why they are who they are. The armor and weapons they use dont define a character in an RPG.

Rpgs are really losing their focust to gamers apparently if the crowd that enjoys them cant even agree upon what classifies as one.

-Planet scanning or anything like it. Let me find elements in missions, in big portions

-/+ even the playing field with combat and story.

+ Add crouch and a better cover system

+More customizing

+More interacting with characters. All of them. How are you still busy doing nothing?

-Get rid of the leveling system. In a way subtracted what a real rpg feels like. At least bring it back to the first one.

-Remove romance. Thats just me.

+Give it a good ending bioware!

my greatest fear is seeing Mass Effect 3 render most or all ME2 squad mates into NPC's because of the chance that they may die....

sincerely hope they don't do that in the final chapter.

Personally i'd like to have

Tali, Legion, Garrus and Liara with me at the final fight.

I think ME had better variety of atmospheres. The last few areas of ME1 were far better than anything ME2 had. Especially the ancient area of the protheans.

-Increase the scale. Mass Effect 2's areas are comparatively smaller to the original even when ignoring the vehicle segments.

-Give your decisions even more meaning and more consequence. Alot of what you say in Mass Effect doesn't really effect the end result too much in most scenarios.

-improve the character customization(appearance wise). It's hard to make a Shepard that doesn't look Asian!

-No more probing, no more scanning, no more purchasing of fuel. Scanning and probing planets for resources is boring. And It's ridiculous to actually have to pay for fuel in a videogame. It serves no purpose other than to inconvenience the player. Bring back the vehicle segments if you want. They could have used some work but not scrapping.

-Over haul the menus again. The menus and the managing of inventory was a little confusing and intimidating to new players and Mass Effect 2 some what remedied this by separating them, but now their just inconvenient. You can only swap out what weapons your character is holding before mission and in preset locations. I'd like to be able to do it when ever. Same thing for researching. It has to be saved for post and pre-mission.

-Make a better main plot. In the original Mass Effect it was pretty good despite a Saren Dry spell during most of the game until the conclusion. While Mass Effect 2 greatly improved on the main character it was a step backward for the plot itself. Theres really a well fleshed out villain in Mass Effect 2. All we had were the collector's, a race of bug people that do not speak at all. Their motivations aren't explained till close to the end of the game and the reaper in the game isn't half the character Sovereign was.

-less predictability as one person's article put it. You always knew when you were gonna fight before you even did when you walk into a room set up for it with a bunch of chest high walls and explosive laying around on the ground. And you always knew when you got a character that you'd have a side quest dedicated to them along with an upgrade for the ship from them.

-Bring back the ability to quickly switch back to the weapon I was previously using with the press of a button like the last Mass Effect.

Yea there are definitely some noticeable bugs. Ive experienced that reticle one though. Very strange. Its not a huge deal but it should be rectified easily enough with patches. I can forgive it though because the game is freakin huge as it is. They just need some better QA.

Bring back grenades.
Bring back my crouch button.

Grenades stunk in the first one , and why would you need to crouch in a game with a good cover system?

All I know is that Mass Effect 2 has been a great ride so far, the only I would change is perhaps a better shooting control, however, this is clearly not the game's main focus, so I can definetely get over it, and gladly purchase Mass Effect 3

Kojima was able to perfect the grand finale in MGS 4, and being that the MGS storyline is more epic than ME's, there is no reason why Bioware can't perfect the ME grand finale.

Speaking of character interaction, it feels kind of weird when you drag a second person along with you on a loyalty mission, and it's like they basically don't exist. They never say anything. And I was expecting something to happen when I brought Garrus to recruit Tali, but nope. I feel like there should be more interaction between the crew members, not just between you and them.

The only exception I can think of is when I took Mordin to Jack's old home. At least he commented on the rooms and whatnot, making it feel like he was present.

[QUOTE="3KindgomsRandy"]

Um simple less walking around and talking didnt buy a game to watch a movie dont care about the story point me at an army and let me kill themmurat8
You sir, are playing the wrong game. In fact, it sounds like you're playing the wrong genre. In fact, I would submit that it needs MORE walking around and story as you call them.

I was disappointed when Tali's loyalty mission decided to turn into something completely different, i.e. the same as most other missions. Thought things were gonna go all Ace Attorney at first.

Bring legion on Tali's loyalty quest. Tali or Garus on thane's. Jake on Miranda's. Miranda or Mordin on Jake's. Garus on Grunt's .(For laughs.) Zaeed ,Jacob and Samara it doesn't matter.

h575309

(1) I kinda agree. I don't mind the hacking and bypass game, but the planet scanning gets old fast. I like your suggesting or at the least there should be some expensive upgrade that's like instant scan/probe an entire planet.

(2) & (3) I totally agree with these. There's nothing like having Shepard pop randomly pop out of cover and take an assault rifle blast to the face. Exploring the Normandy is cool the first time you do it but 20 times later it's annoying. I wish the crew would actually stay in the crew quarters or in one large area similar to Dragon Age. Multiple load times to talk to people is annoying imo.

I pretty much enjoy everything else about ME2 though. My only suggestions would be to bring back some of the stuff they chopped out. Were people really pissed off that they could customize their guns in the first game? Was the concept of grenades a major area of complaint in ME1?

If they sacrificed the random planet missions of ME1 to make disk space for loyalty missions, then I'm totally cool with that and they made a smart decision. If they didn't, I wish they would bring those back in some form. I hated driving in the Mako but I didn't mind shooting up some people and getting to hear voice acting for an interesting story and make a choice that had an impact on ME2.

I honestly would like to see a prequel during the two years Shepard was gone at this time.. I would love to play something like a Kroganor other such things with the war against the Geth after the Citidel incident. Before they do anything else really.. In all honesty the story didn't really cover much the reapers are still beyond dangerous.. There being tens of thousands to millions..
