-Increase the scale. Mass Effect 2's areas are comparatively smaller to the original even when ignoring the vehicle segments.
-Give your decisions even more meaning and more consequence. Alot of what you say in Mass Effect doesn't really effect the end result too much in most scenarios.
-improve the character customization(appearance wise). It's hard to make a Shepard that doesn't look Asian!
-No more probing, no more scanning, no more purchasing of fuel. Scanning and probing planets for resources is boring. And It's ridiculous to actually have to pay for fuel in a videogame. It serves no purpose other than to inconvenience the player. Bring back the vehicle segments if you want. They could have used some work but not scrapping.
-Over haul the menus again. The menus and the managing of inventory was a little confusing and intimidating to new players and Mass Effect 2 some what remedied this by separating them, but now their just inconvenient. You can only swap out what weapons your character is holding before mission and in preset locations. I'd like to be able to do it when ever. Same thing for researching. It has to be saved for post and pre-mission.
-Make a better main plot. In the original Mass Effect it was pretty good despite a Saren Dry spell during most of the game until the conclusion. While Mass Effect 2 greatly improved on the main character it was a step backward for the plot itself. Theres really a well fleshed out villain in Mass Effect 2. All we had were the collector's, a race of bug people that do not speak at all. Their motivations aren't explained till close to the end of the game and the reaper in the game isn't half the character Sovereign was.
-less predictability as one person's article put it. You always knew when you were gonna fight before you even did when you walk into a room set up for it with a bunch of chest high walls and explosive laying around on the ground. And you always knew when you got a character that you'd have a side quest dedicated to them along with an upgrade for the ship from them.
-Bring back the ability to quickly switch back to the weapon I was previously using with the press of a button like the last Mass Effect.
