Again, even from the launch trailer, all i am getting from it is "explore and gather resources". I don't like this message from a franchise that is known to have amazing writing. Seems way too shallow.

My hype meter is off the charts!
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY OMNI-GEL!!!!!!! ???
also, Asari lovin confirmed, hoping that's Natalie Dormer you get to bang ?
lol, I was gonna ask the same thing.
Not sure if y'all heard, but full nudity is confirmed. No more of this timid half second shifting camera teasing, actually making full use of the M rating, woot. They had stated taking notes from Witcher 3 on quest design. Looks like they've been studying a whole lot more from CDPR ??

But since this allows you to craft your own weapons, gear, and other upgrades, that will enhance the character build customization, making it very useful to the game - then I'm all for it. Plus it'll be nice to have so much terrain to really explore, and not just the bland copy/paste texture settings of vast stretches of.... desolate emptiness.

At this point, I'm just trying to stay positive and hope for the best.

That's good. Its what i always wanted from the series. But what i was referring to is the story. No trailers are setting us up for the actual story of the game. All we're getting from every trailer is "explore and collect to upgrade X thing". Almost NMS kind of vibe lol.

@mjorh: This launch trailer wasn't as epic as Mass Effect 3 but other then that, I like it but my hype has dwindle down a bet but nevertheless, I'll be there day one playing Andromeda on PC. Also, the song didn't even fit for this launch trailer but I guess it is what it is. The best thing that came out of it was the fact that I'll be able to romance Pee Bee and another thing about her, I heard she's supposed to be a Teenager Asari which is why I think she's too much of a chatterbox but I'm okay with it, I still wanna romance her.

Didn't we already knew about Reapers when ME2 and 3 launched? They don't need to give us the plot and everything that will happen in the game. Building the colony is just too simplistic in my opinion. Feels more of a side quest than the main story.

My main issue here is the fact that Bioware just skipping the whole Reaper aftermath from ME3 and it's like Bioware is just erasing Reapers history and the way this new Mass Effect is going for, the Reapers never happen is what I don't like but I do like what I'm seeing so far.

This game is set between ME2 and 3, when the mission is launched. As I understand, it was originally proposed for other reasons, but as various agencies (possibly including Cerberus) began to accept the Reaper threat and the possibility of galaxy wide extinction; the Andromeda Initiative was re-purposed to be a contingency plan for the survival of the council races; to evacuate the galaxy and make that new home in another where they could begin anew, far from that threat. And I'm sure they considered the risks of entering unknown territory with many possible dangers of its own (the assumed risk of colonization) but at least a better chance than up against unstoppable machines.
But anyway to get this back on course; they knew they had to leave before the Reaper's arrival, so it was launched before the events of ME3 began. In that way they can't know the outcome of the war, not just by distance and timing, but the fact that this is 634 years after the events of the original trilogy. And that's a deliberate part of the design, so they don't have to deal with incorporating the aftermath, even if it was just 3 generic endings, plus the 4th with the added director's cut. This also allows the game to be a good jumping-in point for new players, not needing to know the entire backstory.
It's not that the history is erased, it all did happen according to each players experience. Just that from this new story perspective being 634 years later and having departed before its conclusion, is unknowable to the new cast. That's not to say it is entirely removed from original trilogy events. It's been confirmed that there will be characters will knowledge of what went down in the first two games. So we'll get background conversation referencing Shepard, Garrus, Liara, Anderson and so on, likely referring back to Sovereign assaulting the Citdel, the Feros colony, the battle on Horizon, Omega incidents and so on - in historical context of all those people now being dead 600 years ago, but still from present day colonists who were there to witness it first hand.
So there will be easter eggs for the veteran players while being fresh for new and old players alike. Which is kind of the point, for this to be a fresh new arc separate from Shepard's arc, but still connected after the fact.

hmmm , is there any Mass Relay left so they can jump through and give us another shitty ending ?
I have to say overall I liked the launch trailer, but good god the song choice was the worst. Whoever signed off on that should be fired immediately. It took an otherwise pretty great trailer from 8/10 to like 5/10.

It is because they literally wrote themselves into a corner. There is no way they could go forward in the Milky Way after what happened at the end of ME3. The only options that had was prequel (lame) or go somewhere else (Andromeda). I hope this pans out well. It has potential as Andromeda is at least twice the size of the Milky Way so if they stay there and then jump a couple hundred years into the future for the next game (once the MW races are established) it has potential. But I am not overly optimistic that Andromeda will be a very good game. I've seen too many questionable decisions in terms of gameplay/content, plus it is being rushed (nearly everyone who has played it says it is buggy as hell).
I hope I am wrong, because I was and to some extent still am a huge ME fan, but I don't think it will stack up to Mass Effect 1 or 2.

Agree about the trailer music in this one. ME2 launch trailer was excellent, ME3 launch trailer was outstanding! They should have stuck to an instrumental track over song track I think.
And when you say Pee Bee is a "teen", that being in Asari years would still make her older than the Ryder twins, lol. I remember Liara saying that at 100, she was considered "still barely older than a child" by her people. Not literally a kids age, just their estimate of her maturity and experience.
Which reminds me of a really funny background conversation on Illium in ME2 (one of those discourses you could just eaves drop among the NPCs) where an Asari is shopping for weapons at one of the vendors and her dialog with her friend is something like, "I just turned 60 (or maybe 70) and I'm finally moving out of my parents house."
Also a conversation with Samara about her daughter, Morinth, "She ran away from home when she was only 40. I do not know human years but for us, that is very young."
Anyway, I'm more interested in romancing the Asari doctor because... NATALIE DORMER ??
@mjorh:
Losing the Mako and the ability to land on various planets exploring with the Mako was by far my biggest disappointment with ME2. Just probing for materials flat out sucked in comparison and have been begging to bring back the Mako ever since. Loving that vehicles are back, started watching that vid, drooling for a little bit then had to stop because I just want to see it all the first time I play ME:A myself. :D

I agree (as most do) that the planet scanning was tedium ad nausiem, but driving (if you can even call it that) the Mako was a magnitude of frustration, it could qualify as a punishment in hell. Once you hit any mildly bumpy terrain on the planet (which was most of the time), well good luck keeping that freight on course with the direction you wanted/needed to go, while it bounced and bobbed along every axis. The tires probably only kept contact with the surface maybe 20% of the time. And of course for every planetside objective, there was really uneven surface or craggy slopes between you and that marker.
Where planet scanning was boring and tedious, maneuvering the Mako was aggravation from struggling to control it... every damn inch of the way. Try choosing the lesser of two evils from these, bleh ?
I thought the Firewalker was a huge improvement over the Mako. As a hover vehicle it was perfectly suited to uneven terrain, not relying on tire contact it did by design what the Mako did my accident only better, staying just above the surface and smoothly gliding over it. Maneuvering that vehicle was far more effortless.
But now that we have a new 6 wheel vehicle, it is greatly a relief to see they improved the handling that it will drive properly like a 6 wheel car. And that we get to have vast stretches of planet to explore with it that are detailed and diverse, unlike the bland copy/past texture retreads from ME1. I also like that it's upgradeable (while still being usable in its starting state) and as a really nice touch, optional paint jobs to add to the customization of the players experience. ?

That makes sense for Bioware just try to redo the series again and I do hope Bioware learns a lesson from ME3 so we'll just half to wait and play the game to find out.

I like the Mako as well, the biggest issues I had with the first game was the fact there were so many hills/mountains that the Mako suffer. The Hammerhead in ME2 was okay, it felt like I was using a cheat code back then how easy it was to drive it but it sure had a weak ass armor compare to the Mako.

That just makes it better. It's the voice performance that puts the soul into the character. Having Natalie bring the Asari character to life, to bring her depth to it makes for some appealing close encounters... and I will have her ??

Yeah that was the only negative aspect of ME2, it just outright sucked!
Probably some spoilers so don't watch if you don't want any spoilers.
Not gonna lie I thought that looked awful. Gameplay was okayish but the cutscenes were just embarrassing. So many stupid smarmy jokes that might have been okay if ME was pure comedy, but it makes it impossible to take any of it seriously. And the animation wouldn't look out of place in FoodFight, especially the ship guy at the midway point of the video. Hideous.

I was thinking similar thoughts on the music. In the ME3 launch trailer, we had awesome music...
Hell, just listening to it again makes me want to play through ME3.
Not so pumped with their music choice in Andromeda either. But, whatever, it's a trailer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Stevo_the_gamer: Damn! shit i wish i had the time to replay the trilogy.
I'm replaying them on PC now thanks to EA origin but I'm still not quite done with ME2 and I'm not gonna have time with ME3, I just ran out of time no thanks to both Horizon: Zero Dawn & Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild using up all my gaming time :(

Glad you'll be done with the trilogy in no time.

I was also trying to replay the trilogy, that I rebought on PC (no longer have my old X360), but between work and a couple of Beta's (For Honor and GRW) barely got through ME2. No way I'll complete this before Andromeda comes out. Ah well, it's still a nice revisit in that familiar Galaxy ?

Nah. Not this one. Too many 9/10's for a recent comparison in their mind's. But in truth, who fvcking cares? Mine is all installed and ready to be played at the stroke of midnight on release night.
@AdobeArtist:
Gal darn nubs who don't posses the cat-like reflexes and coordination to properly control the beast known as Mako ruined ME2 for those of us who do. :P
Seriously though, for me it only took a very short time to get used to the control and I was good to go. Honestly, I loved screaming around the planets, jumping off mountains never slowing down. Also I used it for combat when clearly in those areas it wasn't supposed to be used. Made killing off batches of bad guys a walk in the park. lol
I just wanted more varied, creative, rewarding side quests on those planets for ME2 and I would have been a happy camper. Eh, regardless, now it looks like with ME:A, they've went above and beyond to gimme back mah Mass Effect vehicles and with the added goodness of being able to upgrade them to boot. Da SP is a happy pappy now. :D
Going in with low expectations because of all the changes at the studio in recent years but the Mass Effect trilogy was among my favorite games last gen. Really hope this can deliver.
