But in the video, she had a squad, and they took down the mech with a tech combo.

Also MEA looks like it also has sync kills like ME3 does, where enemies can kill you instantly.

They barely showed the entire fight with the mechs. They just showed a scene when it was just low on health where they just blasted it up close. Barely any teamwork shown just the character moving around place to place blasting people. Seem like the AI aren't good at aiming or put up a challenge either unless they had some pretty op weapon. Didn't see any moment where you really needed to take cover they were literally standing in the middle of the firefight.

First, the player is using Biotic Charge, which in past games would recharge her shields on hits, so she would take cover lass. Plenty of kits in multiplayer in ME3 relied less on cover and more about getting to the enemy (and Volus could not take cover). Second, the tech combo, clearly shown on screen, was a clear result of her combining tech powers with the squad. If you actually have play ME3, and high level multiplayer, tech bursts and biotic bursts do a lot of damage.

They do not want to pop and shoot in MEA like you can in past games.

One part doesn't negate the fact there was little squad coordination used through the fights. Saying they don't want make it more cover and shoot is pretty poor excuse when there were classes in the pass games that did not use biotics powers or rely on heavily. Biotic classes were pretty damn op in the last game so I'm not even surprise its even more so here than before.

Sentinels did not need much cover if you tech armor, Infiltrators use it less as well. Then there are kits in multiplayer that rely on melee combat or running and gunning. And notice that there are no classes in MEA for Ryder, she can put points in combat, tech, or biotic skills instead and build her own combat style.

The tech combo was squad coordination, the new female turian squadmate also hit the mech. Notice also in the fight that Ryder put up a frontal biotic shield to move into position.

Game looks awesome. I haven't played any of the other games in the series but I want to give this one a try...I hope a Switch version gets released.

I'm curious how this game is going to pan out for newcomers like yourself, I would suggest playing the first three games though, they're all fantastic and something you don't want to miss.

I would equate the Mass Effect trilogy to the original Star Wars of video games.

My college roommates were obsessed with the series and I watched them play (mainly Mass Effect 2) so I have a general idea of their premise. I still have older games that I'm catching up on since I'm mainly a retro gamer (gonna pick up the Last of Us this weekend) so I'm gonna wait until it comes out. If I decide to get Andromeda, I'll have to let you know what I think of it from a newcomer's perspective.

@silversix_: Still the combat looks like you don't even need a squad anymore or much tactics. They better improve the AI a least looks like they could barely aim.

its a quick video showing you the world, enemies, biotics and gunplay. why were you expecting tactical play on a trailer like this? shit was made to build hype and make everyone pre-order the game. its not with slow paced tactical play that you'll achieve that, especially on a show like this.

Femshep 2.0 is looking kinda derpy and the animations are in uncanny valley in a very bad way.

But actually other than that this looked pretty good and FINALLY shows off some real gameplay. Now all that's left is to demo the RPG elements, I really need to see how character customization and progression are before I'm sold.

Looks awesome! Can't wait! Though I'm also super curious as to why we saw, early in the trailer, an outpost full of Humans, Krogans and Turians (perhaps even more races that we didn't see). It gave off this sensation of it being there for a loooong time before our protagonist arrives at scene. I was under the assumption our new heroes were the first beings of our galaxy being sent to Andromeda, but I could be wrong I suppose. Still curious in any case.

Glad the gameplay looks basically like Mass Effect but a lot more fluid. That always bothered me a bit about the older titles, it was too "stiff" at times. Hope they didn't completely discard the "pause and think" options completely though, they're (or were at least) crucial in the higher difficulties and thougher fights. The new powers definitely look cool! I also hope it doesn't end up turning into "Minecraft in Space" with resource gathering and building (of armour, weapons, stuff in general). While it's fun for a bit, that crap gets repetitive after a while.

The gunplay feels like it was dialed down, I thought they did an excellent job in ME2 & ME3 in that regard so that's potentially disappointing. Though, I've always played as a soldier class Shepard, I'm wondering if the gameplay we've seen is strictly some biotic or tech classes or whether they'll even be an option to pick between classes with this one.

No classes.

You can now pick whatever power you want, with classes now as disciplines for bonuses.

So you can mix Biotic Charge with say, Overload, for instance. This would never have happened in the original trilogy.

I didn't know PC had L2 and R2 buttons. Unless the PC version supports PS4 controller overlay I'm gonna have to say that's the Pro footage.

If its true 4k than mostly likely not. Any demo can be easily be design to have controller overlay and running on the pc.

It's not true 4K, it's checkerboard rendering in 4K which is impossible to tell apart from real 4K on youtube compression. It's most likely the Pro version. They wouldn't go through all that trouble to add PS4 controller overlay on PC version just for a demo.

If its not real 4k than yea it may most likely ps4 pro footage but there have been a few instances int he past where ps4 demo were runned on the pc especially for companies like EA, I already posted above of a example of that.

look at the shadows, they don't look very high but the picture is sharp (probably 1440-1600p upscaled to 4k). I'd be ready to bet money this was on the Poo. Its just not impressive enough to be running on PC/maxed out.

It's not impressive enough because It's Bioware, not DICE. You really expect a company to show a game on something other than PC on an stage?

@zeeshanhaider: I'm well aware of most games running and showcased on pc but this did not look that great. You may say that's the fault of Bioware but DA:I looked great for 2014 and ME4 budget is probably huge so i expect good visuals. Visuals sell and Bioware/EA knows that.

And that is the very reason I believe they will never show the lesser version. It's not looking great because that's just how it looks. I think you are overstating the graphics of DA:I.

Looks fine but I'm bummed that you're still basically interacting with more humans and the same alien species mostly. I was hoping it'd be all new races and shit.

@daredevils2k: Watch the video again, at the 3:00 mark when the weapon wheel pops up you can clearly see Xbox buttons. This is running on PC, with PS4 overlays, but it looks like they didn't map all of them correctly.

I just hope that it doesn't get too bogged down in deep crafting systems and having to gather materials etc. That's not Mass Effect.

It looks... ...like a Mass Effect game, which is a relief. There's been so little details for so long I didn't know what to put in my "Initial" decision box - until now.

I think I'll either insta-buy it and let it sit or wait till all DLCs are out. Either way, I'm inclined to mark this down as a 100% likelihood of purchase.

Am I the only one that thought Dragon Age Inquisition was great? Sure it had some rough edges with certain quests being nauseating repetitive but majority of those could be completely avoided..

Do you think it's running on the PRO? or regular PS4?

Anyways, I'm so excited, day 1 purchase for sure.

The Butt hurt runs strong in this one lol. Sorry to break it to you buddy, but I don't know any pc game that uses the Playstation control layout.

... Really? I mean Steam just released official support for the PS4 controller..

So you can just dash to avoid attacks now looks like they made it more easier when it comes to combat. All these years and they couldn't make better animations and its coming out in a few months.

But the Sentinel was limited, you are not in MEA. You can have biotics with tactical cloak and tech with biotic charge. Also ME3 had electric bursts as well.

There are no classes in MEA, its build a character you want.

This would never have happened in the original trilogy.

yes it did. it was just more limited. the sentinal class had biotic and tech powers. They just didn't have biotic charge

i do like that it gives a cue on tech bursts now. they were hard to see compared to cryo , fire, and biotic combos. The flame turret looks greatly improved too. gonna run one with biotic charge, warp, and chain overload. explosions for days

But the Sentinel was limited, you are not in MEA. You can have biotics with tactical cloak and tech with biotic charge. Also ME3 had electric bursts as well.

There are no classes in MEA, its build a character you want.

trust me. after my 1000+ hours in ME3 multiplayer, i doubt anyone knows more about the series then me here lol

I'm aware of tech bursts (not electric bursts as you call them) and how they removed all limits. all i said was that you could have tech and biotics combo'd and that they added a cue as the animation for tech bursts was hard to see in ME3 compared to cryo, fire, and biotic explosions. some powers were class specific like cloak and biotic charge, some weren't like overload, throw, warp etc.

ME3 MP added biotics and TC (asari huntress had TC and dark channel and warp)

Also the volus vanguard had shield boost (tech) and biotic charge

the ceberus had electric lash option (tech) and biotic charge

It was something they worked on in ME3's MP of giving more options and I'm glad they expanded on it for the new one

Tech bursts were so effective on geth.

In fact, on higher difficulties, tech combos and biotic bursts actually do more damage, encouraging combos for success.

And MEA's combat is an expansion of ME3's multiplayer, not the base ME3 combat.
