IF a game comes that can shock the industry as good as OoT did then it can get a ten. It all depends on how impressive the game is for today's standards, and that game sure looks years ahead of anything being previewed out there.GS will never give out another 10. I think 9.8 is the highest they will ever go from here on out.

This game and Forza 2 make me want a 360killerkoprainbow 6 vegas, Gears of war, Lost Planet and some other games should allready make you want a 360.

I disagree. This is an original IP not another sequel, that helps it's cause. It's pushing the envelope graphically, another help, it's a HUGE game, and finally everyone keeps waiting for THE game that defines this whole "next-gen" silliness and the game that really does it may just garner such a score. I mean hell, all the reviewers were going crazy over Gears and came close to giving 10's and it obviously had flaws, a game that hits the nail on the head, however, could get it.

Great boss fights, great mechs, great graphics... great game.. i try to give all games a chance to see what they have to offer. Lost Planet has a lot to offer. if you only judge it as a shooter, it's mediocre.
No. There is only one contender for a perfect 10 on Gamespot and that is Spore. There are hardly going to be many games scoring above 9.6 from here on in. Gamespot themselves even said they are not going to hand out any more 10's seeing as how "no game is perfect."foxhound_foxThat's just stupid. A 10 scale shouldn't be meant to be a representation of a perfect game, but merely a game that redefines every technical and artistic aspects of video games so far. Gs should acknowledge that and award games that are as good now as OoT and others that did get a 10 were on their day. Saying "no game is perfect" just doesn't cut it. the 10 is merely a scale, not a synonym of godlike

Not to pick on yet another whiner about XBL, but seriously. Do you have more fun at a club with friends or alone? If you are alone what are you doing to make yourself some friends?  If you are at the club and surrounded by a bunch of douches do you just stay there with them?
XBL is what YOUUUUUU make it. What are you doing? Find friends and play with them, leave douche games and for god sakes be cool or likeable or outgoing or whatever and make some freakin good friends to play with.
The problem with XBL is that it is very similar to the real world even though you are masked behind an internet connection, if you suck with people in the real world, then you are going to suck with people online.
XBL to me is amazing and my biggest problem is having too many good gaming friends that are playing too many different things and not enough time to hang with them all.
XBL is what YOU make it, stop whining and do something about it.

Based off personal hype, videos, information, etc.:Aren't you basing those on previews, YOUR personal hype and ... well nothing else? Now excuse me if this isn't "decent rebuttal" at all, but the game hasn't been finished, so it's very unfair you'd judge gameplay just yet in my opinion. Much less sound. About the graphics, it may not be as impressive but all it needs to stand out is a better utilization of the artistic resources. If they pull out an engaging and convincing experience then they may not need better graphics at all. Which they look great anyway.
Graphics: 9
Beautiful character models, excellent textures. The only flaw would be that it isn't as impressive as Gears of War, thus it may not get the full 10.
Gameplay: 8-9
It's a shooter/RPG hybrid, and typically the combat system in these games is lacking. It's deep, it has a semi-lock-on targeting system. With loot, varied environments, varied enemies, varied gameplay, tactical teamate control. I fear it could end up being a little too shallow for an RPG, or a little too complicated for a shooter (based on your knowledge of the game before-hand).
Sound: 9-10
A full 30-hour main campaign with hundreds, if not thousands of characters with voice, an additional (at the very least) 10 hours of sidequests, multiple reactions to each conversation; basically, just a lot of fully-voice acted dialog. Assuming BioWare decides to get another award-winning composer to do the music (Jeremy Soule, in KOTOR's case), it should be quite excellent.
Value: 10
A 30-hour main storyline. Over 100 locations of exploration. Multiple fields of expertise (as in KOTOR). I assume there to be multiple endings. Multiple ways each conversation plays out. Simply a lot of replay value.
Tilt: 10
Well, most typically adore BioWare titles. It's a combination of excellent character design, brilliantly paced plot, an excellent and well developed setting, an unforgettable storyline, and (due to the excellent scripts, and voice acting) excellent storytelling.
Overall: 9.2 - 9.6
I believe that's a fair estimation at the score. Feel free to disagree, but do so with a decent rebuttal, or you shall be ignored.

Sound rarely changes in development, more layers get added on but the background music usually stays the same. and the voice for the ip as well. Most they can do with IPs is facial animation and synching to the sound.

I think 9.9/10 is the highest they will give out, apparently, after the THPS3 review, the highest they will give out is a 9.9/10. Someone a while ago posted about this, I don't remember the reason behind it.

I see your point...I would also see some relevance if the MUTE or the TURN OFF VOICE function didn't exist...
But perhaps you like to engange in those games with those kinds of people to reinforce your unhealthy social choices...but I'm no Dr. Phil.
