Mass Effect was the game of the year... adds to Gamespot inferior reviews...

Wow... what a finish... Mass Effect delivered the goods on every conciveable level and ended with an amazing interactive cinematic of sheer genious, never jumping the shark, but concentrated on superior story telling. All in all the game was very easily in the 9's as far as score was concerned. I gave it a 10 because frame rate issues pale in comparrison to the greatness of this game.

The one thing that jaded my thoughts a bit durring the ending though, It kept running through my head how terribly off the review on Gamespot was... Even if you don't enjoy rpg's it's worth playing through this game just so you can see how off the mark gamespot was on this game... It makes you wonder if they even played it at all....

I was really making reference to cows instance that every one of their games is better than its scored, but then they become rabid if someone else mentions they think one of their games was underscored, and bring up minor faults or completely unrelated things.

Technical issues had no bearing whatsoever on the overall experience of that game... I can think of one fight in 42 hours of gameplay that the frames dropped to a unnacceptable level and that was a side mission...

Opinions being what they are; mine is closer to yours then the reviewers though mine changed from the original play through and thinking, yeah 8.5 was about right.

After many more hours playing through again; M.E. was & is a true AAA game in my opinion though maybe the reviewers have to be given a pass as that opinion was formed after many, many hours of playing this great title.

Bring on the D.L. and for sure 2 & 3 are must have titles for any gamer who likes these type of games.

because tehre are tuns of technical issues, its a valid argument when the popins make your eyes hurt and there is way to much bloom

I would say that ME is probably notin my top 5 RPG's but not by much. BG, BG2, Planescape, Morrowind, KOTOR are my top 5 with ME 6th.

I lovedthe game (my GOTY for '07)and there were some minor issues but I never experienced anything major or anythingthat ruined my enjoyment of the game.

Don't feel bad for me, feel bad for yourself. I'm not the one saying that a game that is a pale shadow imitation of what BioWare USED to make is one of his top 3 games of all time. Sorry, but 15 hours of halfway decent gameplay combined with 40 hours of repetitive side-missions that take place in the exact same goddamn buildings every time does not cut it.

If you think Mass Effect is one of the top 3 games of the last 25 years, then you couldn't have played more than six or seven games in those 25 years.

Mass Effect is a second rate game with great CINEMATIC production values. Everything else about it stunk. The shooting gameplay was slow and felt weak, the magic system consisted of only a dozen magic spells (Baldur's Gate II had THREE HUNDRED), the story was predictable and poorly thought out, the conversation system was no better than KotOR's, the main character's voice acting consisted of short, single lines with no real substance, and the game teemed with technical issues (not just framerate, but also animation issues).

Hl1 is my number 1 game. Starcraft in the top 15 somewhere. While Cod series is great You can not possibly believe they surpass ME. Civ games? No thanks. I would rather have my teeth pulled. SMG is better then ME if you are nostalgic or 12.

And I have played more games on more systems then you can imagine.

...Gamespots reviews are inconsistant because Assassins Creed had all of those exact problems...how could assassins creed get a 9.0 and Mass Effect get an 8.5 when Mass Effect was clearly a better game.

Yea I would love to play ME on my new q6600 , 8800 GT build. It stomps crysis on High settings. I would doubt very much if any pop up or frame rate issues would be present on pc for me.
