mass effect will flop and heres why

Not here. GS got it right. IGN gave it a really high score.

The score on here was appropriate. Game had text after almost every fight, and the combat was pretty much a button masher, keep tapping A and you would win, but it was a good game. And to the post from way back when, I wasn't saying Bioware was one of the greatest developers, I was saying that their games were good. Hell, take the book to Kill a Mockingbird as an example. The author only wrote that book, and it was good, and is a classic now. She didn't write anything else. She's not a classic, the book is.

It seems to me that you just hate RPGs. Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata will get AA. Blue Dragon probably 8.5. Lost Odyssey looks sweet too.

Here's why it won't flop:

The game is developed by Bioware. They piss excellence. Go on to gamerankings.com and check out the list of top 10 highest rated RPGs of all time. This includes literally every RPG ever, the Fallout series, Elder scroll series, Final Fantasy series, Chrono Cross and Trigger series, the list goes on. There are 4 games of note on this list, #1: KOTOR (xbox), #2:Baldurs Gate 2, #4: KOTOR (PC) and #10: Baldurs Gate. Take a guess who developed those games? Bioware is the premier RPG developer, I have a feeling they know what they're doing with Mass Effect.

AA is fine and all but lemmings are hyping mass effect to get AAA and game of the year. seriously a joke. also blue dragon and eternal sonota hyped as AA congrats you are getting mediocore rpgs.

Mass Effect has what is by all accounts of people who played it a really cool, cinematic conversation system that will make even the exposition entertaining, is absolutely massive (why are people worrying about it being too short?) and littered with tons of optional content as well as what will probably be a lengthy, and almost certainly replayable quest with multiple endings, is made by a developer with one of the best pedigrees in gaming, has great visuals and extensive (and likely high quality) voice acting. The combat system looks to fix most of the problems I had with previous Bioware games, when I wasn't big into the combat system (actually, I'm not big into RPG combat in general even if I like the rest of the game enough to play through it, I don't really like that turn-based system).

I doubt 360 guys are going to buy it mistaking it for a shooter, and RPG's have sold successfully on the XBOX before, including ones made by these very guys. I would be willing to bet it won't flop critically, and although I don't think it will be the 360's biggest blockbuster this holiday season (especially not with GTAIV and Halo 3 around, not to mention at least a couple others) I think it will perform fairly well at sales. Your arguments seem irrational and aren't based very well in fact.

Also, to the lemming who commented about if the cows would like you start bashing Final Fantasy - did you see the guys earlier referring to Square Enix as Milked Enix? I don't think they need some of you to start, as at least some of you already have.

I think the premise of Mass Effect is very interesting and alot better than KOTOR(I hate when games blend turn based and action RPGS). I am just worried that with out a large disc storage medium this game will not be nearly as epic as it promises to be. DVD9s can only go so far.Truth-slayer

No it should be fine, as long as all the movies, and cut sceens are in engine.DVD9 fails at trying to store HD cut sceens,sincevertex data, and textures that are already being used for the game are in game. However I think that this will be the last generation of DVD9. Mass effect claims 180 hrs game play (however that's probably if you do all the missions to do). This is no less gameplay that MSGS4 will have.
