This is Nintendo. I will believe it when I see it.

I don't care if the system will blow ya. Wiiu was largely horrible. I will only get the nx after/if it becomes cheap, and then pre owned only. cause I refuse to give those Nintendo pricks anymore of my money after all their bullshit.
"Allegedly the analog controls for movement has small motors in them for full haptic feedback. Meaning if you control a character and hit a wall, the sticks move away from the direction of that wall to simulate running head first into it. This can also be used for jerking when firing a gun, taking damage, moving over rough terrain, ect."
Boy Nintendo just can't seem to let go of motion control gimmicks that everyone stopped caring about 6 years ago. Kinda sad to see them trying so desperately to revive the dead fad they started.
Hopefully this rumour turns out to be false.
@GameboyTroy: That dude is seriously annoying and funny at the same time :D
Yea haha..its like he's on high all the time....if that's how he is in real life..then wow. :P

That actually sounds like a pretty cool idea. An elaboration and articulation on general rumble technology, I just hope the battery could survive more than a few hours at a time.
@Bigboi500: Probably like 2 to 3 years max.
Nope. You're looking at it from the wrong point of view. I know people who still use PS3 and 360 with no plans of upgrading. I'm talking about a majority of consumers, not entitled elitist forum posters and techies. The tech for normal people will be this level for another decade.

I still doubt this gen is as long as last gen.

Based on what? If current gen game budgets are too large to get games out at a feasible rate as is, what makes you think people and developers will be ready to jump to systems and games with even longer dev times and larger budgets? The games for these systems are just now starting to flow out. Nobody wants to buy new systems that are expensive, and then wait another couple years for games to come out on them.
I think the crowd you have in mind are upwardly mobile PC gamers. That market will always be in a rush to make advances in both hardware and software, but console, their games and their consumers move at a much slower pace.
We've reached a comfortable place for consumers and developers alike.
Holy shit, if true lol. Nintendo, why is every single thing you do ridiculous?
Also, this is assuming that this rumor is reguarding the console, and not a handheld. Because a console as weak as the Xbox One that is not only 3 years old, but the tech it uses was itself 3 years old when the console launched (and toned down) is rediculous. Also, wireless HDMI? Again, if this is for a console and not a handheld, then dear god Nintendo are cartoon characters at this point lmao.
Why Nintendo? Why do you insist on handicapping yourselves with cartoonish unnecessary bottlenecks that noone asked for, dont benefit you in any way, and that will ultimately hurt/cost you?
You've done this every gen. being stubborn and sticking with expensive and low storage capacity cartridges (N64) that led to you losing FF7, most 3rd parties, and handing your dominant position to Sony,
your unnecessary desicion to use miniDVD on gamecube causing you to miss out on most 3rd parties? Fucking stop it. We dont need nipple tassles as controllers. STAHP please Nintendo.
You set out with the Wii and Wii U to make sure you were different. That you were seperate from the pack. That you were the outliers. Well you're endeavors, Nintendo, have been a resounding success. You are, unequivocally, the outlier to the rest of the industry.
"Developers have described to me more than once that it visually and functionally looks as if “Samsung and the Nintendo 2DS” had a baby"
This sounds like it's a handheld, not a console. A handheld as powerful as the Xbone that included wireless HDMI would be a godsend to me. I'd pay $500 for that. Who knows what we will actually end up with, though.
@Bigboi500: I doubt Microsoft wants to spend the next 5 years in the position it's in now (they're not pleased on how the console is doing, that is clear as a day) and Nintendo is already trying to release a 9th generation console.
Fall for SW hyperbole much? Xbox One is selling at a faster rate than the 360 was at this time. Wii U is a dead system because it has no third party support. NX is going to try to change that. If it succeeds, then all three companies will have platforms that will have games for consumers for many years to come.
Believing what the fanboys say on this forum is just... ell oh ell worthy.
Damnit damnit damnit damnit damnit! Just now seeing this. Please don't be true about the weak sauce power..
Indeed, the developers have been struggling to get the Bone run games at 1080p for over 2 years now (?) and these rumors are stating that the NX is more closer to X1 than PS4. Why even bother?
@Epak_: I mean, I appreciate that they want to make a console that transcends the console experience and all of that, but it's like Sony seems to be the only one that grasps that what people want is a machine that does its best to play games. I already have a smart phone. I don't need another. This technology overlap is lame.
And, I'm getting tired of having to cheerlead for Sony at all times when this subject comes up. This shit shouldn't be hard to figure out. I sound like a fanboy when really it's just common sense.
@Bigboi500: Microsoft isn't releasing their sales numbers anymore, I wonder why... besides last gen Sony and MS were more even in the race than now ( about 18 million vs about 36 million). Nintendo needs 3rd party support or one hell of a gimmick to succeed, that's why people get riled up when the rumors are stating that the NX is only close to the X1 power.
@Bigboi500: Nintendo is already trying to release a 9th generation console.
wii u was more of a 7.5 gen console if anything :P
Yeah I guess you could say that, it was a mistake that's for certain. Should have made it a real 8th gen console. Although the console is a dirty flop it has a handful of really nice games though :)
Wireless HDMI makes sense if the rumors are about the possible handheld part of the NX (the power level would be pretty awesome in that case), don't know if there even is a NX home console coming or what... I'm eager to find out what they're up to.
If its as strong as a Xbox One, it better be $250. And if its a handheld I'm out. I'm a Nintendo fan, but I prefer consoles. When Nintendo is out the console business, then so am I.
Wireless HDMI sounds like a cool idea, but I can see issues with that down the road. Hopefully you can just use a regular HDMI cable if the wireless idea isn't great, and they don't decide to make the NX end something only they can provide.
If it's not as powerful as an xbone then Nintendo dropped the ball. Everything else sounds promising. But to release this late in a gen and not bea step ahead of the competition in power is troubling.
So it's about what we expected. The HDMI dongle could be neat, but I'd be concerned about lag. I also doubt that Nintendo has all of a sudden turned things around in regards to networking and their integration for newer tech. Made gains? Sure. Now on par with their peers? Not likely within just one platform jump.

The Wii U allows for low latency wireless transmission between the console and the gamepad. It's actually quite a feat to do real time rendering and wireless transmission with a response time faster than some wired devices. So while Nintendo may be behind in terms of overall power for their console, this is purely a business decision to reduce costs. The same can be said for networking (e.g opting for peer to peer networking to reduce costs, especially important since they don't charge for an online service). In terms of technology and innovation, you shouldn't write them off so quickly. They're definitely capable.

If it is a handheld with the power of the X1, that hooks up wirelessly to my tv, and connects to a supplemental power source to give better fidelity while hooked to the tv, I'm game.
If it is a console with the power level of the X1, that may be disappointing as I already own 2 consoles at around that power level, and don't necessarily need another. I's get it for Nintendo games, but I'd much prefer something with more power under the hood since the X1 is already over 2 years old, and wasn't exactly groundbreaking tech when it launched.

In what world would that be considered motion controls?
@MirkoS77: im not sure how that will work with a small thumbstick.
its not a new idea...it's basically force feedback (remember that?). i remember wresteling a beast of a logitech joystick while playing freespace....it could snap your arm off :P.
but with a small thumbstick that could become a real pain in the backside as the stick could keep pulling away from your thumb and messing up the control. with a joystick it was fine since you would have a grip of the stick (Phrasing!) or wheel (phrasing?)
i'm interested to see how that turns out though. assuming the rumor is true of course.
Let's see, people complaining about being similar to the Xbox One in terms of power forget that the Xbox One console's SoC didn't have Polaris in their GPU's. Secondly, it maybe using a much mature SoC APU's and possibly an enhanced GPU. Nintendo's philosophy was always making a console at least $300 or under. Last, at least it will be able to run majority of games in 1080p and 60 FPS, if Nintendo speaks about Vulkan support for their hardware reveal, it will be a big win for them.
My thoughts instead
1. Who gives a shit , seriously ? Yeah it could be a plus for a very tiny minority but , is that a reason why someone should buy NX instead of something else ? Those things are irrelevant to me and majority of gamers.
2. So what ? Who cares ? Its not something that will make me want to spend money for the console
3. Facepalm ... Again , irrelevant to the main point of owning a console which is ...games and hardware specs.
4. The closest ? Does that mean it wont even match Xbox one in power ? Roflcopter !! Architecture wise might be easy for developers but that doesnt mean games might work as intended. What the hell Wii U x50 means ? I dont get it. Also what is this OS emulation .. wtf does that even mean when hardware itself might not even be as strong as Xbox one ? You dont make sense !
5. Its not something you cant have in other platforms but lets say they moving in the right direction or better .... they trying to catch up.
6. usability and ease of use ? Thats what we need a console for ? Or how hard is to play with PS4 or X1 instead ? What the hell can does far easier when the main thing you want it for is to play video games vs other consoles? No clue !
Upset is coming , if they wont bring it HARD with amazing titles and all... I smell fail.
My thoughts:
HDMI WIreless dongle is great, but I do hope there is a hardwired accessory as well. I realize that in real application it will probably go beyond Xbox One, but Nintendo really needs a console that is actively outdoing PS4 and XO. Part of that is the marketing side. If people hear its near XO in power, this will generate more bad press. Kind of like everyone thinking Wii U was just an add-on to Wii original.
Hmmmm... I'm trying to figure out if the whole NX thing is indeed a separate handheld and a home console. If the handheld is as capable as the Xbone it's probably going to cost a lot (?), at the same time it can't be too expensive because no one will buy it. Having a handheld with a wireless HDMI connection would make a separate home console with the same power pretty much obsolete. The console part should succeed the Xbone/PS4 in power while the handheld could play the same games in scaled back form.
Buying them both would probably cost way too much for an average consumer. F****** Nintendo is driving me mad :D
