sure gordon freeman has no milatary training but he singlehandedly took out a whole alien invasion!

MC has alot of milatary training and wepons and he is also a pretty smart person

but when it really comes down to it gordon will probably win

i usally go on Gmod and use gordon npc and MC npc(you get it on addons)and see who wins

He doesn't talk because he is a mute, he doesn't talk because YOU ARE SUPPOSE to be that character.. When the character talks it makes it less impersonal, that you are filling that character in and controling them.. While in HL games it always tries to make YOU that character.. Gordon Freemen is no more a character then he is a mechanic to draw the player in to the game..

Looking more like he jumped out of a xgames motocross game, then a sci fi universe.. He never shows any feelings what so ever, nor do we ever see about the character him self in his past etc etc with in the game.. He is just as bad a character as Gordon Freeman, which is pretty bad because Freeman isn't a game character in the original sense.. Bioshock did th eEXACT SAME THING.

Gordon is mute because the player assumes the role of him. By doing this,you alone can give Gordon more personality than any other character. The game feels alot more emotional when you witness a sad event as yourself,rather than another character (Episode 2's ending).

This reminds me of the days of yore, pre-Halo 3, when myself and legions of other SW die-hards would create 500 posts threads every half-hour comparing and contrasting every aspect of the Half Life series to the Halo series. Those were indeed fun times.
